Dependencia sexual (2003)
A great foreign film
While a lot of the time, I am a mainstream guy - who likes to watch known films with a lot of buzz and famous celebs, one in a while I take myself more seriously, and venture out to explore on foreign terrain. This time, I decided to listen to my gut feeling, and rent Sexual Dependency. While usually, Spanish-language films annoy me - the premise behind Sexual Dependency sounded interesting, especially to me - a guy who enjoys movies with sexual themes.
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie: when I started watching it, and the split screen appeared, with dramatic music in the background - I was a bit hesitant. I though "Well, there starts another tears-filled international drama". In edition, the split screen really confused me in the beginning, and I thought to myself "Where the hell should I look?". But after you get the deal with the filming, you learn to appreciate this work of art: the idea of different perspective to each scene is amazing! Whoever though of showing us this split world is a genius!
Another thing to like about this movie is the collection of people, whose stories interweave amongst each other. Even though some stories are more interesting and unique, and other are a bit more commercial and clichéd - the general picture is quite nice. The end of the movie is highly surprising, though weak, and a lot of ends don't create a tie - yet still, you feel fulfilled after you watch this film.
While it is not perfect, it falls quite closely - thanks to an interesting plot construction, amazing filming, and even a little bit of South American music can't hurt.
If you're into unique work of cinematic art - especially international film fans - you cannot afford to miss this creation.
Heart of Stone (2001)
A nice thriller
There's nothing new here: a guy, killing gals and other guys, blah blah blah... But this movie is none the less interesting, and actors and actresses are good, and the storyline is more or less intriguing. But still, it's a thriller with no uniqueness.
3000 Miles to Graceland (2001)
The only good thing about this movie is Courteney Cox' great acting skills...
Well, I don't know where to begin trashing this movie.
Well, first of all, everything written in here doesn't apply to Courteney Cox and her character.
The main actors are pathetic, except Cox, which proves she has great skill. The other characters are pretty much useless, except some nice scenes with several supporting actors.
The action in this movie is also old and doesn't renovate nothing, like Matrix' (1999) bullet-time, or Charlie's Angels' (2000) fast-paced action. Here, don't expect anything like that, or even close.
Don't waste your time on this, unless you're a Courteney Cox fan, since here is a great performance of this wonderful actress, wasted in a low-class movie.
Ocean's Eleven (2001)
Excellent & Brilliant, Funny & Exhilarating, Perfectly Done
This is one of the best movies, if not the best, I've ever seen. A terrific cast and crew is shrunken with a great screenplay, excellent script and story line, mysterious characters, great laughs.
A perfect combination of actors, and an actress, in a movie that has been done, but never seen before.
Two hours of heaven. A must buy, see and keep.
Queer as Folk (2000)
Great TV Series
Besides the "Queer" part of the show, there's great humor in the show, which takes place within a group of people, both male and female, which most are gay. I began to watch the show with anticipation of a pornographic show with no story line, but I cheered up when I discovered a well-written plot, of laughs. With great actors and actresses, this show is a sure winner for all genres. Don't miss it!
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Greatest Series of All Times!
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are both great actresses, and together are a combination of great humor and excitement. Gilmore Girls became a part of my life, as I dream of my future life to be this way, with great teenage loves, for Rory (Bledel), and a great family life for Lorelai (Graham), a young mother with a young daughter. Great supporting actors and actresses, like Melissa McCarthy, Keiko Agena and Scott Patterson. I LOVE this show and its actresses and actors, and it's a promise you will, too!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Intense Action + Great Cast = A Wining Show!
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a great actress, probably best of all times. And you get to love her more as she kicks some monster *** and destroys evil. The actor James Marsters is a great performer, and acts. I adore the others,Nicholas Brendon/Alyson Hannigan/Anthony Head , as well. If you love action/adventure/comedy/fantasy/horror, you will get it all in a great series, and you'll definitely get addicted. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is great with its cast, its plot and its effects. Watch it and be amazed!
