Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal (2024)
I noticed something interesting.....
Of the handful of the people they profiled, I.e. Christian guy, suicide guy, etc they all took ridiculous selfie / regular photos with really stupid looks on their faces, like they were always trying to be funny....
I believe that anyone who constantly takes pics like this are liars who are hiding something. I'll admit this is a far fetched theory but I've notice this in other documentaries also. A real man doesn't do this. So take a look at your significant others social media and also the photos around your house. You might be married to one of these unfaithful idiots and you didn't even know it.
Late Night with the Devil (2023)
Absolutely horrible.
Ok, where to begin? First off, I understand the style of camp that they were going for. The acting however is so poor that it doesn't work. The switch from color to black and white on commercial breaks was corny. Again it didnt work.
This was so amateurish it was shocking. The fact that people are giving it credit by stating that it was all on purpose is ridiculous. Black Dynamite was a perfect film that understood campiness and old school style filming.
The pacing was bad. The editing was bad. Hence it was boring to watch. In the end it was a bad film that shouldn't get credit because it was trying to imitate bad 1970's bad tv.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Boring and cliché
This film is the very definition of trying to hard. It is like a Guy Richie parody. Each scene lasted a bit too long. Too much talking for the sake of talking....the fighting was completely ridiculous...Only a child who has zero experience in movies or real life would find this movie entertaining. I actually fell asleep twice watching it. Then I turned it off, then I thought "ok at least finish it, maybe it will redeem it self in the 2nd half. Alas it did not.
All the good reviews have to be by those who watched this movie while stoned or drunk. I did like the outfits and the jewelry. They at least got that right.
The Truth About Jim (2024)
Shameful attack on a dead man.
The fact that HBO would allow this documentary on their channel is beyond me. Has anyone heard of a term called "The Facts"? I actually sat there looking at my wife and both of us asking, are these women serious? There was one scene where one of the multiple women (so convoluted with daughters, sisters, step sisters, wives, grandmothers etc) that claims he raped her in her dream? In her dream??? Then she wakes up and he comes into her room because she said she screamed and he was wearing same outfit as in dream. This was complete garbage.
This documentary should be taken off HBO and who ever was paid should return the money. I am embarrassed to have watch this travesty.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
No...Boring Nonsense
The first John Wick was a masterpiece. They went down from there. Each one less than the last but still providing some Interesting plots and action.
Now we have arrived at John Wick 4. Nothing is as good as the previous movies. The martial art action is far more Tae Kwon Do-ish than Ju-jutsu. Spinning kicks to the face? Come on. This is suppose to be somewhat realistic. The "Gun-Fu" is now boring and is so over done. The action is a pale imitation of the previous movies.
The plot is ridiculous...without going into particulars it's just so silly.
And although Reeves says about 15 words in 3 hours, his acting is so bad, it's hard to hear those 15 words.
I realize this is all from the comic. But only a 12 year old would like this movie.
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
Not Scary But Not The Worst Movie.
It has been over 40 years since I've seen a horror movie that scared me. Some have disturbed me, some have sickened me but none have scared me.
The Popes Exorcist is another horror film that does not scare. At least anyone over the age of 12. What it does do is still hold one's attention. This is due to its star Russel Crowe.
CGI special effects, loud banging noises, and jump scares don't work. Crowes acting does. We all know that Catholic voodoo and exorcists are complete nonsense. Just as we know Dracula doesn't exist. But that doesn't mean they can't still be entertaining.
I also enjoyed seeing Django as the Pope.
The Artifice Girl (2022)
Horrible acting
You don't realize how important talented actors are as well as talented editing until you watch a movie like this.
The actors are performing their lines too quickly. Stepping over one another. This is a "poor" acting technique. Make it seem interesting by scrambling the dialog. Another technique in "poor" writing is using profanity where it doesn't belong.
Each scene is in one location for a long time. This along with the sub-par acting really creates an uncomfortable situation for the viewer. Sort of claustrophobic.
In the old days you could tell a "B" movie from the movie poster...I miss those days.
The Happening (2008)
Horrible...But Why?
It's often hard to determine what makes a movie bad. Is it the writing, is it the acting or is it the editing. Or is it a combination of all three. Most of the actors in this movie are established movie actors who have made good movies. So it wasn't really the acting. Often editing can ruin a good performance of an actor. But it seemed ok.....it must be the writing.
The characters said the silliest things at the silliest times. It almost felt like a comedy at times. But I don't think that was the director's intention. It's not be of those movies that is hard to understand why it's so bad.... Simply a B movie made with A actors.
Bullet Train (2022)
Worst movie of this decade so far
There have been many bad movies....all for different reasons but Bullet Train might be one of the worst movies of all time for all the reasons.
A blatant attempt to rip off a Tarantino style that can only really be done by Quentin. The attempt to be "cool" in every other scene ala walking in slow motion, screen tilted, hair blowing, rock music blasting can really only be done once. Not 12000 times in one movie.
Jokes in the middle of fight scenes can work, if done correctly....it was not done correctly. Oh btw the jokes should be funny...they were not.
Why was Pitt in this garbage is beyond me. He must be board with his multi millionaire life.
Happy Valley (2014)
The Truth Often Hurts
An excellent documentary about how a college and it's football sycophants had to eventually grow up. What happened to Sandusky and Paterno was exactly what should've happened.
The only sad part is that Paterno died not really seeing his true fall from favor. Those that commit evil and those who do nothing to stop it are equally at fault.
Football is mindless nonsense. Perhaps in the end the students of Penn State finally actually learned something.
Bravo.
