Wrong Side of Town (2010)
great start for 2 well known wrestlers, but very bad script and direction
Im not great at long reviews, so hers a short one. Ill be honest I didn't think it was going to be good, ie I thought it was going to be a really low budget start off film . Sadly I was correct in my view, The plot is half cooked and what felt like it had large chunks missing or simply wasn't put together smoothly. It was rather clichéd pretty much the whole way through, with many continuity errors from the obvious fact that the knives were fakes just by the look of them and then to see that each time somebody got sliced it was a miracle since no blood ended up on any of the weapons used. You had van dam holding a gun which seemed out of place because his head was tilter as if he was looking through the aim point at the end of the gun, yet his head was no where near it, yet with a back shot of rvd it was obvious it was a stand in due to the body and then because the gun was in the correct position of the body, then you came back to the front view and same botch job. the music in many sections were completely out of place and felt as if it was a rough job with smoothing into the action scenes. How ever saying all these bad points, I can safely say that for their first film that I know of rvd and bautista , they did a sterling job, you can see that they still need to learn there craft and adjust with how they body language is, but overall it was a nice pleasant experience watching these two act. Would this have done anything on the big screen? if it was just wrestling fans going to see it, it would I guess do a 1/4 decent job, but thats it, film buffs would have riped the directorial attempt to pieces as well as the script. but as a straight to DVD, you would only be happy about it if you paid say £5 and then found how bad David DeFalco had directed this film they would still feel ripped off, but eased the pain knowing they saw some pretty decent acting by the 2. I also gave this 3/10 simply because i believe bautista and rvd is a fairly good job
Universal Soldiers (2007)
punch me please I'm having a bad daydream
what in the living hell was the movie company who even thought of producing this utter crap thinking about.
hey the other version without the (s) at the end were a mediocre success why not completely mess it up with rap graphics , major part time actors who need to not over react, and yes just because your your 7 year old kid says i can create graphics like the big films....don't have a big heart or even think yeah why not and believe the brat, because it was utterly bad so bad that i can safely say after watching this over or so of wasted life (mind you i was extremely bored and its now 2:30am UK)that even the (lets milk all the money we can franchise) saw films are better than this and i couldn't even stand watching them.
Turkey of the year... yeah most likely. Mind you at least we now know that you can kill a indestructible killing machine with a over sized wooden stake to the killer machines body and face ...even though all you can see is blood and bugger all else as in puncher marks or anything resembling wounds.
which brings me to the make up section..... bit that made me laugh was the women near the end just before you see the utter worse part of 7 year graphics the killer machine that resembles the machine from the 2nd terminator, the wound on her left shoulder, looked more like she had gone to McDonald's and totally missed her mouth with the overcooked crap and didn't bother to wash it off, at which one of the food mishap she was likely getting told she had a chance in her sad life to act in a film. Did she know that it would be in one of the worlds most expensively done she will ever be a part of yet be the most low budget poorly produced overacted low sense no idea"experience not needed" movie .
Highlander: The Source (2007)
What the hell happened
i gained a copy of this months back and have to say that they did something wrong with this film. There is nothing special about it, its seems half ass way of producing it with the effects and location, gives the feeling they had £20 to play with and they seemed to have gained £19.99 back in change.
the effects of the head slicing is better and i was surprised it happened, but from that the special effects are half ass , the story line is boring and tiring , there is not one single section of the story or visual that makes you actually want to stay in the cinema to watch the film, it simply gives you the feeling of when you were watching a bad b movie in the 80's where the budget was extremely low and with no talent behind the camera.
considering AP took over production near the end f the TV series i was strongly expecting lots more from this.... Has he lost his touch has producing become to much of a stressing situation. Hell the team and even him don't seem to be bothered with doing the production notes and b lo g on their own official site, so from that are we to take it they are re doing the whole thing to actually drill in some intelligent action with a spot of special effects and dash of story line that will blow our socks off, or should we take it that they simply have given up and are now hoping they can get away wit the slow progress of a crappiest produced film of the 21st century and I've now just read that its in fact going straight to sci-fi channel, How pathetic is that Im highly saddened by this because this was going to be the ultimate film for me to watch, I've been a highlander series fan for years and just gained the box set, so to know that they have simply destroyed and made a film worse than end game is soul destroying.
