Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies (2016)
Thankfully Informative, Suprisingly Fascinating!
Out of curiosity I watched the first episode and then couldn't stop. The USA is the most spied upon country in the world. It's no wonder we now have 16 intelligence agencies with eyes, ears & boots everywhere at all times. Being a superpower insures you will wear a huge target on your back and naturally aquire many enemies, foreign & now especially domestic. This does not mean the US can be assumed to be the most evil country by default or the most good either. Size & status are major factors in how nations are judged. Every nation on earth uses spycraft, both ways. Undeniable fact. Humanity is the underlying reason for all confidence and/or distrust issues.
It is amazing to me the process for identifying even the slightest hunch and turning it into a globally impactful outcome in the constant struggle between opposing forces. I have tremendous respect for all these professionals who use each others specific expertise to solve difficult situations. I was surprised to learn that intelligence work is mostly done from an administrative aspect, then the confirmations, operations & physical missions are completed by specific groups of field operatives and/or military forces.
I am so glad these agencies and personnel are effective and passionate about their responsibility to defend & protect the country. We are thankful to them and the production by CNN for providing this excellent series.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Disappointing
I was curious to see what all the hype was about this movie. After all it won seven Oscars. It was really so boring that I could not endure to the end. The only thing that kept me hanging on was some of the fight scenes. I did not find it very funny either. It was even worse than watching the Barbie movie. How and why did this movie win Oscars and what is the criteria for an Oscar, who voted for this movie to win an Oscar, not I. It seems there is an underlying message, theme or purpose of the movie but I cannot decipher it, I'm no Hollywood insider, I just like entertaining movies and this one missed the mark for me.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Intense! Especially in IMAX at Movie Theaters
Instant classic sequel that doesn't disappoint. Obviously no expense spared making this movie. Of course it includes some outrageous Hollywood fantasies and mystical flight maneuvering to its script but remains squarely within the story line. I like the way it demonstrates how human and mechanical performance are pushed to the absolute limits and beyond on some missions and the preparation to accomplish them successfully. The cast & crew did an amazing job throughout. It is a credit also to our great military members and our national values. Genius movie making, Loved it.
The fact this movie earned only one Oscar for Sound is an absolute disgrace from whoever votes on these awards. I can no longer trust Oscar to say what a great movie is because its all about politics now. They do not match the accuracy of proven success at the Box office in terms of gross $ receipts. Moviegoers are the real judges of what's best. TC is/was great in every aspect of this masterpiece that was 35+ years making. So, just as well keep your lousy award Oscar, Tom's laughing all the way to the Bank. TOP GUN MAVERICK!
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Unworthy of DC Logo
Dumb adult reality TV that spoils the expected comic fantasy entertainment value of the DCU. Right up there with the last Joker I say. Loaded with "F" words just to annoy us, SS3 is a failure, please stop now. Make more Aquaman and WW types. Thank you.
