Craig of the Creek (2017)
Good stuff
Good stuff. Children having fun, good messages that are direct enough for children to be able to understand.
The Matrix (1999)
Over the top & Wrong
Its attempt at covering the philosophical ideas/point of Simulacra and Simulation by Jean Baudrillard (Movies inspiration) was incredibly wrong, most wrong in context of 'the real'. Its wrongness would be able to be passed if perhaps Jean's point on 'the real' was a bit weary but there is no need to 'read between the lines' to find his point, there is not distinction between the real and the imaginary which the movie lacks (blue pill v red pill scene). Seems more focused on small concepts of the book like man becoming machine rather than laying out the foundations for these smaller concepts. Beyond its philosophical wrongness the acting is great but scenes are over the top, super long fight scenes that are unbearable to continue watching.
Teorema (1968)
Great but lacked a bit, terrible scene.
Great movie about the corruption of the bourgeoisie.
Likes about movie: symbolic, transgressions, transformation, taboo, the void and metaphorical.
Dislikes: The attempt at a marxist movie was decent but a bit led down by the freudian thought. The connection between the transgressive figure and the young daughter was a pretty disgusting attempt to portray his transgression and sort of throws him back into the same place as the people he is supposed to be a impactful figure to and in a way this attempt slaps Marxist thought.
Che: Part Two (2008)
Good but a bit sloppy and rushed
Che part one was very bar setting for the second one so I was a bit disappointed to say the least. It was sloppy and very rushed, it lightly stroked and brushed at events then quickly transitioned to different events without much explanation. Che 2 was almost like an essay full of run-on sentences, many ideas and events portrayed with poor transition.
Che: Part One (2008)
Great movie not very informational
Great movie. Benicio del Toro did a wonderful job depicting Che, it was raw acting that definitely feels very real and honest. Though I will say that the movie was not very informational about Marxism in other words, not very views based for an important revolutionary figure. It seemed like the movie was almost too shy to dive into Che's ideology and what was going on with Cuba prior to the revolution i.e Batista. A a better more in depth explanation into Marxist thought through Che would have made the movie better. For instance it briefly mentioned Che's executions with him saying "We are executing and we will continue to execute" it didn't bother to explain why, how it's incorporated in his ideology, he simply had no sympathy for Batista's loyalists, they prolonged Batistas dictatorship through their loyalty and this could have been precluded by talking and informing on Batistas reign on Cuba, though it did mention and depict the poverty of the locals it didn't exactly say why. Essentially was a bit more romanticizing than informative.
