Sonic Mania (2017 Video Game)
the only good sonic game in the last 20 years
18 May 2023
Sonic Mania is the only good sonic game in the last 20 years which is sad because it was made by a fan!

It even says Sega PROUDLY presents before the title screen which this (as far as i know) is the only sonic game that says this.

God sega is pathetic

Anyway the game is fun It's very fast and fluid and has some great variety in its presentation.

Really the only issues i have are its length and ending The final boss doesn't feel like one at all

And yes i know that if you collect all 7 chaos emeralds you'll unlock another world but they're so well hidden here that its not worth it

Running into every solid wall and looking for anything that looks even remotely breakable ruins the fast pace of the game

Sonic 2 got special stages right in that aspect.

GoldenEye 007 (2010 Video Game)
a first person shooter based on the 6th newest James Bond movie at its time of release
12 May 2023
So why make a direct adaptation of a 15 year old movie that's quite literally NO ONE's favorite James Bond movie?

Well because they wanted to trick people into thinking it was a remake of the Rareware game

But the N64 version has practically nothing similar storywise to the movie while this game actually follows it fairly closely So that goes without saying that both games are unrecognizable from one another because obviously it plays nothing like it either.

But that's okay because it's actually pretty fun

It has bad gameplay decisions that definitely bogs the experience down like easy as sin Quick Time Events and the god awful final boss but nothing does that as much as the ridiculously long loading screens that happen every single time you die.

Games aren't meant to be easy And dying is key to getting better So you should probably try your damned hardest to optimize that

It turns a very smooth and fast paced shooter into a slog on the harder difficulties.

A lazy collection of minigames plopped together for the sole reason of making sure that this series meets its quota of having 17 games a year

I've played a couple of the older ones and even those don't seem as lazy and lifeless as this All of the characters dialogue is sampled from previous games and the models dont even move their mouths

Some of the minigames are fine but thats really the best it gets And it's really annoying that the single player mode forces you to constantly change what controller you're using in between games

They could have easily figured out a way to make all these simple games controllable with a single controller but as i said they were lazy.

the very first 3d platformer using the license
20 April 2023
I was never a fan of the sequel "Battle for bikini bottom" but now i think I should try it again because this was so bland that i think i'll appreciate it more.

For some reason you have to 100% every level to unlock the last one so half of the game is just aimlessly wandering around every level wondering what the hell you're supposed to be doing

The game also uses a costume gimmick which is fine on paper But its very poorly implemented The mermaid man one you only have to use once and the reef blower is also barely ever used

Which would be acceptable if each costume didn't have their own song!

That means that the song that plays whenever you wear the remaining costume "the fishing gear" will play And it will play for a great majority of the game due to it being the only useful costume It gets quite annoying At the very least it could have been a halfway decent song The game's dialogue and cutscenes are pretty funny-bad but that's not enough for me to recommend it.

Club Drive (1994 Video Game)
an interesting bizarre piece of gaming history
20 April 2023
Club Drive is a collectathon driving game and I am baffled that this actually got released.

An orb spawns in a random place on the map and then you get it. And then another orb spawns in a different place and you get it. You do this 10 times and then you'll get a game over screen and get set back to the title screen. There's only 5 levels and 1 of them is even hidden behind a code. And not only are there no enemies to kill you in any of them but the map also tells you exactly where the collectables are!

What's the point!?

Beating the computer's score?

Well good luck failing because it took the fastest computer 30 freaking minutes!

You can also switch the game to "racing mode" which is not the default mode for some godforsaken reason.

And it's just as bafflingly thoughtless Once again there's no opponents so you're just up against a ridiculously pathetic time.

And they don't even do laps right What THEY think a lap is is driving to one side of the track and then the next lap is driving back

On the bright side I really like the flat shaded polygon look And the music albeit terrible goes very well with its cursed aesthetic.

another year another butchered Hollywood franchise's "epic conclusion"
31 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
But not really it didn't conclude anything!

All that gets resolved is stuff THIS movie introduced!

The last movie ended with the peta supporting trio releasing dinosaurs into the wild so they don't die.

Which is beyond stupid but lets forget about that.

I assumed this movie would also be stupid but at the very least fun because as Goldblum said in the last movie "humans and dinosaurs have to coexist"

2 and a half hours of non stop dinosaur massacres'? Hell yeah! That sounds awesome!

But no. They felt that the "dinosaur" portion of Jurassic park's story has overstayed its welcome so they decided the obstacle of the movie is to stop a bunch of wasps from screwing with the food chain.

What a missed opportunity! Its such a shame!

You turned what could have been the most fun movie of the year into a bland directionless piece of mediocrity.

Half of the characters don't need to be here especially the returning cast from the original.

It fells like they were only added for their names on the poster.

Their character has no development

their performance reeks of not wanting to be here

all the action scenes they're in are boring due to them being old as dirt

and they simply don't FEEL like the same characters they were in the originals.

The motorcycle chase is a great example on what this movie COULD have been.

The protagonist is being chased by raptors in a city overrun by dinosaurs!

Its fun its exciting the sound is excellently mixed

the series was already f##ked ever since fallen kingdom came out but they missed the opportunity of going out with a badass bang.

the worst one so far but at the very least its more original
26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The child that killed jason in the forth one is now young adult and is in a looney bin.

And this has got to be one of the worst looney bins I've ever seen.

One of the mental patients is being annoyed by another mental patient while he's cutting wood.

So he decides to murder him because gah he wants to help me cut wood!

So i guess the doctors are letting this nutcase use an axe unsupervised. Great job guys.

The father of the murder victim dresses up as Jason and murders all the kids in the asylum......and some other random people........so he kills pretty much everyone that wasn't the person that killed his son.

Why!?

And of course the stupid twist wasn't bad enough. They thought they also need a stupid ending.

So the kid that killed Jason randomly decides to kill an innocent woman but haha got ya it was all a dream oh nevermind i guess he really is gonna kill her.

I guess he got jealous that the father got to play Jason all day without giving him a turn

god this series just gets dumber and dumber its exhausting.

pretty much just the second one again
26 July 2022
Except now its in 3d!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And its painfully obvious when its trying to "wow" the audience

but hey at least i now know the backstory on how Jason Voorhees got his trademark hockey mask.

This guy was pranking a woman and wore the mask to jump her....and then.......jason wore the mask to make her think it was......him.........to make her.....easier to kill i guess.

"you know what? I kinda like this mask.

It makes me look cool"

and the rest was history.

There's also this woman that can see the future in her dreams i think...... I mean she babbles on about how she saw Jason in her dream before she even knew he was a thing.

And a similar thing happens at the end with Jason's mom.

I don't know maybe the sequel will explain it.

Update / it didnt.

The Lost City (2022)

yet another generic welcome to the jungle movie....but with a twist! Its now a chick flick romantic comedy!
26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A woman in her mid 50s who's desperately trying to hide her age with makeup plays a erotic adventure novelist.

However she just so happens to be the only writer to use some random ass ancient language.

Her knowledge on those obscure characters gets her kidnapped by evil harry potter because he thinks there's a treasure on this island that she wrote about.

But you see...this guy's in love with her so he travels to the island to save her.

But the only problem is that despite being a beefcake he is also very cowardly.

And that creates a bunch of comedic scenarios where he's afraid of stuff.

They eventually find the ancient tomb that the map leads to but it turns out there's no treasure at all! '

but honestly who cares about the treasure?

The journey on the way made the two main characters fall in love.

I usually don't explain the entire movie like this but i honestly feel like a have to i mean...........its really cheesy.

The House (III) (2022)

A fantastic artpiece but at the same time a confusing mess
26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie's divided into 3 sections

the first section is pretty good.

I love the tension it sets up and everything made sense for the most part.

But after that the movie no longer gives you anymore to work with.

Why is society full of furrys now?

Why is the gay rat harassing his dentist?

Why is there a cult of rat bugs?

Why is the world flooding?

Why is the house a boat?

I watched an "analysis" video on this movie and it kept on saying things like "I think this means" and "this probably means"

and even after all that logic stretching at the end of the video all he really said was a man sold his house to the devil and the curse was lifted in the end.

That's it?

What's the point in having so much foreshadowing, metaphorical imagery, and unclear direction if THATS the story you wanted to tell!?

I'm perfectly fine with movies leaving some things up to your imagination.

Hell sometimes that makes the atmosphere that much better.

But this movie leaves literally everything up to your imagination so at that point why not just go to sleep and have a dream.

As i said this movie is best viewed as an artpiece then a "movie" because the atmisphere, music, and especially the animation are all great.

It just falls apart if you're a part of the context fan community.

an interesting movie
26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The animation style kind of reminds me of the lanky Kong reaction video. And it made me just as uncomfortable but I got used to it after awhile

the movie's set during the events preceding the Apollo 11 moon landing

it turns out that it was a child that got to go out in space first. But it was kept under wraps by nasa.

I think this is supposed to be his imagination but it doesn't make it very clear

the first half of the movie is just the main character being very descriptive on what it was like to be a poor family in the 60s

I really liked hearing this guy babble on about his childhood

he does it in such a way that it gives all the family members he's describing their own personality's and it was pretty obvious the writer was loosely basing it off his own childhood

but the way the movie is laid out makes it more of an art piece then anything

I appreciate it for what it is but I'm probably never gonna watch it again.

The Batman (2022)
6/10
yet another overhyped comic book adaptation featuring the mumbling furry
26 July 2022
I'm perfectly fine with people taking a different approach to the hero due to this being the third canon batman universe going on AT THE SAME TIME!

But alas it had too many ideas and to little ambition.

This movie has a bit of Gotham, a bit of Telltale Batman, a bit of batman returns and a bit of se7en all plopped together in a single movie which makes all of them feel underdeveloped.

The movie completely forgets about Alfred's existence in the second half and he pretty much does nothing the whole movie.

There's very little chemistry between characters and the dialogue is super cheesy.

However all the technical aspects of the film are great.

The audio mixing the shots and especially the effects are all top notch so I definitely give it points for that.

Overall its decent but not quit worth the runtime.

a lot better then I expected going in.
26 July 2022
Not to say its not just a run of the mill government conspiracy action flick but its a fun one.

Everything from the stunts to the fight choreography are all very professionally done and it doesn't over rely on CGI

not to say that its even close to perfect.

It suffers heavily from the why wont he just shoot him syndrome that plagues so many action scenes that feature people with guns.

It also lacks any depth in its characters and the story overall wasn't very impactful

but just don't think too much about it and you'll have a good time.

Or maybe you wont but i did and that's all that matters.
