The story takes place in Paris. There is a strong imagine revolved around the father-daughter relationship displayed all throughout the film. Lionel (father) and his daughter Josephine have a bond like no other. The dedication Josephine shows towards having a relationship with her father is admirable. This film goes though the ups and downs of their life. The new relationships they built, the troubles that come with starting over, and they things they give up to make peace with life. After declining 35 shots of rum, Lionel must make the man decisions to start over. However, he always keeps his daughter in mind.

This film is was directed by Claire Denis. Some of the main characters include Nicole Dogue as Gabrielle, Grégoire Colin as Noe, Alex Descas as Lionel and Mati Diop as Josephine. Nominated for Best film a t the 2008 Gijón International Film won a Special Jury Prize.

The 2 main character in the film, Josephine and Loniel display what it means to make scarifies for another person and to make tough decisions with them in mind. These themes in the film make it the heart warming one it is.

I gave this film an 8/10. At times it can be heard to follow. However, the lessons leaned from such a short film make it so special. At the end of the day, I would recommend this film to the older generation. Just because I personally feel like the relationship with parents can sometimes slip in those developmental years. It is important to remain humble and to sho sacrifices for the ones you love.

This film tells the heart wrenching story of Sandra, a low class women in the working class system. Her life is flipped upside down when she loses her job. With the help of her husband by her side, she has the ability to start a new life for herself. The strength she has to rebuild her life throughout the film is extremely admirable. However, no everything comes so easy. She faces a hard battle with depression and the new twists and turns of her life aren't helping her heal. When her healing turns into more of a drug abuse, she realizes she can't not live this life forever. In the end, her decisions show the same strength she had through the entire film.

The film is directed by Luc Dardenne and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. The film received multiple awards such as Best actress for Marion Cotillard (Sandra), Best forge in language film, and top 10 best films of 2014. The film was nominated for over 20 more awards. Overall, this film is extremely successful.

2 important themes in this film include the act of drug abuse and the act of perseverance. Any person watching this film that has abused drugs can learn a lesson from Sandra. Turning towards the one thing that you think is helping you get through everyday could be the end of you life in a second. Secondly, the act of perseverance. Perseverance through the drug abuse, not being afraid to ask for help (shown in multiple different ways throughout this film).

Overall, I would strongly recommend this film. I believe there are multiple life lessons that can be taught to anyone who lays eyes on this film. I think this film could be beneficial for the younger generation the most.

Overall, I would rate this film a 8/10. The character development and focus on telling a deeper meaning are what make this such a great film. Learning to escape the cycle of bad habits is not an easy one. Francois is a prime example of what it means to start over. Sometimes it is not always about the journey, but what is the outcome of your decisions. The emphasis on character development is shown a lot throughout the film. From dealing with a rocky relationship with his mother, to being in the drug scene, Francois has multiple breakdowns throughout the film. However, with the help of Lamya, his world is flipped upside down.

The director, Roman Gavras tells the story of the couple who beat all odds and made a life for themselves. However, it may not be a life full of opportunity. The film takes place in Africa in the Magreb region.

Awards for this movie include :Best Supporting Actress for Isabelle Adjani and Most Promising Actor for Karim Leklou. There are no awards for the film as a whole.

In the end, I would highly recommend this film. I would recommend this film to anyone 18 and up. Since this film deals with the idea of drugs and crime is why I would say 18 and up. However, the story between the mother and son hardships can display a good lesson for the younger generation.
