Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Decent
Decent show, good acting and cast, definitely best K-drama I've ever seen, I would probably never rewatch it but it isn't necessarily bad, it is definitely overrated though, I liked the violence and gore, also unlike most K dramas the plot doesn't seem like it was put together in a day and the movie doesn't look like it was filmed by a teenager with an old camera that they found in their basement, also the editing/green screen is a lot better than expected, and most of the actors are hot so they made it easy to watch hahahah.. Also it isn't too long, nor is it too short, which is good because I can't watch things for a prolonged amount of time.
Orphan (2009)
It's alright
It is a decent movie, the plot doesn't really make any sense what so ever but since this takes place in a sorta-fictional world it doesn't have to make sense. The plot is somewhat absurd and seems to be deliberately stretched out to seem longer and more complex, I wouldn't ever see myself rewatching this movie, sure I would recommend it to a certain crowd of people, but I wouldn't think of it first thing when someone asks me for movie suggestions, it is sort of a decent, kinda overrated, common late 2000s movie, nothing much to it, but it isn't bad by any means.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Perfect
I don't usually refer to movies as "perfect" or give them ten star reviews, this on the other hand was in fact a perfect movie, it was beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, it gave off "The Joker" vibes, the music wasn't cringey pop or something like that, it actually fit with the movie, and made it better even. The acting, unlike most movies I've seen really gets you in tune with the characters' emotions, the actors are wonderful and charming. It's funny in a Dark Comedy type way. The storyline is very on point, it isn't all over the place and the movie really makes you think, about everything, it's a masterpiece, 10/10 stars for sure.
Ballerina (2016)
Animation problems
When I was a kid I used to watch this CONSTANTLY, one of the best cartoons I've ever seen from kid me's point of view, I just rewatched it and realized that the animation is weird, the expressions are somewhat over exaggerated, the storyline is still good though, but the expressions are not very believable and seem kinda off? Also the physics are very off in the movie but I don't think any scientists will watch this and care haha.
Black Widow (2021)
.. maybe just not for me..?
The acting in the movie was great, I am fluent in Russian, and my whole family is from there, but I could barely understand a word they said in Russian, the english as well was just as hard to understand, they had strong accents in both of the languages, the movie felt very jumpy, I was confused on what was going on half of the time, and my friend fell asleep towards the end, the storyline was very random, and the editing wasn't all that good either, I haven't watched many Marvel movies though, so maybe I'm just not grasping something??? Personally I was waiting for this movie to be over the whole two hours, it felt like a chore to watch after my friend bought us tickets, since I didn't want to be rude. Maybe the character arch and storyline was better understood by other people because they were marvel fans in general and had already memorized some of the names and what the hell was going on, but me personally, I didn't get half of the things that were happening, having watched only some marvel movies before, I can say for certain that they were better than this.
The Sons of Sam: A Descent Into Darkness (2021)
Poor pacing
The first episode is great, I think they tried their best to stretch the story for four episodes when it easily could have been for two or one episode, there are many completely unnecessary details, they state many topics multiple times, and for the most part just talk about conspiracy theories surrounding the case, I think this could have worked out much better if they just made it two episodes long instead of trying to force it into four episodes.
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
Very interesting
This show is practically a podcast, it looks at different issues in the world and thoroughly dissects them and gives you people's perspectives on them, the artwork in the background is beautiful, the themes are very scattered but that's what makes the show interesting, you never know what will happen next. Great show!! I wish they would make more seasons and episodes, that would be amazing!!
BoJack Horseman (2014)
Really makes you think
This is a brilliant show, I have rewatched it many times, the details are very thought through, and the show itself is wonderfully put together, the characters are looked at very deeply, their thoughts, feelings, emotional distress, this show gives you a glimpse at what other people may be going through, mental health issues, and everything really, just a great show to binge.
Lady Bird (2017)
Great movie
This was my comfort movie for the longest time, it's truly very great, the acting, the theme of the show, it is very slow paced and realistic, that's what makes it great, there is not much tension or thrill in this show, but you get to see what the main character goes through and her daily life, at times it even feels like you are the main character, or are living in the same reality as her.
It Chapter Two (2019)
An Improvement?
It was better than the first movie in the sense that the actors put much more emotion into the acting, and just made it more interesting to watch, but the storyline seemed to be going in all different directions unlike in the book, It was both worse and better than the last movie, but both were mediocre.
It (2017)
Good show
It was a good show, wasn't scary, and did not really have much meaning, if I was scared of clowns I would've probably gave a higher rating, but no, the acting was great but I liked the book much better, since it dove into the details and was better put together, still a good movie though.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
Great show to binge!
This show was funny, thrilling, even scary at times, the acting is very good, and the scenarios are very realistic, I loved watching this show, and I watched it two or three times, not life changing, but a thought through, well put together show.
Joker (2019)
Fantastic movie
I do feel like it was overhyped, but it was a great movie, the character is a thought through individual, the acting is astounding, the movie itself seems thought through, this movie really makes you think as well, it shows the struggles with mental illness, and you don't completely know what exactly is happening at all times, especially at the very end, truly a great movie.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Horrible
It would be good if the audience was expecting something different, I guess, the targeted audience seemed to be DC enthusiasts but this seemed to have absolutely nothing to do with DC, the theme was a complete disaster, truely disappointed especially since the only reason I watched this in the first place was to see the cool villains like Harley, the joker, the enchantress, who all got barely any screen time to themselves, truly a disaster of a movie that had nothing to do with DC, nothing to do with the title, and the trailer was very misleading.
Us (2019)
Not worth it
The beginning of the movie was good, and so was the ending, the whole middle is a complete dread to watch, boring and not scary at all, if you do watch it, it will only be for the start and the finish, the whole middle can just be discarded and it would be a much better movie.
Midsommar (2019)
For certain audiences
I loved the gore, very disturbing and I loved that so much, the problem is that I was waiting to get scared, which I was not, if I knew that it wasn't scary from the start, I would've watched it with completely different expectations leading to a better feel of the movie. It's a good movie as well, it was just very unexpected therefore a little uncomfortable since I was watching it with my mom as well, which I do not recommend doing. It is for a certain audience and I know a lot of people can't handle this kind of content. The best way to describe it is probably if you've ever been to the second page of google and clicked on one of the links.
Freak Show (2017)
Had potential
This movie had potential. There were scenes that gave me chills down my spine but it was a sprinkle of those scenes on top of the wasted time I spent watching this movie, it wasn't horrible, but It definitely was not good, the acting was mediocre, the plot wasn't there, it was very scattered, somewhat confusing, and extremely over exaggerated. I feel that if a little more time was put into this movie it could've been a masterpiece, but it wasn't.
Scream (1996)
Overrated
The only reason I somewhat like it is because it is a classic, other than that it's pretty bad, it really is, there is absolutely nothing scary about it, I love horror movies, but this one I would only watch for that classic movie vibe. It is not scary, and does not strike me as a good horror movie, overrated.
American Horror Story (2011)
Decent Drama Thriller
I don't see this being a horror, It isn't scary what so ever, maybe a drama, somewhat thriller? As a horror show, I would rate it 2 stars but as a show in general maybe a 7 or an 8, it isn't bad after all, it's a decent show, some seasons better than others, but I started watching it with expectations of getting scared, a sensation I did not feel while watching this, still a great show though, nonetheless. It gives off an old vibe since the editing is poor and the themes are scattered, but I have a feeling this might have been intentional to give off a certain vibe, so I am not going to nit pick that aspect of the show.
The Ring (2002)
A must watch!!!
Brilliant movie, I loved the theme, the acting was wonderful and it was very creepy, I love horror and can never find anything unsettling enough, but THIS, This was worth the watch, though the second time I watched it through with a friend, it felt more like a documentary than a horror movie, still worth it though!! The plot is great but when you really think about it it makes no sense whatsoever.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Underwhelming
Hill House was amazing and I think the producers got wayyy ahead of themselves and just made a spin off of that, it builds tension somewhat but then lets go and there is really no catch or hook to this story, I kept getting distracted while watching it and had to sit down to watch it multiple times to just get through two episodes without dozing off. The details that were eerie were very acute and you realllyyyy had to pay attention to even understand what was supposed to be scary half of the time, this is more a drama with sprinkled in eeriness, also I'm not sure if it was the actors or the people they were acting but they annoyed me sooo much how dumb and unaware they were half of the time. This was a dread to watch, and mind you I love horror movies.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Hidden Gem
I love horror, some might even refer to me as a horror enthusiast, but there aren't many horror movies and shows that genuinely scare me, are at all interesting, or are different from the other hundreds of horror movies and shows that I've watched, this on the other hand, blew my mind, I've watched it four or five times, and every watch was 100% worth it, I love how this movie skips from childhood to adulthood in each of the main characters, I love how it's organized and thought through, there are so many details that you don't nitice the first watch through so it's great to rewatch this series as well, the acting is spectacular, this is definitely a hidden gem, and worth the watch 100%.
My Friend Dahmer (2017)
Pretty Good
This movie is a hidden good, at least in my book, it takes a dive, not so deep but a dive nonetheless into Jeffrey Dahmer's adolescence, it shows you his horrible upbringing and the things he'd experienced, it isn't very violent, there aren't many death scenes, if you want more gruesome movies about him, this is not the one for you, but if you're just trying to figure out what might've been going through his mind or just how he became who he is, this is the movie for you! The acting is really good, I'm not sure why many people here don't agree with this statement, but you have to realize that Jefrey was a psychopath, so of course he wouldn't show emotion like a mentally stable person would, and I think the actor pulled that off wonderfully. The reason I didn't give this a higher rating is because some scenes are over exaggerated or are just not how things happened most likely, and just don't make sense all together, such as the cutting the fish open scene, where he brutally ends the fish's life by stabbing it many times and cutting it very messily, you have to realize that this person wanted to know what was inside the fish so he would most likely do maybe one or two cuts and then gently open it and not just turn it into mashed fish jam. The movie also features a lot of scenes where Dahmer pretends to be disabled or pretends to have seizures, which is right, according to the book, but it seems to me that the movie could have included a lot more detail and precision or could've just been shorter if it wasn't chalk full of those scenes alone.
