The Christmas Retreat (2022)
Wholesome Christmas movie
I liked this movie. It's light-hearted, the acting is pretty good, and it has a holiday warmth that you'd expect from the Hallmark Christmas movies. The romance is sweet between Mark and Kim, as well as her mom and Ted. I'm glad Kim had some character building throughout the film. She went from being self-absorbed, career obsessed, and conflicted emotionally woman, to a more grounded, kind, and loving partner and daughter. Her boyfriend, Steven, was a jerk and really was just the typical placeholder character in these sort of movies. Predictable, yes. Enjoyable, yes. It was a cute movie overall.
Stoker (2013)
Don't bother with this
I am disappointed. This movie attempts to be artsy and weird and twisty. It's boring and dull. I couldn't care less about any of the characters. The main star "India" is annoying as hell. It's not suspenseful in any way, but totally predictable and far fetched. I completely wasted my time with this one.
Halloween Kills (2021)
One of the best in the franchise!
The shape is back and rougher than ever. The kills are brutal and very well done. The suspense is top tier and this film in particular has successfully tied up loose ends. There storyline is coherent, crafty, and well acted. Lots of homage paid to the original. If you are a horror fan, go see this. You won't be disappointed.
