Beyond the Rocks (1922)
It has been found!
Beyond the Rocks, the only movie which Valentino is in with Gloria Swanson, has been found in an archive in the Netherlands. The film was thought to be lost forever. There were minor problems with the film such as scratches and the like, but those are in the process of being restored. The only major damage affects about two minutes of the film. The Dutch Film Museum is asking Dutch composers to rewrite the musical score for the movie so that it can be played during the showing at an international film festival in the near future. The movie is about a woman who is forced to marry an older man but who falls in love with someone she meets, Valentino, on her honeymoon.
El Dorado (1997)
Not bad, not great
A short summary of this film is that it is about a group of people whose lives become intertwined when they all listen to the same late night DJ in Montreal. Interesting story, could use a little more polishing though.
Bubbles Galore (1996)
The worst movie I have ever seen
I have seen a lot of bad movies, but this is by far the worst I have seen. Horrible camera work, almost complete lack of plot and no sort of logical anchor at all, this movie painfully drags the viewer through an hour and a half of sex and mild violence without explaining anything. At the end of the movie the audience is left wondering what the heck happened, as the ending makes no sense and is just painful to watch as it is filmed with a bright but faded look to it, screeching drowning any dialogue attempted (not that any dialogue could have saved this movie, even at the beginning). Avoid this movie at all costs.
Weird TV (1994)
WeirdTV was amazing!
It's almost impossible to describe WeirdTV. It's the kind of show that you either loved it or hated it, and if you loved it, odds are you have quite a few problems.
WeirdTV was a collection of weird segments and captured events such as the Burning Man Festival. There were a few recurring segments on the show, such as Shadoevision, etc. Sometimes the show made you think, sometimes it made you cringe, but it almost always made you laugh. It's a real shame that it was cancelled. I believe you can still stream some stuff from their site. If you find any tapes in a movie store or a bargain bin of some shop, I recommend you snatch them up!
Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)
If you liked the first one, you'll like this one
The cast (well, the surviving cast) from Jack Frost are back for more, and this time they're on a tropical island! How can a snowman survive on a tropical island? Who knows. Somehow Jack manages to freeze the entire island and it's up to the people of Snowmonton to save the day.
Much like the first one, Jack Frost 2 is filled with cheesy dialogue, but that's part of its charm. The DVD contains some great features, such as a music video spoof, director's commentary and director's interview (this guy is hilarious!).
So if you liked the first one, check the sequel out. You won't be sorry. And hey, if you didn't see the first one, pick this one up anyway.. it's not like the first one had much of a plot for you to miss! :)
