What is this???
21 June 2013
Knowing Park's best movies for a while with great love and likeness. Especially brilliant Oldboy. Very surprised, after heard about directing a Hollywood movie with Nicole Kidman. Can you believe i can't even finish first 30mins, it took nearly a week to watch whole of it!

Nicole Kidman The Goddess of Hollywood! But what was she upto there?

Are you kiddin' ? its a Chan-wook's movie!

so i would like to delete my time spent watching Stoker.

Pleaseee!!!!

and Please go and watch Vengeance Trilogy.

cause this movie not representing any of Park's work.

Perfect Touch to the Turkish Drama Genre
16 February 2013
I am a big fan of Turkish and World Art-house Drama and Romantic movies. Looking for the festivals and big directors of era especially Haneke,Trier and Ceylan and Kim Ki-duk. But today i found just another one named Yeşim Ustaoğlu. You can feel the taste of Zeki Demirkubuz and N. Bilge Ceylan's movies in her last shot. By the way Shooting the drama movies aren't so easy in these days. There are a few movies in genre to keep you make feel the real pain and sadness for example Haneke's Amour and Zeki Demirkubuz's Kader.

Don't like to write much and spoil the movie but just one word; you should see the dramatic story of Zehra (Neslihan Atagül) who was captivated in between love ,trust and fate in the hands of darkness and pain.

just another Fabulous Turkish cinema a must see...

a Journey through a Man's Mind
21 October 2012
Foremost i don't have any direct connection with director , i am just a cinephile who loves worldwide-cinema especially made by well respected director's.

As i had been waiting Zeki Demirkubuz's latest movie Yeraltı , i was a bit upset at the end. In addition to this you can still smell his chaotic vision like previous movies but this time i think he seriously got annoyed to someone and tried to say his "replies" to them via character made by Engin Günaydın.

This can't say i dislike the movie but i think Tales of Darkness trilogy or Kader is better then this or even Masumiyet. You should watch those before coming to Yeraltı i suppose. Like you ought to do with Kim Ki-Duk's movies to understand those kind of extraordinary visioneers outstanding way of looking to the cinema. I can give many examples like Haneke or von Trier even van Sant. Ki-duk is the first one came in because of my obsession on Korean cinema.

Something about Engin Günaydın , i think he was tremendously worked on constructing the character and did a great job , you would agree with me.

Frankly saying that Demirkubuz's legacy should go on , cause real-Turkish cinema audience need that kind of directors which born and raised in our very country. So then we can be more familiar to their drawings on scene not like FreakShow puppet master's works for douchebags , i mean fat-ass comedies.

By the way Zeki Demirkubuz still great , still a priceless director for Turkey.

Please watch and support his great vision , as i do for years...

Nightmare on Cruise Street
3 August 2011
O Boy!

that's wrecked my down ,i can't just believe how i missed that movie for so long , For Acting case ,Diaz,Cruise and Cruz ...they are just terrific, and director i guess persuaded them nicely that they were gorgeously make drugged like act...

Maybe it was the finest of Cruise , as an acting i mean. And also he was the top of his career in those days...

...Also Brilliant soundtrack makes you go deeper in story... You just keep telling yourself what will it be the end of it? good, bad maybe evil... but in the end i found more of it.

Year is near 2012 but believe me fantastically and literally there are a few movies can come closer to this. i love Kim Ki-Duk movies they are Korean you know ,,,with Vanilla Sky i felt the same WTF! effect...

Enjoy...

The Fighter (I) (2010)

Knockout of the Year???
10 January 2011
Well then, movie made me so excited that i'd like to write something about it.

After years and years since A Million Dollar Baby we didn't see such a good boxing-drama themed movie. Let's take a look Christian Bale , can you count how much goddamn kilos did he give-up for the role? or how much hours on recap? i just don't know. Mark Wahlberg i knew he is coming from the streets painted in black-white , now he is there with his finest moment...After disastorious Max Payne game movie he came from his ashes... to make you consider ,i sometimes felt like the movie Wrestler which was Mickey Rourke starring and A Million Dollar Baby , but it was just a feeling...The Fighter is something different something strong that pulls you out from starting to end either with a smile nor tears from eyes.

i could strongly recommend Fighter to anyone who likes to watch 2010 version of Rocky 5 mixed with Wrestler...

guessin' Fighter knocked out the year with a bunch of glory...

Well Done Bale and Wahlberg...

Humanious Sins
17 December 2010
i met Demirkubuz's cinema with a friend recommendation...it was Kader. which i gave 8 on here and a must have...then i started to search on it's previous movies. Bekleme odasi is the final chapter of tales about darkness trilogy so i selected all for advancing more to understand his vision to cinema and ,i wasn't disappointed. Tales about darkness series focusing on sins that we don't like to talk much with anyone even with ourselves.

Demirkubuz's cinema is so heart-to-heart made in so close to real life's problems and human relationships. i also love the timing of endings.

if you love Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Kim-Ki Duk's movies please take a look at Zeki's intellegently visioned humanious sins called tales about darkness ...frist one yazgi and then itiraf the final is bekleme odası. you won't be disappointed as me...

3 December 2010
Greetings ;)

i like to make a shortcut for all readers... surely i can say movie is a sweet comeback for min-sik choi and Byung-hun lee,,,acting nicely done :) ScreenPlay is very addictive...

Before i saw the devil movie; you all should see: old boy - starring min- sik choi / crying fists - starring min sik choi / a bittersweet Life - starring Byung hun Lee / The Chaser & Running Turtle and you mixed up well for the i saw the devil...that means "Drama,Crime & Action = Classic Korea"

and then yourself prepare for the Movie's extraordinary ending. ---the question is "who is the devil after all?" ;)

The Housemaid (2010)

Weak and Powerless...
15 September 2010
Remember Do-yeon Jeon from "Milyang,You are my sunshine" but please forget on Housemaid...

We all know Housemaid is reMake of Hanyo "1960"... but we don't need to compare two films... We just want good Korean Thriller like a Tale of Two Sisters,Chaser,Memories of Murder and etc... Cause they made this quality a habit for us. But Housemaid is somehow so awful and weak on telling what's going down there.there are A few erotic scenes what Do-yeon Jeon's beauty is OK for anyone.

Btw

i had waited Do-yeon Jeon's new movie for months

but very disappointed.

that's what i call Weak and powerless = 5/10

sorry...

The Voice (2010)

Should be a Short-Movie...
10 July 2010
i watched this movie for a two nice stars of Turkey (i knew Selma Ergeç from TV-series Asi and Mehmet Gürsür from L'italiano)

i love Psychological thriller themed movies like Dark Water (japan)and Paranormal Activity and also Ring series both original and US remake so guessing that i can review this title better.

Frankly speaking movie is very weak when we compare with that kind of movies. But in Turkey we hardly see that kind of weakness and quality. Our thrillers are the slashers of 70s US cinema you don't want to remember.

i should say screen-editing is good but actors voice acting sometimes not so persuasive and i felt like words not true. For a movie like this voice acting is far more important ,like in dramas.

By the way you can still watch this movie without great expectations so you can see a good short-movie tasted and a nice try of something in quality , which seen rarely on Turkey ,but not yet finished in any terms. 5/10.

[Rec]² (2009)

Advancing of a Hit.
24 February 2010
I watched REC last year and i got shocked by its unique vision and story telling with realistic characters in full motion.Easy to say that Descent,REC and Eden Lake were the best horror movies of 2009. (You know Hollywood have bad remake of REC named as quarantine.) and now we have The Collector,Triangle and glorious REC II for 2010.

in REC II director push the camera techniques to the limits and giving more like FPS game look realism. there are so many scenes reminding me Metro 2033 game that will be released in a month furthermore not ruff as first one but more detailed more atmospheric more demonic.

Also movie is not so long...so you can'y get bored of it... Just watch and join the green vision...

maybe it is the green light of Spanish horror cinema...again.

don't miss..

no doubt movie can get a green lighted 8...
