The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Best episode so far
I know this upset a lot of folks thinking it was "virtue signaling", but you guys don't seem to realize that the game was largely written by people that don't feel the need to virtue signal, to them it is just a love story, a very well shot, well acted, and meaningful episode. It's things like this, that will separate it from being a "zombie show". We don't need another "zombie show". Last of Us, was about people finding hope in the worst situations possible, this episode nailed that, if you don't like it, fine. But I wouldn't blame HBO, because pretty sure the creator of last of us, doesn't see gayness as something that has to be broadcasted or is anything but normal. Maybe you guys are a little uncomfortable with how much you like Linda Ronstadt.
Kimi (2022)
Okay movie
Spoiler::
I love most films by the director, but felt like the writing was a bit muddy, soooooo we are anti-privacy or pro-privacy, or anti-tech? It didn't make sense with the conclusion being basically her saving herself with said technology that gets removed at the ending. Also thought the conclusion felt a little unrealistic, not that she couldn't be a more than capable person in defending herself, just failed to see how these shadowy professionals in the movie getting paid insane dollar amounts by a tech mogul to clean up his messes would be stupid enough to not look for and know the tech was there for the murder, and then be basically bewildered on what to do by lights turning off and music being turned up.
The Midnight Club (2022)
It's a teen show. You guys should go into it with that in mind
The font used for the posters the time period, all of it screams RL Stine, and Goosebumps. I'm watching it now but haven't finished it off, it's enjoyable, but not something I will rewatch by myself like midnight mass and hill house, but that doesn't mean it's bad, just it's definitely youth adult fiction, I'll watch it with my kids and enjoy it thoroughly. People need to stop rating and assuming everything is bad because it's not what they wanted, but I feel like rating this low is like watching Moana and complaining that it wasn't a more grown up film.
Stranger things definitely universally appealed to all audiences, but also had a secondary adult central cast, this is very specific to teens. And honestly past two seasons of that show have been mediocre fan service.
Y: The Last Man (2021)
Confused on most criticism
The show isn't a gem, at least that's my grip going 1 episode in. I like the lead, I think he portrays Yorick well. He's not supposed to be likable at first, he's a young, immature, impulsive, and enthusiastic kid. If that was your take away, just imagine this is more of not an apocalypse story as much of a love story, mixed with a story about a kid growing and finding himself in this new world.
To those saying this is "Woke", I was honestly more worried about the exact opposite of that. "With no men, there is no future.". I don't really know how that translates into "neo-feminism" or even plain feminism.
This was a comic.....written way before the apocalypse boom in the early 2000s. A fantastic expansive story, that goes through Yoricks entire lifetime. I'm sure a lot, maybe most of you were annoying at some point in your life. Perhaps stop looking at things through a lens of "oh why'd they have to make it a liberal". No ones trying to choke any dogma down your throat on anything here. All the males are dead.....sorry they have strong female leads. I suppose it'd be better if they were all helpless without men? Maybe you don't like seeing people of ambiguous or different ethnic backgrounds in power? No idea what they're trying to force what issue here, are they talking about abortion rights? Talking about proper pronouns? I haven't seen any of it.
Maybe if conservatives were more creative they'd actually be able to make something better for themselves than Kirk Cameron films.
