Vikram (2022)
Not a timeless movie
#AshutoshRana #SadashivAmrapurkar #Kota etc. Could drive the living lights out of the audience in a single straight shot!
#NewAge #Sandhanam #Rolex etc. Inspite of stylized editcuts, mind numbing #BGM remain cold and #Lifeless!
#Vikram isn't #Nayagan #Dasavatharam.
Kerosene (2022)
Content is the New King!
Kerosene scores high on all departments. First and foremost the casting was bang-on. The characters revolve around the story. There is no concept of Hero, Heroin or Villain in this movie. Only the characters rule.
Jayamma Panchayathi (2022)
Timeless Classic
Well made and anytime watch. The script is well written and performed well by all the actors. Many more such movies are required to pull back TFI from the regular movies which are quite emotionless and badly written.
Skylab (2021)
Soul lifting
Amongst all the sad news around the #pandemic and loads of #cringecontent overflow comes a whiff of soul lifting, fresh air called #Skylab!
#Characterisation: as an actor this is my main love and Skylab doesn't disappoint me! Every character is well written and has a conclusion. Be it the leads or the village madman, every character has its own space and contribution to the story!
#Screenplay and #story: as a budding #screenwriter myself, this movie gave me ample chance to dissect and tear apart the different stories woven into one. Although a lot was happening throughout, not once did the main theme of the story take a back seat. Also, the story was devoid of any commercial formula like an #itemsong or #loveaffair. Great casestudy of pure #storytelling!
Special mentions: #Satyadev's best performance for me personally! His performance felt like a fallen leaf drifting on a gentle flowing rivulet. The leaf and the rivulet created a silent rhyme!
#Vishnu, I got to know his calibre and span as an actor, especially having worked closely in another project #Tadiginathom where he plays a diametrically opposite character!
A must watch!
Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana (2021)
A good attemp! Not an epic.
#GarudaGamanaVrishabhaVahana
The basic theme of the movie is 'what comes from the street, goes down the street'. This theme has been seen in numerous movies and the one that stands out with epic proportions is #Nayakan. Hari, a protected child and Shiva, a abused child are two of the main characters. There comes a point in the movie where they both merge into one, with Shiva becoming the physical manifestation of Hari's dark mental personality. The only high point in the movie comes when Shiva empties his accumulated rage on a rowdy-sheeter who tries to threaten Hari. Shiva, is established as a psychopath very convincingly. Beyond this, the series of murders committed by Shiva lack clear motivation i.e. Psychopathic compulsion or sheer love for Hari.
Psychopathic Compulsion: This motivation doesn't fit because, Shiva's years of accumulated rage was beautifully emptied out with his first murder. Being a product of physical and emotion abuse, Shiva as a psychopath, is unlikely to stand with injustice and commit unjust murders for Hari.
Sheer love for Hari: This can't be because Shiva has been shown committing murders at the drop of a hat, but tries to reason with his associates when they try to caution him against Hari instead of killing them. Shiva doesn't even attempt to meet up with Hari to clarify. There is a break in Shiva's character from being an eccentric inward-facing psychopath to a ourward-looking person seeking social approval from friends.
Hari's rise to power is too quick and unopposed and so is his end. After he teases a bunch of teenagers, they kill him! The only character which is well-written and having closure is that of Brahmayya, the Police Inspector. His rage on his subordinate is perfectly justified as it comes from his love of his family. Although, the MLA physically hitting Brahmayya is unjustified, he actually sets Brahmayya on the right path to realise his duty.
A good attempt, nowhere close to an epic!
Chaitanyam (2021)
Gripping Story
Chaitanyam took me in! Smooth story telling and excellent performances!
