The hero showed some promise but overall acting was pretty ordinary. Music was good. Well story had a lot of loopholes and lacked any rhythm whatsoever. For one time watch, well if you don't have anything better to do then watch and forget.

Anushka Sharma as a Gujarati girl.. no charm
30 August 2018
Well the director simply failed to create anything for the audience. Even the dialogues were not really comprehensible and I had to focus a lot to know what those two people were really saying. Anushka Sharma speaking in a Gujarati accent totally killed whatever romantic was left in the movie. Better luck next time.

Worth a watch for Rajesh Khanna / Raaj Kumar pairing
30 August 2018
Pros A good script with powerful cast (Raaj Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Mala Sinha) having some nice dialogues made it worth a watch. Cons Music and climax could have been better.

Script could have been better
30 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Pros Great acting Star cast powerful dialogues

Cons Weak script Especially the coincidence of five family members who are lost from each other meeting each other so frequently was quite funny. Moreover only one villain (Amjad Khan) vs three heroes (Raaj Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra) was also unbalanced.

Devdas (1936)

A sublime tale of sorrow
31 July 2015
Devdas is a story of unfulfilled love and heart melting tragedy. It is an icon of sorrow in Hindi cinema. Such is the excellence of this saga that a lot of people get sadness in their hearts if not tears in their eyes at the end.

This was the first Hindi version of Devdas. If we consider that the movie was made in 1936 and judge it accordingly then I must say it is an outstanding effort and a masterpiece of art. All main actors and supporting cast perform their role in a magnificent manner. The direction and screenplay is very powerful. Cinematography of Bimal Roy deserves applause.

All in all, a must watch for Hindi movie lovers. It is available for free on internet.

Ajay Devgan at his finest
31 May 2010
This movie belongs to Ajay Devgan. One of his best performances I have seen and overall the movie was a fair deal. I really did not get bored through out the movie. Full fledged action sequences and some very good emotional scenes. Music could have been better but it was not bad for me. Script was also so much tight. A must watch for Ajay Devgan fans. Raveena Tandon looked so beautiful in this movie. It was the time when she was in full boom (aatish e jamal) as we say here. Mohnish Behl and Kulbhushan Kharbanda also acted well in their capacities. Saeed Jaffery was OK. But I would have preferred Amrish Puri or Danny in his role. So was the case with Raza Murad. He also fails to let me feel hatred for him.

Meri Bhabhi (1969)

A simple lovable movie
7 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Meri Bhabhi is a simple loving movie. There are also a few other Bollywood movies on the same topic. However this is one is good in a way that it is well directed, well acted and seems natural. All the main cast worked well with Sunil Dutt winning the crowd. Waheeda Rehman was subtle and classic as ever. Kamini Kaushal in the role of "Bhabhi" worked fine. Lalita Pawar and Kanhaiyalal also did well in negative roles. Aruna Irani has a short but cute role. And last, but not the least, Mehmood, really made me laugh. The film is rural based that also I like a lot. A green Himalayan Village. It might have been in Uttar Anchal near Dehradun. Locations were excellent and the sky almost every time was full blue. Music was as per story and some songs were enjoyable. The story revolves around Rajoo and his Bhabhi. His Bhabhi, even after fourteen years of her marriage, is without a child and loves Rajoo as her child. When Rajoo marries Maya, she gets pregnant very soon. And coincidently Shanti, Rajoo's Bhabhi, also gets pregnant. Unfortunately during her last days, Shanti falls from stairs and gets injured. Her child gets wasted. On the same day, Maya is in hospital to deliver her child. She gets a baby boy. Rajoo decides to give the boy to his Bhabhi while she is still unconscious in order to save her life. Maya first disagrees but then she also gets convinced. So, when Shanti awakens, she finds a child near her bed and Rajoo tells her that this is her child. And that Maya gave birth to a dead child. After that their lives get complicated with the advent of Gangajali, Shanti's mother and eventually Rajoo and Maya are to leave that house. What happens next, u can watch the movie...

Zameen e Chaman Gul Khilati Hai Kya Kya.........
2 September 2009
I am a great fan of Raj Kumar. And this movie is as good as other movies of him. Also if you get bonus of Jeetendera (another favorite of mine) and the evergreen Mala Sinha. All the three main actors perform their role in an immaculate manner and I could not find any discrepancy in their performances. The music is also good from Shanker-Jai Kishan. Eastman Colors look very cool. And another different end to a love triangle never seen in any other Hindi movie. Vinod Kumar has done a good job in directing such a wonderful movie. Acting from other crew was also good. Story is about two men falling in love to a woman and one of them managing to marry her and then losing her due to his own deeds. And then the other man managing to get her respect even though he was not able to win her heart in the first place. Recommended from my side to everyone.

Well.........Break Up Hua Hi Nahin............:)
19 August 2009
They tried to break up but it did not happen at all. A good movie finally after a long time. May be after Jaane Tu........ this is the movie I watched and did not feel bore. Saif Ali Khan was simply superb. All emotions at the right time at the right moment. Nearly Perfect. Deepika was also good but at some places she did not produce the right emotions. But I am sure she will polish herself with experience. Rishi Kapoor was great. He is really cool and as he said he was really handsome during his time. Music was also cool. The only scene which was bogus was when Saif takes the bride away! It was really poorly executed and could have been made better by giving viewer a better idea of how he entered the house and the room where girl was sitting. A must watch for all.

Not expected from Nagesh Kukunoor
14 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is an awful movie. The scenes and dialogues both are quite below average. I respect Nagesh Kukunoor for 3 Deewarein and Iqbal, but this movie cannot be compared to them. The script seems to be written in quite haste. Although the first 30 minutes or so kept my interest in the movie but it was difficult to keep eyes on the screen after assault on Jai's mother. I also do not agree with Jeet's philosophy that he kills his father, mother and almost his brother just for the sake of money and moreover he did not give any time to them to justify themselves. And what a horrible character Ayesha Takia had. After knowing what happened to Jeet and also in picture of what Jeet's family think about him, she did not make any attempt to unify them. Javed Jaffery's character was also quite unimpressive. I do not understand why a beautiful girl like that medical assistant would fall for him. All in all I did not like the movie. May be because almost all thrillers of Hollywood are more or less the same type and I was expecting something special from a talented man like Nagesh Kukunoor.

Good Story, Musical
13 January 2006
The story of the movie is already written in the plot summary. So there is no need to repeat it. The film has a very good plot. Mala Sinha is excellent while Manoj Kumar is above average. From the other actors, Shashikala, I think, is quite successful in performing the role of a careless wife and mother. Manmohan Krishna also impressed me in the role of a trustee and a father. Overall the performance of all the cast was very good.

The music of the film is its main plus point. Each and every song made me lost. Especially, "Yeh Hariyali aur Yeh Rasta" was most wonderful. While "Lakhon Taare Aasmaan Mein" was most absorbing. Shanker-Jaikishan deserves appreciation. The direction is also good but it is not flawless. There are some scenes that were not needed. Especially the humour is not treated well. The climax also did not satisfy me. That is why I have given the movie 8 out of 10.

Overall a treat to watch but if you want to enjoy it, enjoy it with full concentration and peace of mind. Recommended for music lovers, fans of Mala Sinha and if you want some taste of 60's.

Alice in the wonderland
5 March 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Lets review the movie again. All goes a little O.K. until Doctor Gosai goes to jail. Now comes the problem. I am unable to understand why there was not even a single attempt made by him to prove himself innocent and by the way, when he signed the clearance of vaccines, why did not he go to police and tell them the truth that he has signed N.O.C. under death threat? When Tony feels guilty, why does he not himself go to court and tell that he was the one who got the papers signed from Gosai. When Vikas Patel gets a bullet in his shoulder, how can he smile in front of Tony and tell him that he was looking for him? The actions scenes were one of the worst ever made. Bobby Deol is a brilliant action hero but is wasted by poor actions. What was the action director doing? I think the finances were finished at the end of the movie and that is why its climax comes so suddenly but it was good because by that I was saved from trouble of seeing more piece of crap. Mr. Dhanoa! come on, direction is not your piece of cake. So muchhhhhhhh sillllllllyyyyy mistakes cannot be tolerated.

For viewers, skip this one for your own sake.

My first Hindi movie
2 March 2005
The main thing why the movie is so special for me is because this was the first Hindi movie I had ever seen. At that time I was about seven years old. I fell in love with this movie. Still today, after fourteen years, I love this movie. It is a comparatively unknown movie. The movie is a love story.

Arun is a final year student in the college. Shalni, a class fellow falls in love with him. She is a good poet. She sends her poetry to college magazine and Arun incidentally reads it. Her poetic name is Seema. Arun has a great respect for Seema because he has sung Seema's poem in the college annual function and becomes popular. He and Shalni has a bad relationship in college and he does not know that Shalni loves him. After his completion of masters, he wants to find a job as he has no one in the world and he was studying on scholarship. In this period of crises, Shalni plans with her friend that why not she should help him build his career as a singer. But she does not want herself to be known to Arun as his career maker. She writes songs in magazines and collects funds for Arun's shows. Basically all the money is her. And then Arun becomes a star. What happens next I think should be known by watching the movie.

Music, acting and direction are great. Don't miss this one. Beware it is a little bit sad. But it is a complete story.

Excellent background music
24 February 2005
One of Aamir Khan's earlier movies, it may have not been watched as much as other latest releases of him. But the movie is a very cute lovestory. Aamir Khan as a disobedient college student looks very good and Neelam was very beautiful. The story is not very outstanding but it was O.K. The music is also not bad. The main beauty of the movie for me is its background music.

Marks analysis: Aamir Khan(1) + Neelam(1) + Other cast(1) + Music(1/2) + Direction(1/2) + Script(1/2) + Dialogues(1/2) + Locations(1/2) + Personal Attraction(1) + Background Music(1). Total = 7.5

Median = 8

The best of the best
24 February 2005
This movie is the best I have so far seen from the Bollywood (I have seen more than 800 films). I just cannot describe the movie. It is just perfect. Each and every scene, each and every dialog looked perfect. The music, one of the most memorable and the story, just excellent. I have watched the movie more than ten times and so far I have not found even a single mistake or some thing like that which could be said improper. Even the last action scene was so perfect that I have very rarely seen such proper directed scenes. If you have not watched the movie, just watch it now. But remember one thing. There should be complete pin drop silence in the room and no body should talk until the end of the movie.

Madhumati (1958)

Very Good Plot
23 February 2005
The movie is the story about a hilly village, Shyamnagar. One of the most important things in the movies of 50's and 60's was that they shown strong characters and each and every word that the characters spoke shown a sense of strength. Madhumati is no exception. The direction is excellent. Bimal Roy was on his road to be a legend after Madhumati. Dilip Kumar and Vijayantimala played another great roles after their success in Devdas. Music was another strength of the movie. The songs "Suhana Safar" and all others created history. Pran also played his role exceptionally well. The movie is recommended for everyone.

The main drawbacks of the movie were:

1. The scene in which Dilip Kumar saves a child from the horse of Pran was really poor. Dilip Kumar comes from a long way and it is shown that the child was very near to the coming horse, so it was totally impossible for someone to come from 200 meters and save a child.

2. The voice "Aaja Re Pardesi" of Vijayantimala that comes from the hills creates a sense of mystery in Dilip Kumar but there was nothing like that. In fact, it should have been shown like a girl singing in hills but it looks as if a spirit is singing.

3. When Pran invites Dilip Kumar to make his portrait, he refuses in less than a second, but he should have waited for at least two seconds. Then he says that he is busy but he was enjoying the scenery. So when Pran says that yes he is seeing how much busy he is, he does not show any kind of expression that may show that if Dilip Kumar is busy, and he has no time for making my portrait, then what is he doing there at the moment.

An Action-Packed Social Drama
20 February 2005
Anth is the story about crime, society and revenge. In one line, Vijay takes revenge of the rape of her sister. Now, the way in which, Sanjay Khanna shows the story is the thing. The main strength of the film is Sunil Shetty's action and Paresh Rawal in the role of Dablaa Seth. These two things are just amazing. The music of the film is a drawback. It should have contained some good songs. The story, screen play, dialogs, action and all other things are well executed. From me, if you are a Sunil Shetty fan or a fan of action movies, watch this movie and then vote. Seven plus is a surety from me. Makrand Deshpandey was also excellent in the movie.

Sir (1993)

Good Music-Good Acting
20 February 2005
Sir is a story about a professor who makes a shy personality into something lively. The role of professor is played by veteran Naseeruddin Shah and that shay personality is none other than Pooja Bhatt. In between this, the professor also tries to change the mind of two underworld dons, Velji Bhai and Jimmy but the attempt remains unsuccessful. Again Mahesh Bhatt (I love you) describing relationships and personalities and characters and so on, along with something very romantic by Anu Malik. That romantic thing is music. "Aaj Hum Ne Dil Ka Har Kissa", "Sun Sun Sun Barsaat Ki Dhun" and "Yeh Ujli Chaandni Jab Hasraton Ko", are worth listening. The story may look quite boring in the second half for the viewers. But for me, it was fair.

Excellent music plus Mahesh Bhatt
20 February 2005
Why I have given this movie 10/10 is because of its romantic, melodious, lovely and cool music. The music of a life time, the music forever. Then comes Mahesh Bhatt. Mr.Mahesh Bhatt! you are my best director. Your description of relationships in life, your view of love is most agreeable. Yes readers, this is how he shows that when you love some thing, love it from the depth of your heart. There are relationships in his movies. Readers would say that relationships are there in every movie. Yes its true but watch the difference in Mahesh Bhatt's description and description of other film makers. If you have watched Aashiqui, watch the relationship between Rahul and his friend and then between Rahul and his mother. Are they not executed brilliantly?

A Complete Entertainment
7 February 2005
Tum Bin is an excellent movie in all respects. The story, screenplay, dialogs, direction, cinematography, acting and music all are excellent and that is why I think it was a hit movie of 2001. All the movie is shot in Canada. The scenery was out standing. All the leading cast was unexperienced but all of them have done a great job. A complete entertainment I would say. Although it is a lovestory, but there is also some humor and that is also very good. The songs are fabulous. Especially the song " Chhoti Chhoti Raatein" was very nice. The ghazal "Koi Faryad" also touches your heart. Sandali Sinha looks quite beautiful.

Some things remain to be explained
6 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Pritish Nandy Communications is doing well as this is their seventh movie within a span of three years. Though this is the first movie with prominent stars otherwise only Chameli had a star like Kareena Kapoor. Getting to the movie, I think it was a nice attempt. Sanjay Dutt, Ashwariya Rai, Zayed Khan and all other actors perform their role honestly. Especially Sanjay Dutt should be given some credit as he was being seen in a different role after a long time, otherwise for the last five years, either he was seen as a comedian or a bhai (underworld man). The songs were also nice. What was unique in the movie was its script. But I do not appreciate it because ( I think) there were some flaws in it. May be the director wanted to make a sequel of the movie because the story was not complete yet as viewer do not know what happened to Yash and how Antra saves Shaukat. Another thing is where had the last page of the story gone. Was Ashwariya acting in front of Sanjay when she was weeping that Zayed has written that he was going to die? All these questions were unanswerable for me after I watched the movie.

A good social family drama
2 February 2005
I have seen this movie and would like to say that the movie is interesting to watch. The script is good and director Satyen Bose's hard work can be seen by watching the movie. The music is nice although not excellent. The acting is very good. Balraj Sahini is one of my favorite actors and he really suited in the role of a sensible father and doctor. Acting of star cast i.e. Biswajeet and Mala Sinha was also very good. At least watch it for one time if you get a chance. The movie reflects the social status of a woman when she is pregnant without marriage and deep love of a woman who accepts all kind of opposition but does not give any guilt to her beloved. On the other hand, the movie also reflects treatment of a helpless in the society of Sub-Continent.

A so so Family Drama
19 January 2005
The movie is basically made to introduce Dev Anand's son, Sunil Anand in the Bollywood. But the movie has many flaws in direction and script. The dialogues were also not very effective and the music was also not a hard work. Still I will recommend the movie to be watched for one time because if you do not see the movie, you cannot give a judgement to it. Acting by Raj babbar and Smita Patil was excellent. Biswajeet also played a very good role as a villain. The last scene when Varun was caught among elephants was fairly picturised. Other than that, the scenery was also fair especially in the second half. I would not like to watch it for a second time.

Something about reincarnation...?
19 January 2005
After watching the movie, I think that there should be a type "reincarnation" in your genre section. It is because the story of the movie revolves around reincarnation of Prabhat (Biswajeet) and Reshma (Nishi). Howerver, commenting about the movie, I will say that the movie was good to watch for one time. It cannot be rated as above average but if you have not watched it, at least watch it for one time. You will not feel bored. The music was not out standing but O.K. In fact I did not like the music while watching the movie. The acting was good. The dialogues were also good. The picturisation was also nice in the green hills of Himachal Pradesh (although the movie was Black & White). Mehmood, as a comedian did a very good job. The best thing of the movie was its script. The script is basically what is shown in the movie. So, the script was very good.

Excellent
1 January 2003
The movie is very nice. The story is not very strong but there is style and it matters. Mahesh Manjrekar, Sanjay Dutt as Sankees are out standing. What can I ask about the acting of Sunil Shetty, he looks too strong in his role. Amitabh Bachchan, Lucky Ali and Kumar Gaurav are all excellent. The style and dialogues of the movie suits the movie 100 percent. The music is fabulous. It is one of the best by Anand Raj Anand. Especially "Ishq Samandar' and "Maahi Way' have been sung by great passion.
