Who Are You? (2019)
Good, but it be better
The idea of the project is beautiful and the use of colours is fantastic. Unfortunately there were moments the story was forced and the characters had bad lines, making it seam to much amateur.
Best Sellers (2021)
A great story with the wrong director
Undoubtedly it was a film of an easy-target industry. In the plot there is no real critics to the society we live on, it would be great if it did, mainly because of the thematic in Harris Shawn's book we could had more critics of the real world. However that was not a problem, because it was well written with this great soft style, being just an idealistic story. So, it's perfect for a hard working day, when you go home and just want to chill out. It's a story that brings no worries nor anything to think of, but at the same time it hardly brings an emotion to the spectators.
The actors were flawless, but what really destroyed the movie was how Lina Roessler directed it in a controversial way, there are moments we see an amazing photograph and marvelous shots, but there are moments that the camera angle is so horrible you get confusing who the main character is and its relationship with power on the scene and for most of the film we have an awful lighting and use of colors that show an amateur director that haven't mastered so much of what is essencial for filmmaking. And there is also how, sometimes, the camera transitions are just horrible and not compatible to the scene being shot.
So it was a film that had everything to become a great work, unfortunately what destroyed it, was the bad director's skills.
Mainstream (2020)
This movie innovates bringing back what cinema's art used to be
The low ratings of the film it's only because of its magnificence. It brings back what cinema used to be in movements like La Nouvelle Vague. It's not a critic to the powerful elite nor dictatorial governments, it is critic to our ordinary life, it critics our attitudes. And not in the superficial way we are used to, it is in an intense way we can't handle. And that is the reason why it received such bad reviews, low ratings, it was because we, the viewer, are constantly attacked. And not by a good guy, not by a hero, because if it were, we could bear, we would think: "I'm sorry, man, but I am not a saint", but when it is a mad man who shows us what the problem is, when a lunatic shows us we are horrible person inside, we start to feel anguish and then repudiate the movie for its geniality. There is the need to deny the movie as a masterpiece so we can bury inside of each of us the knowledge of our own hypocrisy. Certainly this is not a Hollywood movie, this is, undeniably, cinema with its most pure essence. And the way Gia Coppola does that it's not only through a good plot and use of lines like most directors would, she uses strong and tense scenes to give the spectators a miscellaneous felling of repugnance, obnoxiousness and anguish.
And not it's not only the critics that makes the movie so unique. Gia Coppola uses colors and pallets to tell the story throughout every scene we can see colors have meaning and it's used to guide the audience to have a feeling. The colors alongside the amazing camera technics gives one mesmerizing photograph of the film. It's beautiful, unique and at the same time completely audacious, doing justice to all of this genius's work.
Also, we can't forget about the gorgeous characters development in which is captured the human nuances in different scenarios of power in only 94 minutes. It is completely amazing how real this movie is, and that is why he is so shocking, it is real.
Therefore I may conclude saying I wish there will be more films like this one for our society need movies like this. And for Gia Coppola I tell you this, don't grieve for the low ratings and acceptance of the movie, it just happened because your masterpiece worked and affected people, so congratulations, because now I will follow your work with high expectations for this is one of the greatest works of its time.
A precise film for the pandemics.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
Just another happy movie to watch in your empty moments
Just like we expect for those childish movies, this is a soft animation to see with your kids or when you don't want to see a movie just to chill out. It's doubtless that your kids will enjoy, there's good comedy and the storyline is hypnotic (for a child) and there are a few moments a children can feel related to, such as being different than the parents, wanting to impress them and how bullying affects their lives outside school. And they also may get with the beautiful song of Tim's daughter stuck in the head.
Now to an adult, the movie brings problems we face when growing up, but only the two brothers separating that innovated, the rest were only cliches. The movie brings also one critic about the society, but it's just the same old "cellphones are gonna brain wash you" and in a superficial way.
The end was not just a happily ever after, it led the viewer to expect to have a sequel (through series or movie), because there is one moment in the end something happens that the main characters don't know about, ending the movie with a question.
Therefore, there is no doubt the first movie was so much better. Although this one couldn't surprise me, it still is a great movie to watch during dinner or in family time.
Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans (2021)
The plot twist in my opinion: How the obnoxious end is actually a masterpiece, a work from a genius mind
Undoubtedly "Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans" is a memorable film. Most of the franchises lost their meaning in the middle of the way, becoming only blockbusters, money makers movie, such as "Star Wars", "Jaws", "Batman and Robin", "The Godfather" and so much others, but with the Trollhunters's universe it were different. The show wasn't turned into a franchise for someone's profits or changed it's story for money, it followed a plan all along and that is the saddest parts about the end, because it is completely impossible to watch the movie without a miscellaneous felling of anguish, anger, nuisance, nostalgia and most of all perplexity, most of all because Jim leading Toby to be the chosen one was like if everything that we lived while following Jim for the last 5 years were vanished from reality. How could everything that were, return to how it should be? And then the thought of Mr. Blinky being like a father to Jimbo, all that love disappearing to most probably never returning brings such an anguish that destroys the spectator's chest. The inevitable felling and desire for answers, what will happen next, and never knowing it is so horrible. So for those who desire to never live their lives with this depressive felling for the rest of their lives I really suggest you stopping the film at 1:31:39 so you avoid this dark felling to follow you through your heart.
"Rise of the Titans" the one which ends the Arcadia Tales's franchise is composed with epic battles alongside heartbreaking farewells, such intense moments were leading to one of the greatest ends of all cinematographic franchises yet. The opening, the photograph of the film that were used to create such indelible moments, giving life and intensity to the scenes, the use of colors, shades, blocking and camera movement to mesmerize the viewer in the felling of belonging there. During the film we have no doubt it's made by Guillermo Del Toro. And then the last 14 minutes of the movie happens and all of the perfection of the movie was destroyed. We hate the end with all heart and soul, but actually, why? Why does this happen?
There is no doubt we were desiring for an end assembled to Endgames's one. The similarity of the events going on screen, the hero that is reborn from being worthy with the coming of a magic amulet in his darkest hour, the sacrifice that led to an emotional death, and then there is the time travel moment, and like Endgame and all the Hollywood movies since 2019 we expected Jim to return and make everything right, put everything where it were supposed to be. We desired to achieve this felling, have a sense of purpose, that this were the way, how it meant to be. And then, he returned and everything started a new, a new reality, everything we were used to is deleted and have a fresh new start. And there is why this wasn't a crap forced ending like is the first opinion when seeing the movie. This is a masterpiece! Guillermo Del Toro did something the cinematographic industry have never seen. Jim's speech about destiny recaptures all of his journey and brings also the duality of free will and destiny, what it really is, they aren't antonyms in the orchestra of life, they coexist in this correlated bond, that brings life it's value. "Some go their entire lives, living existences of quiet desperation, never learning the truth that what feels as though a burden pushing down upon our shoulders is actually a sense of purpose lifting us to greater heights", Jimbo decided to give Toby a chance, not to live as his helper, but now be a hero, what he wanted the most since the beginning, he wanted to have a role other than Jim's support. In this point we see the maturity and the huge character development of Jim, the insecure kid is now a man, he lived transformations, suffer, pain, got lost in the dark lands for so long, and then faced what being powerless is really about. He was mature enough to win agains his own ego, he knew he had learned everything he could from being a Trollhunter, and now he was giving this chance to his wingman, the one that died in his arms. And then we can see how much he loved him, when he saw Toby covered in wounds he took of the amulet and tried to save him, but it was to late, and then when he returned he made it possible that the amulet would be there for Toby. During "Rise of the Titans", Jim learned how to be a hero without daylight, and then he knew he could be one and also make his friend the hero, this time.
Seeing Toby commanding daylight its like having a life with a loved one, going back in time and seeing she lived the life you wanted for both of you for eternity with another person. This pain only show how much Trollhunters meant to us, and how much this ending was genial. It makes we feel in our flesh through a movie. There are lots of films that we watch, give a good note, but we don't feel anything with the movie, this is quite the opposite, we rate this film badly because we don't want to accept new possibilities, we are humans and the film brought one of the worst feelings ever: anguish. I don't want to feel it, but this film makes us feel anguish, and not because is a bad movie or bad written, it's quite the opposite, we hate the end, because it's such a unique and well written movie. Guillermo Del Toro innovated in the cinematographic industry doing something we would never expect.
Therefore, this film, in my opinion, its the best work he has ever made, maybe it's just not for its time. Seeing how underrated the movie is, made me remember of Jean Renoir in "La Règle du Jeu" (1939), a film that wasn't for its time, a masterpiece that in the start were underrated but 30 years later were considered to be one of the greatest films of all. I don't think we will ever hear back about the journey of the Trollhunters, now it's up to our mind guess and imagine what will happen. With the end we've learnt that sometimes life doesn't go as planned, but its okay. I just want to congratulate all the equip who did this marvelous work in "Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans".
Final Space (2018)
So I've started the show expecting just a passenger company, but with the time it became my family
What I expected to be just another animation, actually is a genius's work! A show with a unique and mesmerising plot and with an inteligente character development, in which you cry buckets of tears for characters and love them with all heart and soul. If you seek any entertainment in Final Space doubtlessly you'll find a family.
