It's Rare that I Laugh out Loud with a comedy.
19 January 2023
I loathe TV sitcoms, I can't stand slapstick and at most, a comedy film may squeeze a smile or two out of me. Only a handful of stand up comedians like Louis C. K., Kevin Hart, Sebastian Maniscalco, Dave Chapelle & the late George Carlin will send a drink through my nose.

We didn't expect much from Honeymoon in Vegas, but it's one of the few comedies that I can watch over and over and still laugh out loud at key moments. Nicolas Cage easily carries this romp, with his outbursts of frustration. As the movie progresses, and Cage's luck goes from bad to worse, his reactions will have you choking.

There are hilarious, noteworthy moments from the late Peter Boyle & Pat Morita, as well as the con artist, mafia-like boss played by James Caan. Also not forgetting Cage's soon to be wife, but lost in a bet to James Caan, Sarah Jessica Parker who actually looks her best.

There are some silly moment the film could have done without, but the side splitting moments more than make up for it. A very underrated film.

To Tell the Truth (I) (2016–2022)

My God this is awful!

First, you have Anthony Anderson, which means, lower the volume on your TV as this guy is all about screaming out his humor. Hate to say, he's headache inducing. The show can get kind of raunchy at times, and although it's all in fun, sometimes the players AND Anthony can be real insulting to the mystery guests. Just happen to have it on with one of the players being Alfonso what's-his-face from America's Funniest Home Videos. This basically doubles the cringe factor, with his boring forced humor. Maybe if I were 14, I'd appreciate this more. Sorry for being much older.

The Toy Box (2017)

As of things in our country aren't bad enough
19 November 2017
The toy inventions are interesting, but the kids are a whole new level of obnoxious. It's probably not their fault that half the comments are scripted with wisecracks that give the kids an adult-like edge. What's intended to probably get laughs winds up looking like a prime example of how not to bring up your kid.

The kids talk down to the adult participants, but it's all about ratings, and a bit of shock value goes a long way I guess. Oh, and to top it off, Toys R Us was showing their new ad campaign, featuring a little female "spokeskid" screaming out the top of her lungs.. "Playtime is over, when WE say it's over" which brings on a cheer from the kiddie crowd. Fits the show just perfectly!

Tales from the Crypt (1989–1996)

A bloody Mess

Maybe I was already too old, but I hated this series with a passion. Sure, the Cryptkeeper puppet was cool, but the episodes were BAD - really bad, and relied more on gore then scares. The one thing it had going for it: It was better then "Tales from the Darkside" but then again, staring at a sleeping dog was better that that.

My recommendation: See the original movie with Peter Cushing, Joan Collins and others - it blows the entire series away. In fact, if you're a fan of the movie, check out "Asylum" and "The House that Dripped Blood". All of these movies were made up small stories, and good old fashioned horror. Not all were winners, but even the worse was better then the series best.
