The Steve Wilkos Show (2007)
Steve Wilkos: Not for the stupid and whiny
The Steve Wilkos show brings on real people (as a sister of mine went on there three seasons ago) with their real problems. Those who are guests at the show (such as my sister's now ex boyfriend) will tell you show is fake in order to clear their name or any and all stupidity they show on the program. As also mentioned on the show by Dan the polygraph administrator, being tired and not eating DOESN'T affect your polygraph results. However, "what is seen cannot be unseen". If you don't want to be ridiculed, don't go on TV. The biggest argument is that "no one can possibly be that stupid". I'm here to tell you that they very well can and will be. My sister was on the show, as mentioned. I can't vouch for all the shows, but as a social worker, I can tell you that these issues are real. The biggest reason Steve receives at 10/10 for me is that he lays down the law for the very special guests he has on his show. Some people need tough love and a wake-up call; Steve provides that with a smile.
The St. Francisville Experiment (2000)
Ghost Investigations Gone Wrong
I like it because it can show what "Ghost Investigations" are about (up to the point where they were eating, and even that was a stretch) and what they AREN'T about. I think what set me up about this movie was that I thought from the first twenty or so minutes it was a documentary. (NOTE: I found this movie under "FearNET" on Comcast so I didn't have a chance to view the box) When I realized it wasn't (It was the cat found in the dresser area. That was too cheesy). I thought the live-action scenes were still pretty nifty. Often people look at horror movies and forget they're for entertainment and that the viewer should "immerse" themselves in a movie for it to be "realistic". Yes, the ending was a little cheesy but wow was I shocked when the ending began "crashing down" so to speak. So maybe this particular piece is actually aimed at Ghost Investigators, I don't know. It entertained me. It did its job. I have nothing to complain about.
