Nope (2022)
Tasty with a sour after taste
I liked the premises of this movie and the execution is good. I enjoy those movies with a mysterious monster. I think Peele is good at writing those weird stories, but this one is not as good as Get Out. The acting was also spot on, even though I thought Emerald was a bit too much for my liking. I really enjoyed the flashbacks to Steven Yun story, even though I felt the connection between the two timelines needed a bit more exposition. When the audience got eaten and we can see them inside the monster, I also wish there would be a bit more to that part, make it more scarier after all was kept so mysterious. Like I said in my title the ride was nice but at the end I felt like I want more to really make this viewing a blast.
Blonde (2022)
What a mess
I was looking for to this biopic as I've always enjoyed Marilyn Monroe and I think that "Some like it hot" is one of the best comedy to date. Sadly this movie was very difficult to get through. I'm not against an introspective point of view, but this one was written in a way that just had misery as a focal point. Despite being shot quite well, the poor story telling brings the whole feature down. I wish I would be able to write something better, but I can't. It was really difficult to get through it, actually quite sickening. I understand that some key like this feeling, and it may be the right one for a psycho thriller but I'm my opinion is the wrong feeling for a biopic.
Andor (2022)
Garbage
I'm very happy for people that are liking this show. After the first episode I thought, nah thanks! But then realised that there is more. So decided to watch the second one as well. To me this show is non-sensical JJ Abrams mystery box inspired script. The first episode should grab you with excitement. Sadly it didn't do it to me. After the meeting be of the second episode I turned off my tv. I'm not looking forward to watch this any longer. I enjoyed Rogue One, but this doesn't have the same feel. It looks better than Boba Fett for sure, but visuals are no longer enough to excuse a poor script with no passion nor hope for future episodes.
Australian Survivor: Hole in One (2022)
Good old Survivor
If you watched Survivor 41 and felt that woke politics where at the forefront of the show, come down under and enjoy a show where the game is still king or queen 😉 Jonathan also dropped the word "guys" from "Comon in, guys!" But not a big fuss about it and took me three episodes to notice it.
La dea fortuna (2019)
Beautiful storytelling
As the world goes into a total wokeness, this movie presents the topics that are at heart to Ferzan Ozpetek such as homosexuality, transgender, diversity and family in a very delicate and refined way. Ferzan stories are a splice of real life with a sprinkle of magic. I've always been a fan of those movies and this is no exception.
Survivor: One Thing Left to Do... Win (2021)
Blah skip blah
I wonder if the 10/10 reviews are written by people working on the show. I would be running out of that editing room very quick. This show has lost his wonderful shine to make place to wokeness. I'm a gay man and found myself disliking Ricard so much. In my opinion he didn't at all represent gays, actually I found him cringy. I am so disappointed and ended up skipping a lot and still found this so boring. I don't look forward to the next season, I really hope they can still fix it, but most likely due to the fact that season are shot back to back this is the trajectory of this show. What a shame!
Survivor: Do or Die (2021)
Skip
Skip, skip, skip, skip, yawn, skip, skip, skip, and still boring. I don't think any twists can save this season. What a shame that this show has turned into a add for wokeness. And when I thought survivor would entertain me for years to come, I was so wrong.
Survivor: Baby with a Machine Gun (2021)
One baby step in the right direction
Very quickly the episode goes into a challenge. The editing of the obstacle course was very choppy, felt like they lost some of the footage (?!?) and then the puzzle part finishes quickly. Not even a moment to feel any excitement. It was a nice to see the most unlikable player (Ricard), in my opinion, fairly share the pizza. The players back at camp are not very smart though, why would you announce that you would go out look for advantages? Why would you openly share your moves? I miss the sneaking away and trying not to get caught looking for idols and planning blindsides. Openly discuss all plans is surely not helping the show to be exciting, at least for me. They all know the moves that everybody wants to do, because you know we have to be honest and cannot lie to each other's. Perhaps it is just me, but I really don't get it, but still hoping for a turn in the show. The reward scene is also weird, in the past I felt joy seeing the starving outcasts enjoy food, but not today. Anyway, the immunity challenge starts. It feels like the beams are ticker than usual, but maybe because of my dislike for this season I'm seeing things differently. Sadly, the most unlikable player wins for the second time in a row, damn, Ricard will live another day. Finally some tactics come in play, my hopes go up. It seems that players are playing and previously sharing all the decisions/moves with everyone start to bite them in the proverbial ass. Discussions about blindsiding Shan and Liana are held. For a split second, players start to get paranoid. This is the Survivor I like. But 10 minutes out of 10 episodes are not enough to save a below par season. After some blah blah at the tribe council, in a move that we saw coming from a mile away, Shan is blindsided. End.
Survivor: Who's Who in the Zoo (2021)
Survivor 41 - Unfit Island
With the unfittest contestants I ever seen on Survivor, finally a challenge with some bite. In the past despite the competition there was support. Now I'm this fake "I love everyone"-season, the only sentence I could hear was "I hate his face!". After Xander wins, he can barely stand out, and no one approaches him to help out. In this PC world with this season reflecting the current mood, it stands out I'm how people can't connect anymore. It is sad to see competitiveness turn into cheap nastiness. The more I watch the least I connect with those people, and also the least I enjoy Jeff. He sadly sounds more and more fake, and perhaps it's time to retire the show. Like a lot of other comments, if you like Survivor try to watch the Australian version, where there is real respect, people are nice but still competitive, and the physical challenges are amazing!
Survivor: Betraydar (2021)
Oh dear!
Sitting on my couch as soon as I've seen the challenge layout I knew they would all fall down in seconds. The poor editor must have stretched that moment of suspense out of 4 minutes of footage. So lame. So long, Survivor :(
