Finally. The cycle completes...
31 August 2021
This was very good, and the end of a long cycle for Mortal Kombat fans.. This film is what "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" was supposed to be- the final battle between our heroes for all the realms, with slight variations to the story.

You'll even find a lot of easter eggs from the original "Mortal Kombat" from 1995 all thru this to further cement that point. We finally got that true "Mortal Kombat" sequel we wanted with this. Long time coming. Congrats to all involved for delivering a great film for fans..

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)

Strongest of new Star Trek shows. Does Fit Picard's story.
6 May 2020
Just finished the whole series, so let's get straight to the point... Show is leaps better than "Discovery" and is a fitting continuation of Star Trek: Nemesis timeline. If for no other reason, the show is a tribute to Picard and Data and the resolution of them is well worth the show.

Should also be noted just how awesome the previous TNG characters are in this. They are fun and again, makes the show well worth your time. This is a solid Star Trek show if for no other reason, gets back to the philosophical nature of humanity in the face of challenges or new ideas. The show also gets credit for keeping an open mind, unlike "Discovery" a show that already imagined all its major show moments, it just uses the show as a excuse to watch them play out, boringly. There's no upper debate on anything.

Yes the show works. There are moments the magic is back from TNG, and full resolutions to characters was well recieved. My only complaint was the show felt a little slow at times, but does pick up in future episodes.

Great short.... Magical and engaging...
17 January 2011
Quite enjoyed this, had the chance to see it on ShortsHD tonight and was quite taken with it...

Story revolves around a dishwasher working at an Italian restaurant, at first his life steers toward crime but then discovers a inner gift that he then must choose what best to aspire with, should it be a life of "service," "goodwill," or simply "profit." The film's impressive in that it sets up a subtext on life that such choices are not as easy, but can be arrived at with careful polish and mentors. Wonderful short and very well done to a "magical," feel. It would be a shame to have let if pass without praise....

Some thrills for fans, but sadly uneven...
27 February 2009
Having enjoyed the game as I a kid, I was excited to see Chun Li in a new feature adaptation. The cast showed signs of "mixing it up," with its choices and I was willing for the ride.

While the overall origin story is strong (the piano playing a very nice touch for depth) unfortunately many scenes come off as campy. On a scale, the strongest scenes are easily those between Kristin Kreuk and Robin Shou as Chun Li and Gen, and sadly the weakest being Michael Clark Duncan and Chris Klein's characters of Balrog and Nash.

That was the central problem for me here, there is an exciting action piece at work but is jumbled with various other plot lines and set pieces that really feel out of place. The feeling of the film comes off as uneven as was also the case with Director Andrzej Bartkowiak's previous works in CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE and DOOM. This film unfortunately continues Bartkowiak's pattern.

Nevertheless, Chun Li was carried well by Ms. Kreuk and the effort was well mounted.

RT.

Overall, very good sequel
7 February 2007
The film garnered few positive reviews, the overall community yielded no buzz, and the January release date was less than attractive.

Then the unthinkable happened...the movie turned out to be pretty good.

It really comes down to Kate Beckingsale's character who channels the torn warrior well. Unlike the first entry, the script actually simplified its structure and brought more push to the project. The monsters are just menacing enough to hold your attention while Beckingsale holds it sternly.

So far the main criticism is the "overwriting," the incorporation of the film's vast mythology into the present structure. I find that's what made the films unique. There's a lot of information here and it takes a little time after you've seen it for all of it to settle in. But when it does, the film sits well with you.

Overall much better than the original.
