Silent Running (1972)
space hippie gets pushed too far!
Predictably humans have somehow managed to destroy all the forests on earth and in a last ditch attempt to revive and return them to the surface of the planet a space trucking outfit is tasked with the execution of said plan until for unexplained reasons(most likely money) the call has been made to not only jettison them and return the ships to commercial duty but to also nuclear destruct them which is a bridge too far for poor beleaguered Bruce Dern (at his Bruce Derniest) the space arborist/organic hippy tasked with nurturing and maintaining the forests before their ordered destruction. Wackiness ensues. This is good stuff from the late twentieth century when film making was at its zenith, so roll one up and burn one down, then tuck in for this quasi-environmentalist parable.
TripTank (2014)
this is a 21st century impression of spike n mikes old twisted festivals except its not really funny and im not 13 anymore.
If youre over the age of 20 and looking for animation thats actually funny and not just attempting to be nonsensical or "shocking" to middle schooler's there are plenty of better options like Monkey Dust or better yet just watch some late 90s Adult Swim fare before they quit doing animation and started doing dumb live-action spoof shows and this terrible unfunny animation. Those of you entertained by drivel like Bojack Horseman will eat this right up and think its great, those of you with actual taste and viewing standards not so much, if you are going to bother i suggest consuming copious amounts of trendy chemical amusements before wading into this garbage pile of soundbites and poorly drawn animation. I got three whole episodes in before i just had to turn it off as i found it almost insulting just how unfunny the show is as a whole.
