Jane Got a Gun (2015)
A rare Western jewel
I was unpleasantly surprised by the bad reviews that Jane Got a Gun has received in the US by "experts". I'm a fan of Western movies and was delighted by the high quality of this film. The photography alone (superb) makes it worthwhile to watch. The dusty desert environment is awesome, the costumes magnificent and the acting s excellent. The story-line is original and Natalie Portman, as usual, extraordinary.
In my opinion, this film has captured the style of the best Clint Eastwood westerns. Granted it uses the well trodden revenge plot, but it does it cleverly and keeps the spectator in constant suspense.
Those daft commercial critics of the film, probably did not like both the story. But then, as usual, they were resorting to their pseudo sophisticated, near sighted inane criteria. I enjoyed the movie enormously from the beginning to the end. I certainly recommend this film to those Western film addicts like myself.
Samantha Who? (2007)
Christina Applegate at her best
I strongly recommend this delightfully funny show. The storyline is excellent, imaginative and original, and I was simply amazed that US television could produce such superb quality series. I have avidly watched all episodes (seasons 1 and 2), and amazed at the splendid acting by Christina Applegate). Over the past 20 years Christina has definitely matured into a delightful comedy actress, as well as flowered into a beautiful woman(she was always pretty but now she has turned fabulously gorgeous). I think ABC made a tragic mistake by not renewing these series (2009). In my opinion, ABC haven't produced a good show since. Watch this show you won't regret it!!
The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
a boring movie about a great comic book
As an avid reader of Tintin comics(in fact of all high quality comics), I was terribly disappointed by this movie. Nice graphics but a terribly boring story line. The film will bore, I believe, those of us over 55. There are so many other Tin Tin stories the producers could have used for the first Tin Tin film. But no!, they had to use this "three ship story line", with a captain Haddock as an incredibly foolish drunkard. The movie is much too long, boring and childish. Yet it is perhaps worth watching on a home video where you can stop it while you get a snack, or cut it in half to see the second half some other day, but certainly not worth sitting down in a movie theater for almost two grueling hours.Sorry Spielberg, I loved all your other films!!
