Kaante (2002)
Heavily adapted from Hollywood movie,"HEAT"
Excellent cast, wonderful scene transitions. However it seems to be a Bollywood version of Hollywood hit, "HEAT" Starring Al Pacino, Robert De Nero, Val Kilmer etc. Story has many loop holes (Especially the escape scenes after hitting the jackpot - everybody except Lucky Ali gets out clean without getting a single scratch!) but is compensated by excellent acting from Mahesh Manjrekar(Baali), Sanjay Dutt (Ajju) & Amithabh. Sunil, Kumar Gaurav & Lucky Ali also have done their parts well. One of the best endings I've seen in Hindi Movies. Watch it guys, it's has many funny moments from Mahesh Manjrekar.
Not Without My Daughter (1991)
Where was the Oscar for Sally Field's performance?
Where was the Oscar for Sally field's performance? Sally Field has always been one of my favorite actresses. I think this is the best work she has done to date. I couldn't believe it. It was not acting ; she was living with the role. She was awful! I don't care if the story was true or not. She simply made the movie worth watching. C'mon, I couldn't sleep the whole night after watching it.
Being the husband of a foreign woman myself, I try to put myself into Mahmoody's position but couldn't accept what he was trying to do with his wife & baby daughter. Whoever says that this movie is boring or worthless should think from the point of Mother-Daughter relationship. Forget about the religion crap. Hey I've nothing against Muslims or any other religions ok? I think people should think about their family. Husbands should be able to take the proper decision themselves. Shouldn't let the relatives or religious matters endanger the family life.
Well done Sally Field.... fantastic performance indeed! How I wish I could meet you... Here's my 10 out of 10 for this movie.
The Mechanic (1972)
What a movie!!!
This has gotta be the best of Charles Bronson. A tongue in cheek performance by master of action movies & an excellent ending. In my opinion this is the best of all Bronson movies.Jan-Michael Vincent too is good in this one. It's worth watching & paying for. Wonder when MGM is gonna release the DVD version.
Bridge of Dragons (1999)
Why in the world Dolph agreed to make this one??!!
It was a cold Sunday a'noon early this month. I had ran out of movies & when I came across this title I thought of giving it a shot as Dolph Lundgren is one of my faviourite action heroes. God! I couldn't even stand the first half of the movie. I wonder why in the world Dolph decided to act in this cheap one!!
If I had bought myself a box of popcorn instead of renting this movie, I would've been happier...
Well, I've said enough.... still wanna try it. Go ahead & regret yourselves.
The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
What a movie!
Until I watched this movie, I didn't even know the basic rules of Golf. I did read about the recent hits of Tiger Woods but in order to understand the game I had to buy a book & learned it. By all means this movie didn't disappoint me at all. I'm big fan of Will Smith & I wasn't that familiar with this guy Matt Damon. However I found Damon very much interesting. Smith on the other hand did the usual stuff. The photography is really stunning. Robert Redford once again proved that he's one of a kind when it comes to direction.
Go for it guys. You won't regret it. I would give this movie 8 out of 10
Der Name der Rose (1986)
A teriffic Movie by all means!
Those who have read the amazing novel of Umberto Eco's The name of the rose should watch this screen adaptation. In my opinion the director Jean-Jacques Annaud has done a very good job here. I read the novel a couple of years before but couldn't get a good copy of VHS to see the movie. I searched the net for DVD unsuccessfully & recently I managed to get a VHS from a store & I watched it at least half a dozen times since I bought it.
Sean Connery lived upto my expectations as William. Connery has done a wonderful job here & F. Murray Abraham too has given a wonderful performance as the wicked Bernardo Gui. The original musical score by James Horner is terrific! It's very addictive. Thanks to Amazon.de, I managed to get a copy of the movie soundtrack from them.
I thank IMDB.COM for helping me to get the full information about this movie especially thru this site I learned about AMAZON.COM, AMAZON.CO.UK & AMAZON.DE
Those people who loves to watch Sean Connery's movies should watch this one. It's worth paying money for.
The Big Red One (1980)
A chance to see the soft side of Great Lee Marvin
This movie is a definite chance to see the soft side of Great Lee Marvin He takes humour to a new level. His role of sergeant is surprisingly funny at times. When the movie started I thought it was going to be something like his "Dirty Dozen". But soon it prooved me wrong. At times he's serious & at times he's funnier than one could imagine.
One particular scene that me laugh was the one Marvin helping a lady to give birth with the help from one of his men. Neither Marvin nor the other guy could explain the lady how to say "Push" in French & he simply says, "Possey..Possey". It was really funny. Couldn't beleive that he could be so funny like that.
It's worth watching this movie. A must see classic for all Lee Marvin fans, I should say.
The Meanest Men in the West (1974)
WHAT A WASTE!!!!!
This has gotta be the worst movie of Charles Bronson & Lee marvin. I was truly disappointed. An absolute waste of time as well as money. I read the reviews by other viewers but still I bought it. I wanted to kill myself by the time I reach the first half of the movie. There are many better movies of Charles & Lee Marvin which are not on DVD & yet this movie is been released on DVD! It's really a surprise.
Pls. guys, do not waste your money & time on this one. It's better to break your head against a wall than watching this.
Coming to America (1988)
Check this out if you wanna laugh.....
There was a time I thought that Richard Pryor was the best comedian in Hollywood. Eddie Murphy proved me wrong with this movie called "Coming to America". This is his first movie I've seen & I was deeply impressed by his acting. I think Eddie is the best black comedian in this business now. This movie is something that will make you laugh from the beginning to end. Thanks to Eddie Murphy I would rate it 8 outta 10
Watch it guys...laugh your heads off... it's worth spending your money. Have fun...
Breakin' (1984)
Awesome performances!!!!!!
This is a terrific movie. What I mean to say is that it not only shows the techniques involved in break dancing but also shows how break dancers feel about it & about themselves. I think everyone who loves breakin' should watch this movie. I've seen this movie more than a dozen times. Although I can't spin around on my head, I still love it. It's truly one of a kind... A real entertaining one for all ages.
