A Tickle in the Heart (1996)
Good documentary. Should be in color
This was great for documenting these very interesting musical brothers. Two of the three died within four years after the release of the film, the end of an era.
Lots of unique music and wonderful stories of a musical group that was at one time the toast of their specific community in NYC. My only complaint is the movie is in black and white. I don't see the point. Color would have added so much more to the picture.
The music is historic, but they are not recreating the olden days. All the scenes are contemporary. So just film it in color, nothing lost!!!
It is certainly worth seeing for the musical value and the historical extra value.
Island of the Lost (1967)
Available on Netflix
As of May 2011, this film is available on Netflix. Great scenery.
Jose De Vega is also in this film. This was made six years after he played a Hawaiian buddy of Elvis in Blue Hawaii. But he was Filipino and Colombian. So he played various ethnic rolls on television and also in the movies.
Lots of beautiful tropical scenery. But I keep remembering this was filmed in the area of West Palm Beach, FL. I am not sure why I ordered this DVD. It could have been because of Ivan Tors. He was the producer of Flipper. So all of the underwater scenes and "trained seal" scenes might have a familiar look about them. Only this time, there is a seal instead of Flipper.
Luke Halpin from Flipper is also a son in this flick. Not much of a part, though.
Cycles South (1971)
Lite, travelogue (almost) from 1971
This movie is great for sitting back and enjoying the good ole days...of the early 1970s. Less regulation led to more fun with less restrictions. And these three guys did it the way many guys would want to do it, on motorcycles...going where they want to go, driving as far as they feel like it and enjoying the view along the way.
They head south and take time enjoying the view. There are lots of great times, riding through the countryside on bikes, diving for dinner on the beach, bull fighting, bike racing, etc.
I wish more people had thought ahead and documented trips like this. Today, you graduate high-school, then go to college, then immediately start work on your career...for forty years. These guys stopped along the way for a great vacation holiday and filmed the whole thing. Take some time off one evening and enjoy the view!!
Hazel: Stop Rockin' Our Reception (1965)
Wrong David Baily
This is a good episode considering technology at the time. The electrician uses a Geiger counter to find the problem with the TV interference. Sounds like Star Trek, ain't gonna work that way. Still, a good episode considering that many folks in the 1960s had radio interference issues on their TV sets, especially color sets.
But the David BAILEY listed here is incorrect. The David BAILEY this links to was born in 1933. The David BAILEY in this episode would be 22 years old and his voice still hasn't even changed yet!! I think this David BAILEY is the David ALLEN BAILEY that played in Andy Griffith Show and other shows as a boy. Here is his page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047226/ I wish someone associated with the program, or the David BAILEY in this episode would correct the information and link to the correct actor!
