Terrifier 2 (2022)
So Much Fun
I went in the theater with high expectations and they were fulfilled. Damien Leone really did this one for the fans. This movie outdid it's predecessor by a lot. I never had so much fun in a movie theater watching a movie. Once again David Thortons role as art the clown left me laughing multiple times and questioning my sanity. People are commenting on the runtime being too long, when in reality it did not feel long at all. Such an awesome movie. There are a lot of shocking, brutal kills and that's what we came to see. Art is the first horror icon to use firearms and he definitely uses them in this movie. When this comes out on disc I WILL be buying it. I recommend this movie if you like creepy, hilarious clowns and severely gory and graphic death scenes. Lauren LaVera is so beautiful throughout the whole film I was simping hard for Sienna. Terrifier 3, we're waiting for you! (Damien if you're reading this, take your time and make another awesome terrifier movie!)
Halloween Ends (2022)
Disappointed Halloween Superfan
I hate to say it but this movie was bad. It had nothing going for it. In the theaters I facepalmed 3 times. During the end I almost walked out. I have never felt so unhappy after finishing a Halloween movie and I've seen them all (yes all 13 of them). I almost cried is disappointed. This movie wasn't scary and there was very minimum kills and gore compared to the last two. Everything that could have went wrong... DID. I walked in the theater with low expectations and still was dissatisfied at the end of it. The movies a mess and there's too much to point out that was poor. As much as we all want this serious to die, I really hope this isn't the end of Micheal Myers because it is the worst possible end imaginable. After all the gnarly movies this is what it ended on... I even tried to find reasons to like it and there were none. If this really is the "end" my love for the franchise has dwindled to nothing.
Zero Day (2002)
Chilling
There were moments where I thought this was real. The acting was so realistic. There were a few things that could have been modified to make the movie more flashy but I like the gritty realistic feeling. This movie was a ride. Spoiler kind of, this is a school shooting movie. Mostly the documentation before the event. But it is not "in your face" with over the top psychotic scenes with gore. It's actually tame and gets the message across without showing much gore and violence.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Very similar to the first
This movie has frightening scenes. There are a couple very effective jumpscares.i love the overall anxiety inducing circumstances if not being able to make noise. It makes the movie feel like you're really a part of the horror.
Léon (1994)
One of the best movies ever
This movie is a beautiful depiction of an hitman and orphaned girl. This movie was made soo very perfectly with not much to it. Overall it's a simple movie but it's amazing. There are action scenes, sad scenes, and sometimes disturbing scenes. This is how a movie is properly done. I wish there was a sequel to this movie, I love it.
Victor Crowley (2017)
Another hatchet movie
This movie was just like the last three films. It just has more realistic gore. This one felt a bit more flashy and had less victor Crowley scenes. It had a more comedic tone, with a couple jump scares that weren't that good. Overall it was just another hatchet movie.
The Shining (1980)
Overly-long, confusing & boring mess
There is nothing to this movie. It's long and the boring scenes make it even longer. It has eerie moments but that's all it has. Everyone collectively loved this movie for some reason. The acting was great especially with jack but everything else to this movie was just poor.
Friday the 13th (1980)
Overall bad movie
I do not understand what everyone loves so much about this movie. It's not as great as the media has made it. There is not a single scary scene and the whole movie was boring. The hatchet franchise is more superior than this one and I didn't even like it that much. For its time it was cool, but it did not hold up for the next 5 years. Unlike Halloween and Texas Chainsaw which are still great to this day. The remake of this movie was better and that is still a 2 star movie. What a shame.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Appreciate this movie
This movie should be appreciated for what it is. Everyone is hating on this movie because it's basically a copy of the original with a much creepier Freddy. The acting was subpar but Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy is perfect. There is a less comedic tone than the first one. This one is darker and felt more horrific. If this movie came out in the place of the original, everyone would hate the Robert England Freddy. I'm not biased and I think this one was better than the original. Unpopular opinion but everyone is so close-minded and collectively agreed that this movie is "bad" when in reality it's a cool slasher movie.
Hatchet III (2013)
The final in the trilogy
They ended the trilogy properly. This movie once again continues right where the last one ended. Once again it felt like the exact same movie as the first two. Shocking scenes. Poorly executed gore but still unique. This one seemed to have even more dumb decisions by characters. However I still liked the ending and how they chose to end the trilogy. Unfortunately most of the parts that weren't people getting literally ripped in pieces were insufferable chatter of people yelling or bickering at each other. Every conversation was an argument of some sort. Danielle and Kane seriously carried this movie. Glad it ended because there was really nothing else to this franchise. It felt like a Jason vorhees and leatherface combination where the guy lives in a swamp and can't be killed. A sad backstory and a sad ending. I probably wouldn't watch it again.
Hatchet II (2010)
Predictable sequel
This movie was almost exactly like the first movie. It got into the action a bit quicker and has slightly less comedic scenes. I enjoy how it continues right where the last one ends. It helped make it feel connected like a true sequel. It had the same energy and pace. All the things I said about the first one applies to this one as well. Regarding the discolored blood and brief gore it still is in the movie. Both 1 and 2 could have been put together as a 3 hour long movie. I would watch it again.
Hatchet (2006)
Funny, horror slasher
The comedy was good. And the whole story behind victor crowly is unique and a bit sad. The gore is poorly done and doesn't look realistic which ruins the "horror" part of the movie and victors face is rarely seen. There are no scary scenes but there are shocking and brutal kills. The overall movie was a bit slow and felt more like a comedy movie than horror at most parts. The acting is questionable, once again takes away from the horror factor. I personally would watch the movie again.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
The OG
I always loved Toby hoopers original. I never liked it's really slow start and minimal gore but this movie set the bar for all the bad sequel's. That legendary jumpscare in the woods, hammer to the head, original sawyer family all made this film so golden. Never rusts on the shelf and still holds up.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
It was not horrible
Every time a TCM movie comes out that isn't the original most people just come to collectively agree that "it's terrible". This is only true because the first one set the bar pretty high, and was legendary for its time. But people need to appreciate for what this movie does well. The movie might not be scary, but there are horrific and gross scenes. Completely besides the fact this movie also has the most kills. When it comes to cinematography this movie had some really cool shots. It had a poor story and some cringy scenes but the action gets started and it's fun. This is also the shortest one so this movie isn't really boring. The soundtrack was alright, they all sounded the same but it was still terrifying. Out of all the leatherfaces this one is the most sad looking and alone, which makes it unique from the other ones. It doesn't have the vibe as a TCM movie but it did do one thing perfectly and it's the gore. No one can argue with that. Everyone needs to stop collectively hating on movies and believe their own opinion.
Slender Man (2018)
Disappointing
Very big opportunity that was poorly done executed. The poor acting and storyline killed it for me. The only cool part of the movie was the soundtrack so props to whoever made it. I love Slender Man but this movie ruined his reputation. Javier is an awesome actor too, yet there was little to no screen time for him during the movie. There were no scary parts at all and certain scenes were very cringy. It felt more like a teen drama with a few shocking scenes.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Bloody Mess
This movie is all over the place but the one thing is does very well is the gore. The score is beautiful and the kills are great. But they focused way to much on the previous events instead of continuing micheals story. Basically the whole movie is just a recap of everything that's happened with a lot of brutal Micheal kills. There is no real story or true main character (other than the strode family) which sort of makes the movie less emotional. But I appreciate this movie for what it does greatly. I hope Halloween Ends is better though, because as much as I love Micheal Myers and the Halloween series this one was disappointing. It's fast paced and brutal. But characters in the movie were very dumb. The score is beautiful though.
