WALL·E (2008)
7/10

So yeah, this is a pretty good movie. It's something that the everyone in the family can enjoy; and is well worth the 9 bucks I paid to see it.

However......

this movie probably shouldn't be in the top 250, let alone top 25. It's not even Pixar's best. Both of the two Toy Stories, AND Finding Nemo are better movies! They may not surpass WALL-E in animation, but they are better, and more original stories. Even the animation doesn't leave me in awe as it does so many others on IMDb apparently. It is repetitive, and lacks style in a way. An example would be "scared" WALL-E (even if you haven't seen the movie, you've seen it in previews). He just shakes! That would be OK, except he does it 3 or 4 times in the movie! Do something different! To add to that, both the story and music is basically stolen. 2001: a space odyssey, star trek, star wars; all stolen from.

You Need to See this Movie
19 June 2008
Wow! This is one heck of a movie! The 8.3 (or whatever #) rating is absolutely too low as the movie should be in the top 25 movies of all time! This is Miyazaki's best work, narrowly defeating Spirited Away, and was the biggest hit in Japan until the Titanic (for reasons unknown to me). The animations is superb, the soundtrack is amazing, and the story is one you will remember forever. If you are familiar with Miyazaki's work, the film is packed with loads of symbolism, and an array of "wierd" stuff as usual. If you have not seen Princess Mononoke, make it the next movie you buy or rent; I promise you won't be disappointed. Also, watch the movie in Japanese, the English translation just doesn't quite do the film justice.

Incridebly Powerful Film
6 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I first watch American History X in my 10th grade English class. Not only is it a film that inspired me to become a movie "nerd", it is a story that has helped shape portions of my attitude towards life. The message of "Hate is Baggage," is something that I think about quite often, and for me, is as a result of watching this movie. The message is legitimized by Derek's story, and the insight the movie provides into the maturity of his psyche. It's simply amazing how the movie show's how easy it is to let little thoughts of hatred you're your brain, and how those thoughts can grow into actions with the help of influential people.

"Is anything you've done, made your life better?" is a powerful question that the movie asks not just Derek, but everyone watching as well. Only a film as good as American History X could pull this question off. The movie creates a character that the audience puts so much emotional baggage into, that they (or at least me) are surprised that their answer is "no." In a way, the movie almost makes you believe that Derek's racism is justified, and then smack's you in the face by making you realize how wrong you are.

On top of the incredible story, the movie is technically superb. The black and white flashbacks make watching the story easy for anyone. Edward Norton's performance is one that ranks with the best of all time, and the music works well with the emotional response of the audience. 10 out of 10!

One of the best movies of all time!
3 March 2008
I don't seem to understand how this movie gets a 7.3 rating! I am a big time movie lover and "Gangs of New York" definitely represent part of my top ten movies of all time. Not only is the story, directing, and acting amazing; it is a fairly accurate representation of New York during that time period! Mostly everything about this movie is amazing (the romantic portions of the movie, blah). Daniel Day Lewis gives, I think, the greatest performance of all time as Bill and Leo shows he's a heck of an actor as well. Then you also have to remember that Brendan Gleeson and Cameron Diaz are phenomenal as well. All in all, 10 out of 10, one of the greatest movies of all time. Forget about the 7.3 rating.
