Shutter Island (2010)
An instant Classic!
First off let me say any review I could ever possibly write could not do this film justice, so go watch it and you will find out what a masterpiece it is.
I went into Shutter Island expecting a great movie, I mean can you really go wrong with Scorsese and Dicaprio, well I walked out of there knowing I had seen more than a movie, I saw a piece of art one that will stay with me forever.
I won't get into the details of the story as I wouldn't want to spoil anything for you, but as the movie opens with a heavy fog you know you are in for a hell of a ride. Leonardo Dicaprio once again proves to us that he is one of the finest actors working today, and there is not a scene of bad acting from anyone in the movie, Ben Kingsley is excellent as the foreboding and sinister Director of the Institute and Max von Sydow is great as the German Doctor, but the real spotlight is on Leo Dicaprio and Mark Ruffalo, and they both pull off their performances with such integrity and ferocity.
When the Oscars role around next year, I would bet a lot of money this movie will have more than one nomination to its name.
A note to sensitive viewers and woman, there are some very touchy subjects and scenes, which could disturb a lot of people, so watch at your own risk.
10/10 is my rating for this movie, and it has easily fallen into my top ten movie list.
Sympathy for Delicious (2010)
Just caught a screening at Sundance
Wow, I was blown away watching the directorial debut by Mark Ruffalo, written by and starring Christopher Thornton, in a role that will definitely land him some Oscar recognition. I walked into the movie not really knowing what to expect, but was immediately thrown into a dramatic and intense depiction of the life of a young man who is both disabled and disgruntled at life, and the many trials and tests he goes through on the road down to hell and then redemption.
Mark Ruffalo also acts as a priest who tries to help Thornton (Delicious) but can only do so much. The movie steers you in a direction you would never guess, and leaves you breathless and fully satisfied.
Juliette Lewis, Orlando Bloom, and Laura Linney are some of the supporting cast who all do well in their respective roles, but Thornton is the one who really takes the cake, and Mark Ruffalo directs himself to perfection.
I can not recommend this movie enough, I don't know when or if ever it will get a cinematic release, but keep your eye on this title and make sure not to miss it when it does come out.
Dexter (2006)
A dirty little pleasure...
WOW!! This show really is something, its is compelling, it is thrilling, it is darkly humorous, and to top it all off it is R-Rated. Dexter is a show I never thought would have been made because in essence it is everything I have ever wanted to see in a TV show, down to the last drop of blood. All of the main characters are more than multi-dimensional and you feel for every last one of them.
Dexter is in a whole league of his own, Michael C. Hall a relative nobody has proved himself to be one of the best lead actors working in television right now.
I am not going to say much more to promote this series but trust me just watch the first episode and you will be hooked.
I love this show and my hearts desire is that is go's on forever and never ends, I am devoted to this show and I love it with all my heart.
Note to sensitive viewers: This is probably the most graphic show to ever hit television so be warned, there is language and nudity as well.
Grindhouse (2007)
So much dirty fun.......
I went the other day on my birthday to catch Grindhouse And I can tell you it was the best Birthday Present I was surprised how over the top PT was but really loved every minute of it(quite contrary to what my girlfriend thought) I have always been a fan of Rodriguez but have never seen him this good The one liners and cool action really steal the day.
Note: The fake trailers are Totally cool and reminiscent of each of the brilliant directors who direct them!
DP on the other hand my girlfriend loved being mostly about girlpower I also thoroughly enjoyed it being how I am a massive fan of everything Tarantino has ever done I thought the dialogue was kick ass And those car chases WOW!!!!
Overall I rate Grindhouse 10/10 A real treat and Experience
