Earth's Final Hours (2011 TV Movie)

Absolutely awful...
31 December 2011
I passed over watching this movie for a while because the plot seemed a bit ridiculous. Today I saw I looked it up on here and it gave a rating of 7.8 stars. I thought, "hey, maybe it's better than it seems." Guess what...nope. I could only watch the first 20 minutes before I had to shut it off. The acting and dialogue are appalling. The script is a mess. I cannot believe anyway wasted money making this. I would suggest you don't bother. Apparently I did't type enough, so I suppose I'll go on to say that there didn't seem to be much of a hook to the story. I was not drawn in at all. I wish I could say there was a saving grace, but there wasn't one. It's just a jumbled mess, from the script to the acting to CGI to the character development...and so on. I love sci-fi (not SyFy). BTW, whomever changed the name to SyFy should be smacked. Anyway, have a good day.

Did anyone else notice...

I have not read the books, which is most likely a good thing. The film was OK at best. I saw it at the theater with my mom. First thing I noticed was the horrible, boring dialogue. This is one of those movies you watch late at night on Mystery Science Theater because the comments that can be made is more entertaining. Second, the main character seems too detached from his character which didn't make it even slightly believable. The writers should be taken to the back lot and shot. I could do better writing the entire script in one night. Finally, I noticed something rather disturbing. The basic story has a strong resemblance to Star Wars. Even scarier was that my mom also noticed this. I really hope this is nothing like the book. This was a movie that had great potential that ended up as just a huge disappointment.

I haven't seen this one yet, but...

I haven't seen this film yet. Primarily because I wasn't sure it was going to be worth bothering with since it has nothing to do worth the original and has a predictable stretch of a script. If I were to have written a sequel, pardon the follow-the-crowd, I would have made it a prequel. It simply makes more since. There are numerous possibilities. You could have gone with the crazy father from the first one who used photos he took to go back. Also, you could have used the other children who were still-borns which would suggest they did the same as he did in the Director's cut. As I said, lots of options. Why do screenwriters create a sequel that is a similar story without any solid link to the first? Just for the fun of it, why don't they do it anyway? Just make a couple of prequels with semi-known actors and a decent script, and then, maybe people will actually want to bother. Thanks.
