Jane Eyre (1983)
idea, quotes not on site
2 April 2007
I got my dissertation idea from this adaptation of "Jane Eyre." One of the lines happened to strike me just right, I read the novel for confirmation, and later wrote my dissertation on the subject as it appears in all of Charlotte Brontes novels (ok, pretend there's an umlat over the e in Bronte; I know do how to spell it). I did not tell my profs where I got my diss idea though! :)

Why aren't quotes on this site? There are many quotable lines, particularly from the scenes that Jane and Rochester have together. It's always interesting and fun to read quotes from the show on the site. And sometimes it's been "Oh, that's what the character said! I couldn't understand 'em when I was watching the show!"

'82 barretts of wimpole street
26 March 2007
This version of "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" is the most romantic show I've ever seen--it even beats out the '83 version of "Jane Eyre" which is marvelous. I too wish "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" would be put on video or DVD or both; it's too good to not be made available. I saw it years ago on A & E. I don't remember if it was part of A & E's "Family Classics" series, though--it might have just been broadcast and not part of a series. I also saw the '83 version of "Jane Eyre" on A & E. It would be great if A & E or some other station could broadcast "The Barretts of Wimpole Street." Perhaps PBS, although they usually broadcast shows that have been made recently.
