Great fun, easy watching
5 November 2022
A really fun, enjoyable mystery with great characters and based around a fascinating true story. Loved the new characters and all the old favourites are there. Had some good laugh out loud moments and some lovely costumes and settings that made it a delight to watch.

It stayed true to the previous film and built on top of this in a very believable, consistent way, keeping the same feel for all the characters. I would love to see more of this series and this film left lovely opportunities for this but also wrapped up some threads too making it a very satisfying storyline.

The perfect film for a nice easy watch that's still exciting and keeps you guessing. A wonderful comfort film for when you just want to be entertained.

Very enjoyable adaptation close to the book
16 April 2022
I have always loved Why Didn't They Ask Evans and I loved that this adaptation stuck more closely to the book. Yes, there were some changes but the heart was there.

Bobby and Frankie have held a place in my literary heart for years and they lived up to my expectations and hopes.

Is the mystery a bit confusing? Yes, it also was confusing in the book but it's a great ride, good fun and the characters, costumes and scenery make it a thoroughly enjoyable watch.

On a slightly related note, loved seeing the golf course and castle at Three Cliffs!!

Lovely, light-hearted entertainment, full of joy and fun

If you're a fan of the original series I can see how this might not be your bag, but if you're looking for fun, entertaining sleuthing with lovely characters and some pretty enviable costumes then I can highly recommend this.

I watched this show with my Mum and we both loved the show, from the characters down to the music and storylines.

Sometimes you just want a show to entertain you and this does it for me, it's a little happy place that you can disappear in for a bit and come away with a smile and some great songs stuck in your head!

The storylines are enjoyable and although they're not super complicated I have been surprised by the who done it on a number of occasions which is always a bonus in a murder mystery show. I admit the first episode has a few teething difficulties in establishing the storyline but this didn't really impact on my enjoyment at all and hey, I'm not watching this for gritty realism, a girl breaking into a building and accidentally falling through the ceiling is fine with me.

I preferred the episode length of the second season, just because this is more manageable but I originally watched the first season with each episode broken in half (so there were eight overall) and this worked well. There are some over arching storylines between episodes but these are well balanced and you don't find yourself having to fast forward over irrelevant bits of backstory or side character arc in order to get back to the sleuthing.
