Murdoch Mysteries (2008)

I've watched every single episode of this series. It would get 9-10 stars if the last few seasons were as good as the first few, but they're not. The latest episodes have become parodies: the idea that a famous historical figure is part of the plot has turned into an exaggerated farce. Most of the characters, even Murdoch himself, are now two-dimensional. They have one or two character traits that dictate their behavior. Murdoch is mechanical and emotionless, Julia is stiff in her perpetual pregnancy. George was developing nicely, but now he seems to be out. The only bright spot is Watts with his wacky facial expressions and physicality.
The Gentlemen (2019)
This is brilliant ...
I won't say a word about plot other than it's perfect. It's the cast!!! In order of my highest acclaim, it would be Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, Matthew McCanoughey and Hugh Grant (doing a great job as an idiot.) These guys together could get an Academy Award for voice acting a Muppets movie.
The Knick (2014)
Blood and Guts ... literally
I guess Clive Owen should be credited for his lunatic performance --- at least, I hope it was a performance. I'm no prude or weak stomached (i.e., binge watching The Walking Dead proves that,) but the violence, gore and manic behavior is just gratuitous. Let me rethink that --- in fact, without the violence, gore and manic behavior there'd be nothing else.
Golden Boy (2013)
I know why you're here ...
You're here to watch one of the sexiest men alive --- Theo James. Even in the scenes where he's in the background, he's still captivating. He gets most of the 2 stars in the rating (his partner deserves part of a star for his acting.) Unfortunately, most of the remaining stars would have been filled in had this series gone to Season 2. Obviously, even the writers thought they'd get that chance since they left so many unresolved plotlines at the end of this single season. In retrospect, it was not worth watching to be so badly unfulfilled.
