Assassin's Creed: Origins (2017)
Great Reboot to the franchise
This game was such a pleasure to play. Origins was the reboot the tired franchise needed and I think it worked out well for the people at Ubisoft. It had great game play and I think that the open world was MASSIVE and was much bigger than its predecessors. The main protagonist Bayek was a real likable character, by far the best in the series in my opinion. The game had some glitches but nothing to major. Just like Odyssey, there were boss fights so challenging, that I wanted to throw my controller at my monitor, but once you do those its back to the soothing game play from before, and the boss fights are strategically placed in the 30+ hour story so its not like your fighting a hard boss every mission. Overall the game has great graphics, story, combat, human interaction, animals, and is just a great game. Better than Odyssey for sure. Also the Egypt sort of setting really worked for me and was such a great setting. I recommend Assassin's Creed Origins to people who are returning to the franchise or who just want a fun game to play because let me tell you, that's exactly what you'll get.
Assassin's Creed: Unity (2014)
Another actual GOOD Assassin'c Creed game (Still has a few flaws though.)
Alright let me start with, this is a good game. People say it has glitches but I can assure you that most of them have been patched in updates. Anyways, this game is a genuine good Assassin's Creed game that makes you feel like an actual Assassin. The game play with swords and guns and stuff is great, and feels amazing. The combat is top tier with no frame lags at all on my console (series x). The biggest flaw in my opinion though, is our main protagonist because MY GOD is he an idiot. Our main character is a guy named Arno, who wants to like expose the true powers of the French Revolution or something and it is not the most interesting sort of story, and Arno does not make it any better. I just feel like he has no emotion whatsoever and he feels like he's an AI. He does have some character depth though, I did feel sympathy for him when his dad died early on but he just isn't a character than you feel for like Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption II. But the best part of the game other than the combat and graphics, is this is the main multiplayer Assassin's Creed game. You can play co op with your friends via playstation plus or xbox live gold is a ground breaker for Assassin's Creed and it's such a shame they didn't add multiplayer to all the other games. Overall I recommend Assassin's Creed Unity if you wanna try one of the Assassin's Creed games out or if your a die hard fan or if you liked black flag.
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (2018)
Great game play and combat, weak story and characters
Okay let me start this review with it is AMAZING. I, personally chose Alexios for my first play through but playing it for a second time I chose what I think is the better option, Kassandra. So far I've played about 20 hours with Kassandra and 150 with Alexios and this game is pure gold. The game play was flowed with action, (I like to use the bows) whether your using a sword, ax, or bow its so much fun. There are no glitches I've come across so far but I must say that in the beginning, I hated the game. I picked it up at gamestop and said hey lets give it a go but It just didn't seem that great. But I thought this game has good reviews so lets play some more. That was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. Personally, I don't enjoy Assassin's Creed games to much. I played Origins, It blew me a way so I knew I HAD to try Odyssey out, I also played Unity which I thought was great and its graphics were way ahead for a 2014 game, but this game felt different. It didn't feel like an Assassin's Creed game, which maybe was the reason I liked it so much and that's the reason why maybe some don't like it as much. It still focuses on game play which is good, but I feel it has a weak story. There good characters and all, but It seems that the side characters have more depth and the developers put more thought into them like Myrrine, than the main protagonist themselves. For the full experience I think you should chose Kassandra because of the dialogue and just overall more natural character, but if you chose Alexios, be my guest because he's just as good. Overall Odyssey is great game with great graphics and content, but has a weak story and characters that just ruin the experience.
Red Dead Redemption II (2018)
THE BEST VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME!!! (!SPOILERS!)
Red Dead Redemption II is a western action game that EXCELS at everything it provides whether it's the graphics so realistic with lifelike detail, or the combat with guns that grow RUST on them if you don't clean them and will BREAK! The amount of realism brought into a video game is insane and from the very start in the snow in chapter 1, to the end of epilogue 2 where Dutch shoots Micah, its all so realistic and real! The game physics have really improved since the first game, lighting, Arthur also doesn't feel as stiff as John did in the first game and running seems so natural and lifelike. The dialogue and character development is so great with a rich story full of wonderful characters and perfected voice acting. The game also don't worry, has combat. There are so many guns to use and its so fun to shoot enemies with them. There put to best use though with the game's improved dead eye system that is so much more controlled than the first one. Also, Rockstar does what most video games can't in their games, connect with the main protagonist. The 40+ hour long story makes you really makes you feel for Arthur and makes you really sad when he dies at the end of chapter 6. Lets be real, most of the newer games focus more on game play that you don't even connect with the main character. For example, Call Of Duty. This is an amazing example of combat over character. In 2019 modern warfare, you don't connect with Alex and I know its not the point of the game for characters but Red Dead knows how to balance those two elements perfectly and when combined it makes a perfect game. Overall, Red Dead Redemption II is a great game with great soundtrack, characters, and graphics and is a great game to try out, even if you may not like the western setting.
