Nemesis (2021)
A welcome slap in the face
The gangster genre has always suffered from woke reviewers critiquing a film's politics rather than what's on the screen. If you like your gangster movies raw without the director holding back for fear of cancel culture, this is the film for you.
Thoroughly enjoyable invasion movie with plenty to please any would-be East End geezer!
Straight Into Darkness (2004)
Superb
This is a superbly haunting film that had me totally mesmerized right from the opening shot. Simply put, I love this movie. The directing is excellent - consistent, appropriate and captivating. Add to that the great photography (lots of superb shots - which again will be thanks to the director) and the spellbinding score and you get a film that has to be seen. I saw this film last night at the Fearless Tales Genre Fest in San Francisco and it blew me away. Now I just want to see it again. What I can't understand is why I've not heard about this film before - it must be the World's best kept secret! I thought the story was original and well cast - all give great performances: even the kids who totally look right, act right and are not stage school brats (and that's got to be credit-worthy!) - or maybe they are, I don't know, but they're great on screen and just add to the tension and intrigue. I'll Bury You Tomorrow (2002)
Delightful!
Don't be put off by the title or the poster artwork - this is no ordinary horror. Sure, if you're a horror-head it delivers in bloody gory bucket loads - but if you like intriguing films with an ensemble cast that keep you glued to the screen then this is for you too. It's quite different from the usual low-budget horror flick in that you care about the characters and so when they die - and oh...they die... every last one of them! :) ... there's a much bigger rush. If you like the tales-of-the-unexpected type horror film then this film needs to be in your collection!.. 8/10 Rob
Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun (2005)
Great - go see it!
Saw this at the Fearless Tales Genre Fest in San Francisco and it went down a storm! Really enjoyed this movie and recommend that everyone go see it. The acting is great, the costumes are great, the cinematography is great and the sound design absolutlely spot-on! This is a very enjoyable and remarkable film - I look forward to seeing in again... 9/10 Rob
Blood Gnome (2004)
Loved every minute
I don't understand why the guys above dislike the movie so much. I found it a really fun, entertaining movie and much better than, say, Beyond Reanimator. I watched the film with a group of friends and when the lead kills off the gnomes we cheered out loud!! It really had us in its grip - we all thought it built to the climax quite nicely. This is a fun fun movie and a little saucy too :)... 9/10 Rob
