When Calls the Heart: The Kiss (2021)
Was truly a roller coaster of a season
I really enjoyed the season, but the review would be based on what team you supported, I was never on any team, just wanted good story telling. This season brought a lot of that, but there was a few holes in some of the stories, but they seem to remain true to the characters. It was a roller coaster as you didn't know who she was going to choose but you could tell where she was leaning due to all the clues, the show runner was giving us, there was also a lot of suspense, but if you believe in good romance and how it should end, this was a great show to follower. If you were on the other side, the result would not be pleasing as the Mountie wasn't given much of a personality or qualities that were equal with the first Mountie, who was virtually the perfect Mounty and hero. The second one, besides having a daughter was never in my opinion regarded as being good enough and beng seen as a Jack substitute, which some would see as a second rate Mountie. Elizabeth also acted a bit weird and wasn't the confident and strong women we were use to. However, given those flaws this season was told beautifully. Excellent work.
When Calls the Heart: Starry Nights (2023)
One of the worst finales I've seen in a while!
What happen to this show? This whole season has been wanting for any real storylines. Who drags a grief striken Elizabeth for the whole season, for her to then makes a clear decision that her heart is no longer with Lucas but with Nathan? That must be the first time in WCTH history that E hasn't dragged her feelings about a man including Jack that quickly. This is no longer the sweet, wise, loving and compassionate Elizabeth. This is now a cold, calculated, two-faced, unloving, meddling and gossip girl Elizabeth.
Unfortunately, they made her unlikeable that she is now seen as a tarty widow that lures in red surge Mounties. If you like that sort of thing, then of course you will enjoy it. I wanted Nathan to have a good storyline, but to regress back to this triangle storyline is old and tiring. Those that want to move on are again stuck in a twilight zone and not progressing these characters. Not good and pathetic if you ask me.
Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story (2000)
A wonderful continuation of their story
Although, this was quite a different take from the books, it was still a beautiful love story and continuation of the journey Anne and Gilbert took as a newly married couple. Jack Garrisom was a good distraction for Anne, easy on the eyes! But a free spirit and dear devil at heart. Im not sure, he would of been right for Anne, as he didn't seem that supportive of Anne's writing, more the opportunist, self absorbed and focus on his own ambition. He said he was in love with Anne, but it always amazed me how these men fell in love with her so quickly? It took Gilbert years to confess his love to Anne, although he did admit he was in love with her since they met as kids. I'm glad Anne stayed faithful to him after years of rejection. Glad she came to her senses and ended up together and a happy ever after ending! Really enjoyed it!
When Calls the Heart: Rock, A Bye, Baby (2022)
Rock, A Bye, Baby was spectacular!!
This episode has to be one of my favourite finales, it was mind blowing and magnificent!! Can't ask for anything better than to wrap up the season with three suspenseful events being wrapped up in such a satisfying and rewarding way! Yet it left the door open to so many more storylines for future seasons. Just loved it and words don't do it justice you just have to watch it!!
When Calls the Heart: Smoke on the Water (2022)
More fire than smoke on the water!
Another brillant yet moving episode! Can't believe it's the second to last episode for the season. Where there is heat you will find fire and that's where you see this episode go. More heat stirring our characters than the calmness of still waters. What is this stomach bug affecting Rosemary and is it more than a bug? Is there some past tension between Minnie's father and Joseph? What did that letter from Minnie's father have to say to Joseph? And Faith, is she missing Carson or is there more going on with Nathan? Our main love interests finally say what we have wanted them to say to each other and yet Lucas is feeling restless and uncertain, what did his letter have to say to Elizabeth? Is there the threat and potential for the mine to be reopened. So much suspense and drama but then we have to wait for the next episode.
When Calls the Heart: Never Say Never (2022)
Difficult to say never say never?
A gripping episode, so much happening, especially with all our beloved characters. Things that you would think would not happen with the coal mine is potentially going to happen. Gowen is placed in a precarious position again, felt so sorry for him. Lucas having to deal with so much with his businesses, its a good thing he has Elizabeth and Little Jack's support. Then some exciting news for our Rosemary, Fiona still trying to find her way in business and having to deal with male detractors, but I'm sure she will eventually get there. Such a good and jam packed episode.
When Calls the Heart: Recent Memory (2022)
Wonderful Memories
This is what this show brings, everytime I watch it! They become new and wonderful memories!! The storyline is impeccable and there is always something uplifting and heartwarming you can take away once you watch this show! Episode 9 was another brillant show, so .much is going on. Walden is back causing trouble for Lucas, Minnie and Angel have gone out of town, so Joseph and Cooper are spending time bonding. And what's the go with Hickham no longer wanting to be Mayor? I'm loving the Lucabeth scenes, they are such a family unit, want them to be married or at least engaged by the end of the season.
A Tail of Love (2022)
A nice tale
It was a nice storyline and who doesn't like seeing dogs and the support for a dog rescue centre. Such a good combination. The actors had good chemistry and the scenery was magical, who doesn't like picnics near the water, it was picture perfect and romantic. However, the only thing that was disappointing for me was the lack of more dog interactions with there owners, would of loved to see that bond forming between the new owner and dog. It just seemed rushed and would of loved to see more screen time with the dog's. But the feel good and happy endings are typical of Hallmark. No surprise there.
When Calls the Heart: Hope Valley Days: Part 2 (2022)
Wonderful Hope Valley Days
This show just gets better and better! I'm so in awe of the great writing, actors, cast and crew that are involved in this fabulous show. Just love it. This episode had so much happening, but we did get a resolution to Mei Suos storyline. I loved how Nathan stuck by her and went out of his way to help her, she was so thankful to him for that. I liked that Lee finally wrote something nice about Hickham, he was finally getting over his bitterness of losing the Mayoral to him. Seems like it relates to some of the fans of this show that still holds a grudge and bitterness. I enjoyed Lucas and Elizabeth interactions and how Lucas can keep a secret and not tell Elizabeth about what Nathan told him. I guess Elizabeth just couldn't resist not kissing him. It was hilarious! I loved all the photos taken of all our beloved characters, it's a testament to the show and great talent on it.
When Calls the Heart: Hope Valley Days: Part 1 (2022)
Another great episode!
This show always brings the goods. I haven't ever been bored or disillusioned with it. The only criticism I have is that the show is not long enough. Instead of 45min. It should be 60min, not including ads. There are so many good storylines that it's difficult to include all of the nuances that the writers may have wanted to include, you do end up with shorter stories, but that's not always a bad thing? This show is far from boring you do need to use some brain power to connect with some of the story line. They don't spoon feed you as they did in the good old days with the plot lines, some don't like this type of story telling, but each to their own. I personally like the new and enjoy that they are evolving characters and giving us good connected plotlines.
When Calls the Heart: Past, Present, Future (2022)
Great connections to what is to come
The excitement continues in hope valley, with some angst and uncertainty in some relationships like Mei and Nathan. I do like that Nathan is opening up to her, but I'm not sure whether this is just friendship of something more. I'm not yet convinced it's anything more than friendship but we will see? And Fiona? Whoa what a mess? I think some better communication all-round may have prevented this bad deal from going through? I'm interested to see how they get out of it. I really enjoyed this episode so much happening and so many stories to tell. Can't wait for the next episode.
The Sweetest Heart (2018)
Too sickly sweet for my liking
A friend had suggested this movie to me as they said it reminded them of "13 going on to 30"with Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately this movie fell flat and didn't come close. It was too sickly sweet for me. The cupcake shop owner was a strong independent woman, but she became like a whinning demanding mother figure rather than a supportive girlfriend. I think she would of been more convincing as the cardiologist and him being the cupcake shop owner. Didn't feel it was highly disappointing.
When Calls the Heart: Journey into the Light (2022)
There is so much light to this show!
I think this show continues to amaze, uplift and makes you assess the condition of your own heart towards others. I just find in the story telling, they always produce great life lessons that we can always apply to our own lives and make this world a better place. It always starts with our own heart. Besides heaven, hope valley comes close to a community I would choose to live in with so many supportive and caring town folk. The town is buzzing with change and two of the beloved characters return after spending some time away from Hope Valley.
Snowkissed (2021)
Beautiful scenery and story line
I wasn't really expecting much from this movie, but I was wonderfully surprised by the beautiful scenery, the slap stick comedy, the interesting storyline and intriguing characters in the movie. Having two friends set up a tourist business is something adventurous people would want to do, so having two guys with different personalities was hilarious but it worked well. Then with the two friends who came for work to a sleepy town is typical hallmark so no surprise there. I enjoyed the banter and the connection the actors had with each other it was beautiful against the backdrop. The storyline was funny yet heart warming.
Feeling Butterflies (2022)
Not feeling many butterflies
To highlight the positives, it had an interesting storyline, the actors and the special effects were great. I enjoyed the comedic relief, but I think what was missing was the believability and genuine joy you get from observing these creatures in its natural habitat and its beauty of transforming. I was expecting something quite magical and I think it fell flat for me. It didn't hit the mark or give me butterflies but it was an okay movie to watch on a wet day.
When Calls the Heart: Straight From the Heart (2022)
Best episode so far! Deserved an Oscar! - Brilliant all-round!
This show is just fantastic! The writing is going from strength to strength! It should of made the Oscar's with the fantastic storylines and drama happening in the show. Lucas Bouchard got a sucker punch out of nowhere? And that I love you from Elizabeth to a While you were sleeping Lucas - it was out of the blue, but you knew why she said it. And the argument that wasnt argument? And Lee's interview with Hickam was so funny. And Mei helping Nathan with Newton is also endearing. Just loved Neds expression when Nathan said to him not to mention it to Florence. This episode is my favorite to date.
When Calls the Heart: Turn of the Page (2022)
Well deserved celebration!
After waiting for a number of seasons, we are finally witnessing Elizabeth's book being published and celebrated with the residents of Hope Valley. It spoke loudly to the haters and naysayers, who do not know the difference between fiction and reality. They truly have callous hearts or no hearts at all! The story writing was brilliant and always moves people with hearts to continue to watch this fantastic show. There is nothing on TV that compares with this TV series, if you are looking for good heart warming, community, hope, love and faith, this is the show to watch.
When Calls the Heart: Out Like a Lamb (2022)
It was gentle lambs?
The first episode was equivalent to the fast and the furious, there was so much happening, but still exciting. This episode was much tamer and you could track the storylines which were still exciting. Although there were different plot lines going on, you could still track the connections. The awkwardness between the 3 mains characters appear to be improving. Lucas visiting Nathan at the infirmary with ice cream was a hoot. And Nathan actually being more sarcastic and funny in this episode was refreshing. I'm sure all 3 of them will become good friends.
When Calls the Heart: In Like a Lion (2022)
Amazing and brilliant show! 👏
Nothing compares to this TV series, it's brilliantly written and provides amazing plotlines. You need to be switched on and engaged to fully appreciate all the fabulous interweaving nuances of the storylines which builds onto the next episode, it doesn't serve everything up in a plater. You have to wait for the next episode to find out, so that builds the suspense. Some people may call this choppy? But thats what suspense is meant to be? Even if you are watching it for light entertainment, it provides all that. The show is constantly evolving which I love and we are not stuck in "it use to be so good in the old days" mentality. It was but it moves on to better and greater things, which in life we should be doing. It continues to push the envelope and challenges the viewers on matters of the heart. This is an amazing and brilliant show, love it! 👏
