Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012)
Stupid to the point of annoying. ( Review has spoilers )
This movie is stupid. It's about a couple who have been together since they were young. They got married and are now in the midst of a separation. Celeste has grown and has become successful, while Jesse stays immature and more or less rides her coat tail. He never grows up and thinks it's more important to go surfing than look for a job. They obviously grow apart. The sad thing about it is they both start acting stupid. Instead of distancing themselves from each other to allow the divorce to sink in, they insist on hanging out together as if they were best buds. Celeste is acting like the enabler by throwing him freelance work and letting him live in the studio behind her house. Skip ahead into the movie..... Jesse has a short fling with a woman who ends up pregnant. All of a sudden he grows up and wants to make things work with the new woman who he's know for all of five minutes, while at the same time throwing mixed signals to Celeste as if he wants her back. Celeste breaks down and realizes she made a mistake and wants him back. This whole movie was painful to watch. Especially the part where Celeste starts acting desperate. The part that irritates me is the fact that it try's to make Celeste look like the person who has all of the issues and Jesse look like the innocent who has been wronged and deserves this second chance at life. Typical misogynist movie.
Lebanon, Pa. (2010)
Did not like Will (contains spoilers)
I watched this movie today before I left for work. It was OK. I didn't like the lead character, Will. He was a train wreck. He's annoying and acts stupid for his age. It seems like he caused problems for everybody that he came into contact with. It starts out where he has to travel out to Lebanon, PA to handle his father's affairs after he dies. It turns into him expecting his boss to put his job on hold for him while he decides what he wants to do with his life. Then he stirs up trouble for a married school teacher who he has an affair with and drags her into the middle of his problems. He's cold and insensitive to his teenage cousin when she needs somebody to talk to. At one point it's her birthday and he acted like a total jerk to her, because he was having a hissy fit about his married lover. But it's all about him. I felt bad for his mom who was in tears when she explained to him that she needed the money from the house that he was supposed to sell, but is considering keeping for himself. Again, it's all about him. What a guy. He finally got his a** kicked for all of the trouble he caused. I do have to admit, he saved face at the end of the film when he got out of his self centered fog.
On the flip side, Rachel Kitson who played CJ did a great job. She was totally believable in the part she played as his teenage cousin. In reality, this girl would have never confided in Will. I still don't understand how they ended up working that into the storyline.
This movie gets a little monotonous at times. I wouldn't recommend it.
Come Dance with Me (2012)
Andrew McCarthy is way to old for his part.
Another corny movie from the HM Channel. I love watching a good Christmas movie, but the ones that I usually find on this Channel are a little over the top. I really like Andrew McCarthy, but what were the people who cast his part thinking? They needed an actor at least 15 years younger for this role. The lady that they picked for his mother could have passed for his wife. The story line was nothing new. It was just totally unbelievable. Sorry, this movie didn't do anything to help his career. It just made him look stupid. He was much better in the part that he played in the 2009 "National Tree" Christmas movie. At least that one had a good story and was better suited to his age.
