Star Trek: Picard: Farewell (2022)
A resolution to a poor season
The final episode finally offers resolution to the excessive plotlines that entangled the second season of Picard.
Unfortunately, the miserable pacing of the season to this point has sapped any goodwill I had towards the writing; the result is that several references and callbacks to other Star Trek series induce groans and incredulity rather than any warm feelings.
The episode at least has the virtue that it finally wrapped up several plots. But it's all resolution. If episodes 3 through 9 were all cake, no icing then episode 10 is all icing, no cake.
In a show that has suffered from dragging plots several episodes too long without resolution, the writers also could not resist teasing a new mystery in the final episode. Again, if what had come before had been better written, this new mystery might be enticing. But for a viewer who feels their time has been wasted for most of the season, it's just annoying.
