Blue Jay (I) (2016)

A masterpiece
10 February 2024
An indie movie that would really deserve much more success. It's an indie movie in 90s style. It reminds me movies such as "Suburbia", "Before Sunset" where there's just a story and nothing more. It seems there's no screenplay, just two people followed by a camera that live their meeting. No structure or "narrative special effects" that directors and producers like in these days and age. The whole movie depends on the two actors, amazing. I've always loved Sarah Paulson but here she's... I really don't know, if the Academy Awards were a real award, well, she should be awarded for this movie. Amazing, heartwarming...

About Fate (2022)

Good good good

An old style movie without the presumption to be a "neorealism movie" like those that win awards but nobody watches. I really enjoyed it. In a world where people confuse feelings with suffering, illness and other "real" things, well, watching this movie is like fresh water. Acting is fine, the story is clear since the first scene but who cares? We all need to dream, to love, to connect with our heart without constantly thinking about our real problems. We all live our days surrounded by anger, poverty, inflation, Covid, cancer, war, toxic relationships and a movie like this (as in the past) is a blessing.

Good directing
4 October 2022
Probably the biggest problem is the parallel with the original ones. If this were named "Two guys and a car" or something like that, maybe people could have been less disappointed.

So, I want to think about it as a brand new movie and not as a copy of a masterpiece (according to the fans). Well, the acting is bad. Roja is not good and he hasn't the right carisma and good looking for the role. Pesce is a bit better. At last, they haven't that magical relationship that a movie like this should have (this is why Spencer-Hill worked well, but Spencer with others or Hill with others didn't work). The story is so-and-so but we must admit that even the original Spencer-Hill movies weren't good for their storyline.

What I'm really impressed is the directing technique by Younuts. They are very good and the sensation since the first scene is that they are wasted, they are so much for this screenplay. It's like if they got a bad screenplay trying to save it with a good directing. They know how to move the camera, the editing is really modern. I guess they really deserve best movies. Probably they are the most "Hollywood" directors we have in Italy.

Heartwarming
4 October 2022
Finally a movie that touches our feelings focusing on a love story without illness, suffering, psychological disorders or other diseases as every other movie of the last years. A romcom as the ones in the 80s or 90s. A particular congrats to Arcangeli. I never saw him before, but he's a good actor.

Ok the story is similar to other n movies since "Groundhog day" but for one evening I just saw a love story and not a love story between people with some type of illness or problems. Just two people that wants to love.

Well done. I hope this could be an example for others. We need movies like this.

Oooohh finally

In a world of identical movies leaded by superheroes or dramacomedy, finally a movie with actors they know how to act, a director that knows how to direct, a gray light, costumes, story, everything is as good as movies in the past.

Cool!

A picture of these years

Warning: Spoilers
The movie is a perfect representation of what the world has become. In 80s and 90s the people wanted to enjoy without thinking too much. Now behind the right motivation of the equality, there is a gray way of life, a lot of worries, fear of saying something, and overthinking were enjoying is something to share, not to live.

The way how the school has become is a perfect metaphor of this.

Stop with this cinema, Italians!
17 May 2022
Italian directors and writers must learn by the rest of the world. The world is changed. Stop with the comic movie that suddenly becomes a drama. No, if it's a comedy it must be a comedy. If I want to laugh I want to laugh. If I want to watch a drama and cry, I watch a drama.

Oh no

It could be like "Young Sheldon". Unfortunately it's like "Joey". It seems a fan tribute, even though I think a fan tribute could be better.

One episode. Stop, it's enough.
