Batman Begins (2005)
Who is this Christopher Nolan?
I was 50/50 to watch this movie thanks to G. Lucas' Star Wars Episode III, I thought that was the movie of the year for everyone and other movies would come second, before I say, "Heck, Batty rules,' I would also like to say to both Tim and Joel, "Gee, guys, thanks for the memories and hello to Chris. Tim made Batman looked like a kid on the block, off course when the movie was released back in 1989, everyone was expecting for the infamous blue caped crusader with gray shirt and tights and the yellow oval shaped with a black bat on it to emerge from the screen but no, he made batty wore all black spandex. And whats with Michael Keaton as Batman? Sure, he's ugly to be a hero but that doesn't mean he can be the Caped Crusader. Val and George were both awful as Batman, well, I can't blame them because Joel wants his Batman to be all campy like the 60's show. Then came this Nolan guy. I just wanna say to this Nolan guy.. you made Batman look good, man. I love to say this and to you all movie-mongers Batman Begins is 2005 Best Film. 'Nuff said. Members of the Academy Awards, you have awarded, in fact named LOTR - ROTK 'best picture', I'm very sure that this Nolan's movie on Batman deserves to win the best picture category as well and award Nolan for best director, this goes to the members of the BAFTA and Golden Globe as well. What do I get from all this? Satisfaction and immortalize this movie into a DVD form when it comes out later this year, I hope Nolan has the same format as Jackson's LOTR Extended Versions, I can't wait for all the special features on this movie when it comes out in DVD form. Bale, you're the best Batman; Caine, you take care of Brucie for me, you rock, man; Freeman, you're already a legend next to Guiness' Obi-Wan Kenobi and Katie, please marry Tom, he's waiting for you by the phone. My bros at Warner, keep it up. Thanks for Batman Begins. Nolan, you... who is this Nolan, guy? Hahaha, that was my expression when your name showed up scrolling through the screen as its director, I went, "Who is this Nolan, guy?' I thought this movie was directed by Spielberg or Eastwood because it was so flawless and so entertaining, I even shed tears when Bruce's parents got shot, in fact there are so many touchy scenes that you won't find in Star Wars, heck, this movie is so way better than Star Wars. Please make this movie the biggest hit of this summer so Nolan can make more sequels for Batman. Shame on Viggo and Daniel Day for not wanting to participate in this movie of the year! I'm wearing my old Batman black tee-shirt right now and thinking of Nolan.
Kingdom of Heaven (2005)
Inaccuracy Destroys Heaven
I had watched the movie and liked it so much but there are some things that I would like to highlight to Mr. Ridley Scott and it is the same mistake you have done many, many times in your movies that concerns how a Moslem pray. Moslem prays towards Qiblat where the Kaabah in Mecca is, so they pray in 'Jamaah' or together eg. a marching band, straight lines no leaving any space, in your movie, there are many scenes where Moslems pray but not in Jemaah but individual and while the bilal is calling the Moslems for prayer, there should not be any Moslems praying except for 'sunnat prayers' meaning individual prayers before the main prayer time, so there should not be a 'Jemaah'. Then the reciting of 'Al-Fatihah' by Salahuddin on a mass burial site is totally WRONG! You have shortened it and not end with 'Sodakollahul Azim'.. please do some thorough research before you make a movie that has religion content in it.
Ada Apa dengan Cinta? (2002)
There's Nothing Unique About This 'Love Thing'
I have read the comments given by fans of this movie, truthfully I have watched it with my Indonesian friends and I find it very ordinary. You have seen it mostly on Beverly Hills 90210 or Dawson's Creek, I'm just glad there's no vampires in it! I would strongly suggest that if you'd want to view this movie don't bring along your pillow because you might dozz off and not knowing the ending which is pretty hanging. The french kissing part wasn't real at all in fact I've seen better, sincere french kissing in a prono movie! No doubt there are so many pretty faces in this movie, the formula is simple, follow the style of the self-acclaimed 'Bollywood' movies: get some pretty actors/actresses (no talent at all) and be the good guys, where the ugly looking ones regardless whether they're kind at heart or not be the bad guys! So lame. I would highly recommend viewers to watch 'Nang Nak' a horror movie from Thailand or 'Ringu' from Japan or even a World War II movie called 'Embun' from Malaysia, now those are the kinda movies you wanna own in DVD form. Trust me.
Senario Lagi (2000)
Where's The Plot?
Before I give my comments on this movie I'd like to inform you guys that I have seen this movie in its origin country when I was there and that I have no what-so-ever intention to watch it 'cuz there was no good English-spoken movie on at that time of my visit to Penang. I was bored of wave surfing and sun bathing so I decided to let my hair loose (for ONCE) and be adventurous and to brave myself to watch a local movie and and I must say I succeeded! What I didn't know was (I know this may sound stupid but here goes), this movie is listed on this site! Astonishing? Maybe not to you but for me YES! First and foremost there was no English subtitles when I watched this movie and I really don't know what it's all about. The only thing I know was that it had a very funny, MAD Magazine version looking poster and it triggered my mind that this was a comedy movie. It was! I may not know what they're saying but it had all the body-talking language all over the screen like a Harold Lloyd's movie. Fun? Yes, I had fun watching them making fools of themselves. Remember this is a slapstick movie, you see. There were plenty of twist and turn in the plot until I'd to ask myself 'where's the plot?!?!" But the fun are all there. Now this, every time I visit the Blockbuster Video, I'd head down to the world cinema section, I mean a good movie like that should deserved to be on the rack of that section, right? But after a year... no. It hadn't come here yet or it will never. Bummer!
Waking the Dead (2000)
Twisted
If you have watched 'The Sixth Sense' or 'The Others' and and you loved it so much, then I highly recommend this movie to you. It is not much different between those two movies, well, almost. But I'll bet you would wanna watch the twos again after watching this.
