The Last Rifleman (2023)
Moving and touching story!
Never been a fan of Pierce Brosnan, however he deserves an accolade for his work on this film. Well done story and a relevant story we need more considering the current geopolitical environment.
We continue to take freedom and democracy for granted and continue to sleep walk and allow the thugs in leadership positions to threaten the very essence of what we should be fighting to keep and protect. Those who've never experienced freedom and democracy and gain it, like Ukrainians, will fight to their deaths to protect it.
If only I had a magic wand, surely would drop the genocidal usual suspects in the front lines to experience the atrocities of war.
Altogether the movie is heartwarming and the performance of Clemence Poesy, John Amos, Ian McElhinney, Tara Lynne O' Neil and the rest of the cast was top class. Excellent script and narrative, truly enjoyed this film. Which shows you don't need car crashes, explosions, fights, sex, shootings and violence to make a great film.
Keep it simple and tell a good story.
Ripley (2024)
What a waste of a good story
Will all the wonderful equipment available which could have enhanced the story, the cinematography is wasted or even lack there off.
Why on earth shot in black and white? The forceful performances fail to captivate and engage.
There's no allure not enraging visuals, why make a series like this? Is best to listen to an audiobook.
I suppose some will say it's gutsy and avant-garde to film this way. Sorry thanks but no thanks. With all the choices available this series fails miserably and would imagine fans of the book and movie, will no doubt be utterly disappointed. Put your attention elsewhere, this series is a lemon.
Shôgun (2024)
Excellent thus far. Great cast, cinematography, and wardrobe.
Hard to go wrong with a great story by James Clavell as foundation and thus far the cast performances, cinematography, and wardrobe are wonderful.
I will not be surprised if this series takes its share of awards. Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada, Takehiro Hira, Neator Carbonell, Tadanobu Asano, and the rest of the cast have hit it out of the park.
I can't wait for more episodes and no doubt more captivating performances.
Recently watched the entire original series with Toshiro Mifune, Richard Chamberlain and Yoko Shimada and respective cast. A must watch as well, no doubt this will also be fantastic.
Ferrari (2023)
Absolutely horrible!
What a waste of a great story. This proves how Hollywood only has the Midas touch every once in a blue moon and more often like a stomach and everything they touch turns to poo, the very large ones difficult to flush. Adam Driver was painfully fake as usual, don't understand the fascination with this guy. Much better with a mask on, at least you hide his forced acting facial expressions and the mask hides his voice. More difficult to hide the pigeon toed walking and awkward lanky movement's which brings accentuates his exuberant ears and nose. Overall he brings down the entire cast, the movie also hides the beauty of Modena and the movie should have been casted with Italian actors. The choices made the casting crew were poor, this story should have been a no brainer. You have the interest created by a globally recognized brand, squandered by poor acting and script. The two hours and eleven minutes seemed liked being sandwiched in the middle between two overly obese, smelly, and sweaty passengers in economy class.
Fast X (2023)
The lost me at hello. Since you can rate a zero a one will do.
What a waste of time, some decent cast members, still an insult subpar performance by the large majority of the crew. Do not throw good money away and pay to watch this abomination. People should be paid to get exposed to the product placement. The movie is forgettable and boring.
Please spare your loyal fans the exposure there is no contribution nor a single compelling message to pass on to society. The forceful and awkward quasi acting of a fat Jason Momoa is torture to endure.
I hope it's the end of this IQ reducing franchise, please put it to sleep. Instead of putting audiences in a coma.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Entertainingly far fetched, but is John Wick
Entertainingly far fetched, but
good action. The movie is unfortunately ruined by the repetitiveness of scenes, and god awful acting performance of Bill Skarsgard, horribly fake French accent, which equals his dismal performance. He tries so hard at times he sounds German, and Swedish. Painful to watch scenes. How can they cast him? His dad must have pulled strings. Also highly noticeable how the same stuntman get killed and appear again and again. Overall a generous five rating is fair for the effort and good performance of the other actors. Who's consistent performance more than help save the day.
Derry Girls (2018)
Loved this show. Witty and insightfully written.
Great show and performance by the cast!
Even if some of the Irish slang went over my head.
With English subs, you get a chance to look up the words. I've seeing the entire series twice and found it just as enjoyable. The series depicts how important it is to keep the peace in the region and a what people went through at the time.
The cast was in my opinion delivered a stellar performance. It wasn't forceful, I took a liking to Clare, played by Nicola Couglan and Michelle by Jamie-Lee O'Donnell, my favorite character however is Sister Michael played by Siobhan McSweeney, she was absolutely brilliant.
Andor (2022)
Booooooring! So uninteresting thus far.
It feels like the competitiveness of the various streaming services are forcing a number to throw mud against the wall and hope it sticks.
Yawndor so far lacks to deliver and is an insult to the Star Wars franchise.
Forceful acting and un-engaging performances. Each episode felt like an eternity and failed to deliver any meaningful feelings of wanting to see more. This one is a total dud full stop.
Disney, we know you want to milk the franchise, but this garbage bring clients to the subscription cancellation page, you are underestimating your audience and its a fine line you are walking with loyal hardcore fans. Doubt they will tolerate more rubbish thrown at them.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Excellent cinematography, wardrobe, CGI great cast performance thus far!
A few missed details on the wardrobe but overall the CGI and actors performance is great. Proof that you do not need a stellar cast.
Wish HBO Max would pay attention their latest House of Dragon creation leaves a lot to be desired. Dark and dimmed scenes and substandard CGI, to hide the flaws. Not food at all.
The shooting locations are beautiful and it shows that it's a worthwhile production.
Looking forward to the entire series. Kudos thus far.
They deviated from the book but it's well done and we fans should keep an open mind and give it a chance.
This series is surely going to gain a fan base, and popularity for the cast.
Amazon has scored big with this saga.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A massive YAWN!!!
Boring, badly scripted and so horribly predictable.
Lost the loving feeling during the first few scenes. Good special effects but most definitely did not Take my breath away.
Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber (2022)
Good story telling nice cast and believable acting
Travis was a serious piece of 💩 and the enablers in the VCs are just as guilty for creating a monster. This is what happens when you allow greedy investors to pump and dump. They help build overvalued companies and enable incompetent individuals to do as they please regardless of the concequences. They seriously damage others lives and leave bodies on their wake. If they do well they cash in, if not they are also discarded. At the end who cares is the funds money not their own, OPP.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Forced acting, disappointing
The Reva character is so bad. Horrible, they could have casted a better villain. Just not credible and painfully fake. The inquisitors seemed painfully dull. Dinesh whilst his comedic talent in Silicon Valley was phenomenally of the charts. Anything else he has done since, just has not cut it and this appearance is no exception. The rest of the cast seemed legit and believable, but sadly not enough to make an impact.
It feels like Disney is just milking the franchise and as result will disenfranchise a loyal fan base. Everything has limits and frankly as a hard core fan I have reached mine. I can't be alone on this. I gave it a two rate for the love of what it has been.
Anything else beyond that would be dishonest.
The Northman (2022)
Was looking forward to it, what a disappointment, awful!
The acting came across forced, and fake at times, a fan of the cast members. Hope they do well, and we had a bad night. What did Nicole do to her face? The violence and bloody action was not enough to keep us engaged. As Swedes in the US we wanted to love it. Sadly as we say in Swedish fruktansvärt dåligt, Horribly bad. Skit, skit, jävla dåligt.
Ledsen Alexander det är sant!
