Lou (2022)
Might have been really good if it wasn't so dark
This movie is so dark that I couldn't see what was happening for most of the movie. The movie was literally black screen for multiple minutes at a time and the rest in shadow. Yes, some of it made sense during night scenes and it does take place in the perpetually overcast Pacific Northwest but it did not have to be taken to such extremes. Even day scenes were dark. I'm not a fan if this style which seems to be so prevalent now. It made the movie extremely hard to follow. Other than that, the plot was interesting. It was well cast and the scenery, when you could see it, was beautiful. If dark screens don't get on your nerves the way they do mine then give this movie a try.
Secrets in Suburbia (2017)
Don't waste your time!
Seriously, this movie has got to be the worst one I have ever watched. The acting is horrible. The dialog is predictable and sounds as if it were written by a middle schooler and not a very smart middle schooler at that. The plot is horrible with many holes and a total lack of logical progression. There is a feeble attempt to create tension with music which totally fails. Nothing about the movie is believable. The characters are shallow and it's even impossible to feel sympathy for the protagonist while her husband tries to murder her. Everything about this movie is horrible. I'm embarrassed that I watched the whole thing rather than turning it off after the first few minutes. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Don't waste your time!
