The Marvels (2023)
8/10
Worth the Watch
12 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Based off the early reviews I expected this movie to be just as bad as the Ms. Marvel Disney plus show. However after watching it for myself I not only like the movie but look forward to rewatching it for a second experience. I loved the character interactions between the Marvels. A lot of moments felt like they were sister's bonding in an old school traditional "girly" way which I loved because it seems like a lot of American women have lost that aspect to themselves. The fight scenes are fun and creative, I loved that they had to essentially retrain themselves how to use their powers given the newly added twist. The suits looked amazing, and I'm sure in no time there will be fan art of the 3 flooding the internet. If I had to pick my favorite from the movie I would say it's Ms. Marvel she had a very "Spider-Man" fan boy/ fan girl vibe to her that felt very authentic. And I loved both Captain Marvel and Captain Rambeau's characters and how they explored the shared history between the two. The most noticeable being how warm and kind Brie Larsons character was in comparison to the first Captain Marvel movie. It seems as if she tries her best to put on a strong face because there's a lot of people counting on her as being one of the world's most powerful characters but in this movie she shows her softer side and I loved to see it. Overall the movie is worth watching, and you don't need to watch the separate shows in order to know what's going on. I only wish Captain Rambeau had a bigger part in the movie I look forward to seeing her get more screen time in the future.

The Flash: Wednesday Ever After (2023)
Season 9, Episode 1
9/10
Great Start
10 February 2023
This episode was everything you love about the Flash wrapped up into one episode. Last season was a huge improvement for the show and this season so far seems to be just as promising if not possibly even better. Grant was great per usual and it was great to see Candice back in the main lineup. The story starts off with a nice but subtle twist that keeps you intrigued. And then it only gets better from there. And can we talk about how awesome this seasons poster looks? Truly a piece of art I wouldn't be surprised if you'll see people hanging up the poster on their walls in the future. The characters all seem to have had their own person growth. And after more than 2 pretty bad seasons I can genuinely say I believe that they might've finally fixed the formula. Will this acceptable level of quality writing be consistent or will we ultimately be let down like we have in the past? That's the main question on my mind as a fan of the show and the character I'm rooting for another win for The Flash. But only time will tell, so far so good. Can't wait for the next episode.

Not for me
16 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I felt like it was boring for the most part just too many slow scenes and unnecessary scenes that could've been cut. And I honestly didn't really care for the villain plot it felt like Kilmongers same logic being used again for the villains main goals & intentions. The action scenes were good but it wasn't much of that until an hour or so into the story. Which makes the story pacing seem to last forever. Also the villains perspective? Couldnt even relate to it his reaction to the outside world seemed rather late as he waited so long to even make a attempt to wage war and get revenge which just doesn't make sense when you see how powerful he was at such an young age. And there was an absurdly large amount of female characters in the movie it was hardly any male representation in the story. I don't mind female characters especially Okoye and Nakia I love both. But without the male character M'Baku it feels like you go majority of the movie with just female characters and that sucks. I truly missed Chadwick and his presence in the movie. Black Panther just won't be the same without him. Overall not one of the better Marvel movies.

Beautiful
29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1 word to describe Tales of the Jedi... Beautiful. You can tell it was created by people who love what they're doing. It just felt like such a rich, meaningful story. And to expand the Star Wars universe in such ways, it's just brilliant. Well done .. Ashoka is hands down one of my favorite Star Wars characters she's everything that a Jedi truly should be. Seeing more of her story felt like a privilege, like a treat from Star Wars if you will. Now let's get into Count Dooku when I say they made me truly care about his character I mean it. I really wanted to see his redemption, given that I already knew where he would eventually end up for some reason I still found myself rooting for him to find his way back to the light. I can't remember the name of the female Jedi that was of the same race as Yoda but she also was a great character. I felt like she was extremely empathetic towards Dooku and even shared some of his perspectives. To see how their roads crossed felt like I witnessed an event that crushed a persons soul leaving them a shell of the person that they used to be. The story is simply but the emotions are very much in dept.

Another great animated DC movie
24 October 2022
Batman & Superman Battle of the Super Sons was a great movie. They took a gamble with that art style and I think it really paid off. The story was well written and light hearted. It can easily become a comfort movie for many. Johnathon Kent was probably my favorite character in the movie. I think having Starro be the antagonist was a smart choice and I like the spin they did on his design he looked pretty creepy and I loved that. I also enjoyed seeing all the other heroes. Hopefully DC continues putting out animated movies with different art styles because I enjoy seeing how different these characters can be designed by different artist. As someone who loves animation this movie felt like something I would wake up to watch on a Saturday morning when I was 10. Well done.

Black Adam (2022)

Wow, well done.
22 October 2022
I was pleasantly surprised by how good this movie was, The Rock was fantastic he took his acting skills to the next level. The movie was just as fun as I've been hearing, the lore is well explained without being overwhelming, the story is interesting, and takes a twist when you least expect it. Black Adam was ruthless and violent and I loved it haha. And all the Easter eggs were fun to see aswell. Having that miniature Batman statue fall that was in the kids room and Black Adam punch through a Superman poster was so cool to see. Then the other characters were great too! Cyclone, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman all had their respective 15 minutes when they got to "show off." I can't wait to see a sequel.. well done DC.

Prey (I) (2022)

Pleasantly Surprised!
9 September 2022
When I first saw this movie was going to be a Predator movie fighting an Indigenous American tribe I had a feeling it was going to be good. I love the representation and they did a great job executing the vibe. The two main characters were quite interesting and the inner conflicts with them felt natural and well written. I love that this movie shows women empowerment without dumping on the male characters. Or reducing their skill quality to prop hers up. Predator was also fantastic the fight scenes were awesome it's a bit of a slow start but worth the wait because the climax is satisfying. I would love to see another movie like this with Predator but set in a different time period and setting maybe ancient Asia fighting Samurai?

Good concept, poor execution.
18 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm honestly a bit disappointed but slightly not surprised as this tends to be the common theme & direction that Marvel has been going towards lately but okay here we go.

The acting wasn't the best & that's also considering Mark Ruffalos acting as well. It all felt so stale, Hulks actions & expressions didn't match up seamlessly, they both looked and felt off which is weird because Mark has never done a bad job before as hulk. I also thought some of the dialogue itself was corny and forced.. hearing Hulk say "bruh" felt so wrong I think we all might need a shower after that one Speaking of forced. Did y'all see the ridiculous way she became a hulk? Hulk got cut & his blood fell into her wound? Yikes.. that was another let down because compared to the comic explanation this makes Banner seem incompetent rather than just having to make a tough decision that would be the final call to save her life. In this version of the story they both had precisely one superficial wound from the car crash in which somehow their arms perfectly lined up & his blood dripped into her open wound. If only there was a super smart doctor/scientist there that fully understood the danger of allowing his blood to interact with others. And went out of his way to ensure nothing like that could happen.. (Face palm) Also lets not bypass the elephant in the room. They laid the men bashing on pretty thick, every male character in the episode was seen as an antagonist. There wasn't a single male character shined in a positive light not even Banner himself who was showed being petty & jealous of the She Hulk character for gaining control of her powers so quickly. I'm a male who grew up living with 5 sisters and 2 nieces I have never once felt jealously over their achievements that just doesn't resonate whatsoever for me. It's weird seeing someone who is perceived as one of the smartest minds in the universe have such a childish demeanor, so weird that it feels as if it was forced to push a certain narrative in the plot. Jennifer also essentially blames all problems in her life on men, and tells Banner that he doesn't understand what it's like to be harassed on the street and to be constantly in fear of how her actions will affect her life if she says or does the wrong thing. She has some nerve considering she's speaking to Banner who has been on the run for many years, targeted by military, seen as property all while still being feared by those he has saved multiple times now. Banner who has ran away from a opportunity of love out of fear of what his alter ego could possibly do to those when he's not in control. If you were worried about this show Nerfing Hulk to prop up She Hulk more as a badass then I think you might've actually been onto something. She tries to leave in a jeep he tries to stop her and the Hulk got sent flying by a... Jeep. A Jeep was capable of putting Hulk on his ass.. the same Hulk that put a halt to one of Thanos's Chitauri ships without fully giving all his effort. I don't even know how to process that one.. Finally let's talk about the introduction of the Titania character... Oh man that scene was cringey. It's definitely giving off CW Flash vibes & don't get me wrong The Flash show has its great moments I've watched from Season 1 up until the current available season but it has a chronic problem with cringey dialogue. Her introduction also felt weirdly placed and random.

Ultimately I think it's fair to check the show out for yourself because my perspective might be different from others. But so far I'm underwhelmed I'll keep watching the show so long as they don't continue to bash men if it gets too bad I'll just stop watching I honestly get so tired of men always being bashed and pinned into negative spot lights. The whole male vs female war is so tiring at this point.

Pretty decent movie but..
9 July 2022
#ThorLoveandThunder 7.7/10

Its a pretty decent movie but it doesnt explore the story or Thor character nearly enough in my opinion. It didn't do the best job at raising the stakes of the possible threat & the pacing doesnt really allow you to fully absorb everything happening. I feel like the antagonist should've been explored more in depth. Wish we could've gotten to see the death of more Gods & speak on have the antagonist speak on their intentions more. The fighting scenes also weren't anything new from Thor. I did however like the other ways that different powers were shown throughout the movie tho. Jane fosters Mighty Thor is actually one of the most refreshing aspects of the movie. Overall I have to say I enjoyed Thor: Ragnarok more than Thor: Love and Thunder. But this movie is still worth the watch.
