Trainwreck (2015)
Quite interested by the low reviews
So I saw this in theatres when I had to be roughly 18 years old. I do remember finding it funny and a good date night kind of movie back then.
Fast forward >10 years now and just now rewatching with my wife. Not gonna lie, I still enjoyed it. I'm very familiar that as of roughly 2016 the internet loves to hate Amy Schumer. Not sure why. Kinda think it's the same as when the internet started to hate Nickleback. Like seriously? Cmon now, everyone loves Rockstar.
Back to the movie. I thought it was a great rom com. Didn't feel the movie "drag on" like so many reviews say. If anyone wants to know my humor- Shane Gillis is my favorite comedian. That's about my humor level. This isn't Shane funny whatsoever, but it has a handful of good laughs, great direction, good morale of the story, and Bill Hader is the man. Idk y'all. I think it's a good watch and should be in the 7.4ish zone. 6.2 is fugazi.
South Park: Joining the Panderverse (2023)
Absolutely hilarious- going to get review bombed
This was top tier South Park. If you have any sort of normal views, and think things have clearly gone crazy all over the country, you will die laughing at this special. It is unbelievably on point from the AI, blue collar workers, and of course the Disney fiasco.
Of course the episode probably won't be above an 8.0 because this episode makes fun of "the narrative" that for some weird reason we aren't allowed to object from. So many solid one liners throughout the special.
We all need to be very grateful to have the genius of South Park make fun of lunacy in such a ridiculous and clever way that it will resonate with everyone. Very good stuff.
Dave (2020)
Are you a dude in your late 20s- early 30s?
This show has a very specific audience. I would relate the humor to "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia". You either get it or you don't. In this review I will be talking to those who get it
If you're in the age range for this show it'll easily be your top pick. Season 1 is incredible (I actually rate s1 e9 as one of my favorite episodes of television ever). Didn't overly love s2 but s3 made an incredible comeback. LD is such a clever songwriter and he's a much better show writer. Please give it a try and you will not be disappointed. Like I said, if you're a dude in this age group it will speak to you. This show does a wonderful job of keeping things light hearted and hilarious, yet very introspective and full of wisdom. F Ted lasso, this show is better.
Dave has taken a top spot for me in the shows that I love the most. It is right up there with entourage, curb your enthusiasm, workaholics and Always Sunny. It will 100% be talked about for years to come.
Shane Gillis: Live in Austin (2021)
Extremely Funny
Shane is the best in the business at making you feel comfortable right from the get go. He has a charm in his way of telling stories that makes you feel like you've known him your whole life. As if Shane was in the friend group growing up. He is absolutely hilarious in this.
Don't make it too complicated. Grab some friends, grab some drinks, and laugh hard for an hour straight.
Disclaimer: Shane dunks on both sides of the political aisle continuously... if by any chance you're one of those insufferable people who make politics your whole personality, maybe sit this one out. Or don't. Maybe you'll learn to laugh a bit at the absurdity of life.
