The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
This Is {The Last of} Us
Some seem to not prefer the deviation from the storyline, but as a non-gamer, this episode added so much needed context/perspective to the post-apocalyptic world being navigated. Why struggle and fight so hard for survival if you can't actually live? Honestly though, one of the best stories of human connection that I have ever seen - in any sense. Take notes, all of you 'This is Us' type creators.
I generally don't watch 'zombie' content, but this series just crushes it every week. Give Nick an Emmy for this one. (Then hang tight to watch Bella earn hers in ep 8). Such a great show. Cannot wait for the finale!
The People We Hate at the Wedding (2022)
Whose idea was this?
No clue how this got a single 10 star rating... must have been bots or 12 year olds. It was just awful. I love Allison Janney, but I seriously wonder if she was blackmailed into this. The opening voice over had me rolling my eyes, and as it turns out, that was one of the better scenes. This movie is about a family, but not a single character is portrayed as having ever met before. Just a bunch of poorly written, predictable, trash humans walking around spewing verbal diarrhea (and other bodily fluids) at each other. The second hand embarrassment was real. Side note: if you loved Aquaman, you might just love this movie, too!
Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration (2022)
Just here for Joshua Henry
I bet this was fun in person, but it felt a bit disjointed as a TV special. Still, it was worth it to see Joshua Henry, who was an absolutely amazing Gaston. I loved every second he was on screen. At least skip around to watch his scenes. Really great stuff.
The beast suit was odd, but Josh Groban did phenomenal as always. H. E. R. , while an enjoyable artist, left me wanting something different. As my daughter put it, 'it felt like the credit scene took over the movie'. The pop sound did not hold up on stage next to power vocals of Gaston and Beast. Shania was also a bit weak. I know Ms Potts wasn't an epic vocal, but Angela added character that made it endearing.
Aquaman (2018)
My kids are now dumber
Except for my youngest who had the sense to go to bed early rather than be forced to finish Aquaman. Jason is a cool dude... but like what even is the rest of this? Someone made this and said 'YES, this is the vision!' Fire that guy.
