Inside Man (II) (2022)

I tried to enjoy but couldn't.

Tucci's storyline and character engaged me. However I found this incredibly frustrating. I had to skip through parts, yes I wanted to find out what happens and yes that's a sign of something good. Having to skip through scenes is another thing. It felt abit all over the place. I found myself just getting annoyed at every character. I couldn't understand why the vicar would want to protect the "vulnerable pedofile" instead of protecting the children. His moral dilemma was totally confusing. I understand what he was going for, but unfortunately I just couldn't enjoy it. I appreciate when something is meant to be hard to watch but this just wound me up. The flicking back and forth between the storylines didn't keep my interest but instead just made it feel messy in parts. Don't get me wrong it's not awful, it's not the worst acting or writing I've seen by a mile. It is just utterly frustrating. It felt like he had lots of good ideas that were mashed up into one. I wish there was more character development.

Wine Country (2019)

I did laugh.

I think people can read too much into things. It didn't try to be clever or stand out. It's enjoyable and a good comedy. I laughed throughout. Sometimes it's good to enjoy films where you don't have to concentrate on the plot or get too involved with the characters. Unpretentious and just a group of friends having a laugh. I'm also British so the dry humour, which I recognise is on purpose in most parts, is actually funny to me. Not the funniest or best film I've seen but I don't regret watching it. I feel they didn't try too hard which stops it being cringey. Everyone's taste in films is different and normally I am fussy with comedy's as I'm used to saractic shows and films, for example the British version of the office. However I didn't mind this at all. Would recommend to watch with a glass on wine :).

The Holiday (2021)

Left with a weird feeling after watching.
9 July 2022
The acting wasn't awful but the rest I'm really unsure of. Felt like a lot was happening in the plot however still managed to be boring and drag on. I couldn't connect to the emotions that the characters had, I feel like this could of been down to the dialogue, the camera angels, and the directing etc was just off. Normally after watching something, even if it is depressing or sad, I come away with still knowing the meaning or a message behind it. However, I just came away feeling depressed and unpleased. The character development just wasn't there and it ended up with the boy teenager (can't remember his name) being right in the centre of the plot. The only scenes of him involved abit of crying and him being angry. There was potential for building on this, giving how long the episodes were. I have seen worse things however felt like this just missed the mark and I kind of wasted my time. Most reviews are bad and I'm guessing because it was unsatifysing overall. As a viewer I didn't take anything away from it. It just felt awkward, I wasn't on the edge of my seat, I wasn't always engaged, just abit frustrated. Not quite sure what their goal was.
