Sheroes (2023)
Thought I'd check it out for Wallis Day
Because she's a nice girl as much as she has a great actress. She's really nice to her fans. She doesn't seem to get a lot of opportunities. Maybe they think she's too intimidatingly sexy. Anyway, every time I see a whole lot of bad reviews, I tend to want to check out the IP more because critics tend to be wrong. The great thing about streaming, is you do not have to sit through something if you don't want to. You can just watch it in little intervals. A lot of times if a movie is compelling, then I'll probably want to stay and watch it in one sitting. But just because I watch something in one sitting, doesn't mean it was a good movie.
Blue Water High: Episode #3.22 (2008)
Blue Water high: lots of themes in this one
Adam clearly was in the right. This is if the coming counselor had radar from distance. He could see Adam and Cassie before he actually saw Cassie and Adam. Adam and Cassie were ready for a day in paradise, Australia style, surf style, as they call it. Certainly a nice vacation place, certainly a nice surf place. No doubt the sexiest couple in a place where everyone gives you a serious run for the money, and place where these people can be considered the sexiest girls in the world. At least amongst them. And Adam had the sexiest among this group. And there's one more thing about Adam that surely, the new coming counselor Dan could clearly see that really bother Dan. You just have to see it. Let's face it on some level low-key or more it's all over. What had to really hurt Dan's ego, when he decided to use his power to volunteer Cassie for some of the training stunts, she stated that she really didn't want to do it. So Dan doubled down. While the synopsis predictably paints Adam as a sort of villain for being jealous that Dan paid Cassie so much attention, he really is the victim here. At the end of the day, psychology exposes. A woman likes for a man to be jealous although she says on the outside otherwise. And she showed that at the end of the episode. Dan's plan failed. Again this displays that Australia has some of the best writing in the world.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Deceptive advertising
As expected from this app to protect the perversioners and a demographic hypocrisy. The father-daughter sexual implications are beyond crossing the line. It's really bad, and it's branded and advertising something interesting and innocent. There's so many of these. It's so sad, and answer the many layers of the problems of Hollywood. It was nominated, and praised. Straightforwardness is not in style anymore in a situations like this. If you're going to advertise the movie be direct!; you don't know who your audience is. On top of that it's overrated. But aren't they always? What do you learn from it? 7 year itch? There's nothing worse than an app that has things. And boy do they have things to hide.
H2O: Just Add Water (2006)
Shallow entrance into deep waters
Being nice is a virtue and this program makes good use of that. Australian writers are truly the best, but they falter when it comes to Charlotte. They got one dimensional and took the easy way out by making her the bad mermaid. All of these women are beautiful, and by the billing, there is a sense of discrimination. You can do better than that, Australia. Taking the groupthink approach makes you a groupthink writer, and that's not good. In fact, you suck for writing this. It's a straight 180, and one of the reasons, your show, with so much great potential, lasted only 3 seasons. I guess, the days of your great writing ended in 2006, and you reduced yourselves to the annals of American script writing.
Everyone Is Doing Great (2018)
Stopwatch
Not just a word. Whenever I think about my ADHD, that's a problem for whatever I'm watching. I had to get by counting the minutes. I checked to see how many minutes long the particular episode that I was watching was. 35 minutes, for episode 2, because I wanted to see Caribe Heine, from Blue water high, a show out of Australia, where real writers come from. I know people talk sometimes tripping over their words, but that formula does not work here. You have to know when something works and when it doesn't come and not just consider what you think is a realistic. You have to learn to feel things. Yes this series sucks. And you have to be a good writer, because there are a lot of pretty women in the world, and the only reason why I discovered the extraordinary mermaidian looking Caribe, is because of the great writing used in Blue water high. If she hadn't been in a show with such great writing, I probably wouldn't notice her, despite her having candidacy for the most beautiful woman in Hollywood or Australia or whatever part of the film industry she's in. Unfortunately I had to look up which episode she was in, because I just did not have patience for this series. I found out she was in episode 2 I guess I said that before up in here somewhere. Episode 2 of season 1. The Stars score I gave this series does not reflect on her.
Blue Water High (2005)
Deceptive amount of stars
Australian writers are truly the best in the world. They seem to truly know the human psyche. It's no wonder their soap operas have lasted longer than any in the world. Of course this is not a soap opera but the writing still stands. I'm sure these actors consider this a true proving ground for a career around the world in acting, and I can almost assume, that some of the actors that felt they were graduating into American television and movies, may have found out they made a mistake. I know for a fact some actors who came to America, turned around and went back to Australia. I don't know the reason for certain but I can pretty much guess I might be right and I just described it. Yes this is another teen show. Which is probably something I would not say if I were from Australia. The writing really seems to matter here. That's the best I can say. They manage something big. What seem to be looking like apartheid, in season 1, went like whiplash, turning into the University of diversity in season 3. Now they still seem to be a part of that training involving one black actor and the rest of the cast being white. That's not a good thing. But even with that, they managed to feature the black characters in a way that America seems to have a problem. In fact, never subscribe to one black and the rest white because that's not the way the world really looks, I credit them for how they handled the writing in this series. So five stars for the writing, and acting, and five no stars, for still adhering to the big ratio. But in this series, they did so good, that it's fitting. But this outlier shall not be the rule. If it were for the writing alone, this would get 10 Stars.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
CBS knows they are shaky
They decided yet to cancel another series. But they decided to stay attached to it and attached to NBC and their broadcasting of it, when it was renewed; certainly wanted that money just in case. They made a financially wise decision, but it still doesn't make them look good. But I'm pretty sure they don't care. CBS knows they have canceled winners on more than one occasion and kept crappy low rated stuff on more than one occasion. CBS knows they canceled stuff with high ratings, that had winning material. So you know that ratings many a Time, have nothing to do with the renewal or cancellation of a show, especially since a lot of people watch their programming on other platforms besides linear old school television. Sometimes the reason for cancellation or renewal of a show are political. CVS has plenty of money, and they've shown that all the networks are one like a new world order or a world order. This is a CBS NBC production now. Originally it was just a CBS production.
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Disturbing.
The language is interspersed. There are messages. A lot of offensive things. You might say the movie is disturbing too but if you say it's technically bad, you simply just hate black people. On some level I don't know what to do this movie, but it is not badly made. It came to my attention, during all the flack against Will Smith. I didn't bother to see the first of the franchise. I saw his Instagram, and he mentioned the movie. You can't deny he has a talent, for making you curious. So I checked the movie out. And it's proof that if you have special talent, you will be envied. Simple as. I have ADHD, and I couldn't stop myself from watching more of this movie, then I thought I would.
90210 (2008)
Stereotype
This show is the brainchild of the executive producer of Beverly hills 90210. All the characters fit the bill according to most Hollywood execs. He considers the hunk of the group to be a white guy. The white guy with the dark hair. His name is Liam. And he's the one that they would describe as tall dark and handsome, only, the dark is in reference to the hair. The top blonde vixen of the group is Naomi with a curly blonde hair. Again, a white chick. Thirdly, there is the token black guy. And it is important to these execs, that he is labeled the black guy, with a sign saying the black guy on his chest. Protesting about how hard it is to be a black guy in a totally white neighborhood. Then there's a fact that the main white chick and the token black guy are never allowed to get together romantically. They are treated as buddies and she gives him advice. Next there's the fact that the top vixen and hunk get together sexually, and she drops her clothes for him. And there is the guy that most resembles the executive producer, and he also gets the top vixen, and he gets her last, for the climactic moment in the show. He is treated as the nerd type, who the exec expects you to see as an underdog. Then he turns out to be a superhero, she really lusts after. There's another guy who represents for the executive producer, who gets the other vixen of the show, the brunette with green eyes, who can't get over him, after a relationship. This is Hollywood in a nutshell. I gave the show 10 Stars, but I didn't mean it. The show deserves zero Stars.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Do you really think a movie can make $2 billion in less than a month?
If you do you're falling for the banana in the tailpipe, and the funny Hollywood math. First of all this movie is not good enough to make that much money. Secondly it's just mathematically impossible. You have to spend $100 million on your own ticket, or corporate spent a billion and 4/5 come and let you spend the rest. Hollywood thinks you listen to anything they say. They think you're stupid. Since their mainstream media whatever they say goes in your mind that's what they think. Are you really going to go for that? It took Star wars A New Hope, 3 years at three dollars a ticket back in the day, to be the biggest legitimate box office success in the world. You haven't invented a math that explains what they're doing these days. It's just not possible. I'm going with the flow. It looks like I gave it 10 Stars. In reality I give it zero Stars.
New Amsterdam (2018)
Executive Hollywood loves this
This is their comfort optic. Of course he's the main protagonist. Of course she led the place first, and now he takes over, and she works for him. Plus she supports his physical condition with her skills, plus she's his lover. Much more acceptable, than the first bridgerton season optic, romantically, as far as the executive Hollywood is concerned. Keyword, optic. Unlike the first season bridgeton optic, I never hear the end of the hyped advertising from mainstream media of this show, New Amsterdam, and that other show, Bob hearts abishola. But as for the first season bridgeton optic, I hear no hype, or commercials, from the mainstream media. Just a lot of Instagram accounts from regular fans around the world. Organically. So I guess that gives an idea how high the viewership is for the first season bridgeton optic, and how the New Amsterdam optic, AKA the abishola optic, AKA the second bridgerton season optic is purported by mainstream media to be out distancing the first bridgerton season optic, in viewership. Instagram begs to differ. Never let politics get in the way of a story, because the story won't be much good, if you do. The following 10 Stars mean the opposite.
Abbott Elementary (2021)
Trope City
The reason why this show gets so many awards and so much hype and is devoid of tokenism, is because it reinforces racial stereotypes, tropes, cliches ad jump the shark nauseam. Anytime you maintain this status quo, you can be guaranteed awards season winnings in Hollywood. This is designed to make certain individuals feel better. There are many ways to get schooling, and this just gaslights you in a feeling that those ways are inferior. It's very political. It seems to be the only way any of these people would get any of those awards. It's a poor illustration of this culture. It's not true, because it gives the indication that is just how this culture is.
The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021)
Even though
Even though critics of this movie protest too much, that it 'rewrites history', you got to laugh at the suggestion. Consider the source. Ironically in the many attempts to cover, even if it is rewriting history, some of the critics being jazz musicians, complain that the movie stereotypes black people. So what's the difference? How can you tell if history is real? Just look at today. Leopards don't change their spots. It's easier to believe that it was true. Weather authorities try to stop Billie Holiday from singing the song, or or the jazz musicians are correct in their assessment of the movie, what's the difference between how she is depicted as being treated, and how the jazz musicians say they are depicted? It's the same thing, so the depiction is true. Indeed the more one protests, the more that protest reveals that the protester gives away that those their protesting against, are right. Not only is Jack Nicholson right about the truth, but it also cannot be hidden. By the way that line by Jack Nicholson in that movie, not this movie, is the greatest line ever said in a movie.
Heojil kyolshim (2022)
In the interest of recent headlines..
A certain couple is in the news for having an affair and they're getting blasted as if affairs never happened before. Yet, that same press is praising this movie and the adultery that is committed in it. Plus the movie is overrated, and, the description of what the critics think is Cinema from this genre is Cookie cutter style, as if to say all of the movies have the same elements. By the way, this story was told before, featuring a couple like the one being blasted. The story was much better then, but again, this is not an endorsement of adultery, adultery is adultery, no matter who does it. But it would be nice, if it was said with a chest, what the real issue is, when it comes to blasting a couple, by verbally assaulting them. Against the backdrop of such phoniness, this movie was not timely. And let's not pretend everyone isn't affected by the environment. Either way, this story is average at best, and far from original. By now you figured it. Unless stated otherwise, the number of stars given is the opposite of the number of stars deserved.
Sabrina (1995)
Manipulative
It's absolutely misogynistic. Words are written cleverly that may cause involuntary muscle reactions. But it is not a good movie and neither is its predecessor. A whole bunch of men were behind this movie and it shows. They think they know what a woman wants. I watched and she got emotionally beat up and manipulated and held on until supposedly her dream came true. That's the story. This original script was written at a time when men dominated and it shows. It's old Hollywood. The worst kind of foul language is in it and it's only one word. Also, just because you might laugh at something that's meant to be funny doesn't mean that it is. I really don't care what kind of score this gets below this post.
Wednesday (2022)
The real Nancy Drew
Don't know if it was his intent but Tim Burton managed what the cw could not . Nancy Drew was supposed to be a mystery solver but it turned into a disappointing spook fest . This edition of Wednesday was supposed to be a spook fest and was but it also made her the mystery solver. At that, it managed to hold its own. Cristina Ricci is the epitome of Wednesday Addams set against the lame script and Jenna Ortega is a decent to good Wednesday set against a slightly better script, but much better than the scripts provided Cristina, especially in the sequel. That sequel was the worst script. The first sequel could have been skipped.
Emily in Paris (2020)
Gets what he wants
Darren Star represents the Hollywood 'elite', yet he gets viewership. It doesn't matter how many stars his stuff gets, people watch it at least, once. He has all the tropes: black man as second class citizen while waving a diversity flag(Star is doing the waving), blonde being frustrating, lead character is white. Star always traverses Pop culture and still gets you to follow his soap opera style. While he proports to respect other than his native tongue, the climactic moments involve English. The tropes remain repugnant. There have been authors who could step outside themselves. He's not one of them. If you're into mercenary TV producers, this one's for you. The language is offensive.
Tromperie (2021)
Red flags flying
All the Hollywood regulars adult minor race sex the usual. Woody Allen style music. This one happens to be the old man and young woman. It's all about the optics. I give this movie a zero because of the authorities behind it. And beyond that needing to fill the quota of words and characters in this review I go on about thinking of words to fill it up with. As usual with a movie like this there's a lot of vague descript. For instance, I promise says that all these lovers are what this man might have dreamed up. Of course you know those women are really there and he's having sex with them along with his wife.
Rediscovering Christmas (2019)
The perfect pair
Jessica and BJ are the perfect pair. This pairing intimidates some and make some very envious and jealous and bitter. But Sparks flew from the screen. Her beauty shape and his strong shape next to her was a Wonder to watch. Her singing is magnificent her song are strong the story had a little bit of drama bringing the two together but it was worth it to watch every moment. These parents are always strong and that is why they get the biggest reaction. Everybody watches. BJ has tons and tons of chemistry. And together Jessica and BJ light up the screen. Some other guy that would be preferred by the naysayers would be limp. And lame. BJ's character was worried and rightly so but Jessica's character Save the Day and began a wonderful relationship between the two that is top notch. It's unfortunate what's still going on out there. The reasons that are hidden by way of the naysayers, is backwards primitive and so 1950s. To be too cowardly to admit what the reason is that the naysayers disapprove of this relationship takes away from the season. Judging from other reviews that applaud the idea of division, what a sad day. Only harmonious people have worthy rating to give.
Bones and All (2022)
Romance?
The slave couple optic that's the patriarchy loves so much is displayed here. They love it so much that they call it Romance and love, no matter what. If the optic was opposite and represented the vindication against the slave optic, it would not be called Romance, except for the fact that this movie subject matter would be the exception. But if it had a positive ending the patriarchy would hate to call it romance or love if the optic was the Vindication optic. If you know, you know. Of course, this is not a romance movie. One thing I will gleam from this is, the idea that evil is a choice is absurd. It's a plight, a Savage one one. If you seek not rescue from the plight, you have made it horrible choice, and you are evil. It certainly makes you ask the question, why is there evil? How can you find Romance among cannibalism? This movie gets no stars, but I'm putting up five stars just to throw critics off. If you don't change your way from evil you are evil. You don't deserve a good thing. This movie is a trash offering and should not have been made. Calling something like this a romance is a desperate political ploy.
Love Actually (2003)
Critic requirements
If you're not paying attention and you read professional critics reviews from the start to the Finish, something is getting increasingly clearer. The first review will always be by a white male. First impressions are everything. Considering how this movie is put together and considering all the reviews, that much is clear. The first story is about a man getting cheated on my wife and a videographer. How is that good or happy? But the reviews suggest that this is a happy conglomeration of stories. Plus the title Love Actually has been made very famous by being forced down our throats on a regular basis. This reviewer has heard that title so often, then eventually This reviewer would check the movie out. Again this reviewer gives this movie 10 Stars but not really. At heart this movie deserves no stars but you know what's happening here. This movie is terrible it's bad it is not good. Could not get through it I would never watch it more than once and certainly would not recommend it.
Native Son (2019)
Movies are not reviewed
Political opinions are given instead. This movie have that minimum requirement in order for HBO to want to distribute it by a black director. Gang violence. The predictable reviews are predictably high in Praise. The actors that most resemble the HBO heads Proclaim that nobody gets off scott free when in reality the only one who doesn't get away with anything , the main black character trying hard to be doing right ends up killing and getting killed by cops who use the excuse they thought it was a gun coming out when in reality the crime was being black. It so happens the cops did not know what he did when they shot him. This story has been told many times in Hollywood Cinema and yet Hollywood pretend like it's original and poetic. This movie gets 10 Stars for deceptive purposes. The real rating from this reviewer is zero star.
A Rainy Day in New York (2019)
Controversial film
So the now controversial director is at it again. Literally. The old formula of if it's successful, do it again and again and again and again Etc. This time, the director is controversial. What apparently is metaphysically impossible to believe here, is metaphysically possible to believe when other celebrities. But when art imitates life and the director is in denial it's kind of awkward. Still actors feel it's the right of passage to do a Woody Allen film. Even if some and higher ups pretend to be offended by him. Elle Fanning was scheduled to do another movie which really would have showcased her in the part of a power character. Instead, she does a Woody Allen movie. She does not play the power character in this movie unless you count power to be with Woody Allen's consider his power to be in a female role. It's uncomfortable still to see her in a Lolita role, optically speaking.
IO (2019)
Political bent
The whole movie is suggestive, including the ending. Things start to happen on camera, which suggests things off camera, depending on your opinion. It's a lot like dinosaurs, it's inventive. Most reviews speak of climate change negatively affecting the Earth, and as it is with people, you still want to invent hope, from your own scenarios. The discussion of real hope, is not an issue here. Dystopian films have been made for at least 50 years, and this is the latest. Like many movies, this one is written with hopes of a sequel. The ending suggests many things to many people, and to this reviewer, the ending suggests that the two main characters had a romantic encounter and she had a child by him. I give it four stars for inventiveness, and open-endedness, and keeping me watching until the end.
Murder in the First: Blunt the Edge (2014)
Offensive
This whole series is offensive. They would have been better off with a lot of nudity and sex, rather than the abusive foul language and foul use of language, in this smut. They know that the way the language is used, is offensive to many people. And they don't care. Naturally the patriarchy gives it high ratings. They're irreverent. It's totally contrived, the script. It feels totally uninspired, and like they wrote it, and passed it around to every one of their shows, and called it creativity. Pathetic. The writers need to be replaced now. It's hard to see the drama in the midst of all the foul mouths.
