Red Rose (2022)
Strong start poor finish..
I've literally just finished the series and went back to back on the last 4 episodes...the cast were beautifully imperfect, loved the clothing which reminds me of the sex education series and its style influence. The characters just made their presence pull me to the end..
The dip in the series for me was the change in Red roses virtual interference to a physical one that made it fall flat for me.. I get the black mirror influence and similarities but it just felt to rough and jagged in its flow and explanations.. the cast were amazing and chemistry flowed with in their dynamics together! It's just a shame the show couldn't hold it's brilliance to the end as I felt it was watery and predictable.
The Nan Movie (2022)
World war flash backs made this movie!!
Whenever you see a small screen adaptation made for the big screen you immediately expect the worse!
Mrs Browns, Harry Hill, Bad education etc!
This adaptation was so much better than I expected and in all honesty the world war 2 flash backs is what made it! I read that a lot of those from the original script were rejected and all the animation added for budget reasons... Shame really as it could of been beautifully tied in without the farce nonsense.... A focus on the war and nan now, I felt invested.. perhaps not the appeal it had years ago for silliness but the audience today it would of worked.
As far as small screen big screen adaptations go this is still by far the best I've seen in recent years! (Forever fond of Kevin and Perry)
