Narcos (2015)
Crime and Consequences much believable CIA Ploy
A Gritty Tale of Crime and Consequences"
Narcos, the American crime drama series that premiered in 2015, captivated audiences worldwide with its intense portrayal of the drug trade in Colombia during the late 20th century. While the show undoubtedly had its merits, it was not without its drawbacks. In addition, its subtle exploration of the connection between the CIA and the Middle East and the potential benefits of such operations to the U. S. government added an intriguing layer of complexity to the narrative.
Let's begin with the drawbacks of Narcos. The series, in its quest to depict the ruthless and violent world of drug cartels, often resorted to gratuitous violence and graphic scenes that could be quite disturbing for some viewers. The explicit portrayal of drug use, torture, and the ruthlessness of the criminals may deter sensitive viewers. Moreover, some critics argued that the show's pacing and storytelling suffered from inconsistency, occasionally making it difficult to maintain engagement over the long run. In terms of character development, while certain key figures like Pablo Escobar were fleshed out admirably, some secondary characters remained somewhat underdeveloped.
A particularly fascinating aspect of Narcos was its exploration of the connection between the CIA and the Middle East. Although the show primarily focused on the Colombian drug trade, it hinted at the broader geopolitical context of the time. The U. S. government's covert operations in the Middle East, particularly during the Cold War, played a significant role in shaping international relations. The show suggested that the narcotics trade was used as a means to fund various covert operations, which raises important ethical questions.
The potential benefits for the U. S. government in these covert operations are multifaceted. Firstly, the CIA's involvement in the narcotics trade allowed for a degree of financial autonomy, enabling them to operate without stringent oversight or direct budgetary constraints. This independence provided the government with resources for conducting various clandestine activities around the world. Additionally, the show hinted at the notion that these operations could be viewed as a necessary evil, as they were perceived as instrumental in combating the spread of communism during the Cold War.
However, this narrative also underscores the moral ambiguity and unintended consequences of such actions. The show portrayed how these covert operations could lead to the proliferation of drug cartels and violence, ultimately creating problems that the U. S. government had to address. These complex and often morally gray aspects of the government's involvement in the drug trade added depth to the series.
In conclusion, Narcos is a gripping series that brings to life the turbulent world of drug cartels in Colombia. While it has its drawbacks, including graphic violence and inconsistent storytelling, it successfully delves into the shadowy realm of covert operations and their consequences. The exploration of the CIA's connection to the Middle East and the potential benefits for the U. S. government serves as a thought-provoking backdrop to the main narrative, offering viewers a nuanced perspective on the geopolitical dynamics of the era.

I can't describe how much I'm involved with the series. The series has a lot of positive and very less negative. I always like this way of story telling with limited script approach. Blackhat (2015)
Scintillating Movie
Such an underrated movie. Michael Mann is the man. He should win an Oscar for this movie. Beautifully crafted, mesmerizingly placed incredibly acted thriller.
, starring Chris Hemsworth as Nicholas Hathaway, a convicted hacker who is released from prison to help the US and Chinese authorities track down a cybercriminal network responsible for a major security breach. The film explores the world of cybercrime and cyber warfare, and how hackers can be used to track down other hackers.
One of the most impressive aspects of "Blackhat" is its visual style. Michael Mann is known for his distinctive visual style, and in this film, he creates a gritty, intense atmosphere that immerses the audience in the world of cybercrime. The film features stunning shots of cityscapes, dark alleys, and data centers, which all contribute to the film's moody, atmospheric tone.
Another standout feature of the film is its use of technology. "Blackhat" explores how technology can be used to commit crimes, but also how it can be used to stop them. The film shows how hackers use code to infiltrate networks and steal data, and it also shows how forensic analysis and tracking can be used to catch cybercriminals.
The performances in "Blackhat" are also impressive. Chris Hemsworth gives a strong performance as the lead, displaying both physical and emotional depth. He is supported by a talented cast, including Viola Davis, Wei Tang, and Holt McCallany, who all bring their characters to life and add to the tension of the film.
While "Blackhat" is an engaging and thrilling film, it is not without its flaws. The pacing of the film is uneven at times, and some of the action sequences can be a bit confusing to follow. Additionally, the film's plot can be a bit convoluted, which may make it difficult for some viewers to fully engage with the story.
