Files of the Unexplained (2024)
What an utter snoozefest
Netflix is trying extra hard to make documentaries that retain viewers interest but sadly making documentaries is an art and this series is found wanting on that front.
Just watched the first episode . The topic was interesting and could have been presented in a much better and engaging way however the entire narration is monotonous and dull. As a viewer, one begins to lose interest quite fast. Ultimately this turns out to be one of those countless conspiracy theory documentaries that one wouldn't really take seriously.
Netflix need to explore ways how to make these documentaries more interesting and gripping .
Murder Mubarak (2024)
What a colossal mess!
This movie epitomizes everything that is wrong with the Bollywood Netflix association.
A movie heavy on starcast but absolutely lacking in narration, direction or acting , save Pankaj Tripathi. Not sure if the directors felt they could make their own version of Knives Out but the end result is a movie that is extremely dull and snooze worthy. Inspite of being a murder mystery , as an audience you just don't care who did it because the movie just keeps rambling on aimlessly. Perhaps the makers thought that injecting a swear word every minute , which seems to be the latest uncalled for fad, would save the movie but it doesn't.
To summarize, this is a movie not for everyone.
Spirited (2022)
Quite Terrible with all the songs
This movie starts on a promising note but then the never ending stream of songs start which breaks the tempo and ruins the entire movie watching experience.
Pretty sure this movie was intended for young audience. The makers should then also realize that their patience wanes quite quickly if the story is interjected with so many and at times completely needless song and dance routines. They may as well have created a musical and put it on broadway.
This movie could have been a much better without all the excessive songs but alas it isn't. Would not recommend this movie if you have young kids and want to watch something fun.
MH370: The Plane That Disappeared (2023)
This is why people lose interest in Netflix
Netflix produces absolute drivel in the guise of a documentary and then keeps wondering why people are abandoning the platform. This 'documentary' is nothing but a collection of some nutcase's conspiracy theories . Any self respecting news outlet would have tossed it out without batting an eyelid.
The documentaries produced by 60 minutes are not only far superior but are based on actual facts and opinions from experts in the field , not conspiracy peddlers.
The folks at Netflix need to do better and think about the kind of shows of documentaries they are green lighting.
To summarize , only watch if your are into whacky conspiracy theories.
The Gray Man (2022)
Cheap CGI for $200M movie
Given the budget of this movie , one would have expected much better and realistically filmed action sequences instead of the cheap CGI. Come on Netflix , now that you are spending big bucks , give us a product that is worthy of it.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Keep it simple
Off late MCU movies are getting incredibly complex with plots that need advanced degrees in astrophysics to understand . They need to understand that most folks are just looking for 2 hours of enjoyment. Keep the plots simple will ya going forwards?
Loot (2022)
Apple going the Netflix way
These are typically the kind of shows that one would expect on Netflix . Apple with its limited library should really evaluate every show carefully before green lighting it.
The Staircase (2022)
Slow, confusing and utterly boring
Following this show and keeping track of all the happenings is challenging task thanks to the muddled direction and editing . The non linear story progression along with the irrelevant side plots makes for some very dull viewing . This show sadly is not worthy of HBO which has set the bar quite high till now.
Bhaag Beanie Bhaag (2020)
Netflix digging its own grave by producing garbage like this
Keep churning out such utter trash and you'll be out of business in India in no time. Neither hilarious nor entertaining , nor sure which category this show falls in..
Thar (2022)
Another Netflix Trash
So much like the other movies on Netflix these days, this one is another price of garbage . This is a slow, incredibly dull and tedious movie that requires oddles of patience.
Shining Girls (2022)
No no no. Apple TV you need to do better
These are not the kind of shows we would expect from Apple TV after the magnificent shows like Ted Lasso. Please reevaluate your programming lineup if you want to compete in this market .Shows like these are.
Moonfall (2022)
Was this movie meant to be a joke?
Because everything else in the movie - the story, VFX, direction, screenplay etc. Is. From the original Independence Day to this nonsense, it sure is a fall from grace for Roland Emmerich.
Slow Horses (2022)
Dull and boring
True to the show name, it unfolds at a pedestrian pace and the plot leaves one utterly confused at times . Would have expected a show of this quality on Netflix, not on Apple.
Landscapers (2021)
Overtly dramatized
This is a simple enough story that needed to be narrated in a simple enough manner. The directors instead have gone overboard with the excess melodrama and needles contrivances . The end result is a muddled mess that neither engages the audiences interest nor entertains.
Well Done Baby (2021)
Colossal mess
From the beginning of the movie till the end, the director was not sure what this movie was all about . The end result is a muddled mess that leaves its viewers quite confused.
The Morning Show (2019)
Bordering on the edge of unrealistic and nonsensical
Does any of this stuff really happen? The producers , who also happen to be the lead actors, are making the plot unfathomable . Also Steve Carell is a great actor and needs more airtime!
Mumbai Diaries (2021)
Show is about everything except 26/11 attacks
Clueless why this is called 26/11 Mumbai Diaries as it is all about some obscure hospital . For those looking for a show that delves into the actual attacks , please ignore this one altogether and watch the movie instead which is far superior.
Truth Be Told (2019)
Too many side plots
The show has gone off the rails somewhat thanks to all the side stories the producers have injected. The pace has also slackened a bit making for some dull viewing.
Bhuj: The Pride of India (2021)
Terrible VFX ruins this movie
This is a war movie and producers should have invested to make the war scenes look more realistic however they made an absolute mockery of it using some terrible VFX. The movie Border which was released 25 years ago has much better war action sequences.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Typical Netflix Garbage
This is one of those awful cliched Horror movies that you have accustomed to seeing from Netflix these days . Acting and direction is terrible and the plot is so predictable that you can guess what the next scene is going to be . Avoid this movie if you can . You have probably seen a hundred ( and much better) movies like this one before I.
The Ice Road (2021)
Netflix needs to pay the producers more. CGI is quite terrible
The script was decent but CGI in this was movie was terrible, to the point where where it may be considered as embarrassing . Netflix needs to start pay the producers more so they can invest in better CGI.
Searching for Sheela (2021)
Terrible. A big step down from Wild Wild Country
Watching this garbage after the absolutely brilliant Wild Wild Country is like eating week old left leftovers after having a five course meal in a nice restaurant. Netflix should have let the original producers make this documentary as well.
Servant (2019)
Going nowhere
The show started on a good note, there was a lot of intrigue, suspense and drama on offer however Season 2 has just gone off the rails completely. The plot is not really going anywhere and it often borders on utter nonsense. One wonders if the creators have up given up on their show and are just interested in milking Apple as long as they can.
The Girl on the Train (2021)
Terrible!
This movie is a good example of why people have such low expectations from the movies released directly to the streaming platform these days. The acting is abysmal and the direction leaves a lot to be desired. Netflix especially, for a while now, has let the quality of its content slide and it's disappointing to see their content review team is not playing a more proactive role in deciding what gets approved.
1962: The War in the Hills (2021)
Director got confused between a love story and a war story
The title suggests that this is a mini series based on 1962 war, hence one would expect that to be the central plot . Unfortunately this show delves too much into the personal lives of the soldiers thereby making this show extremely tedious and boring.
