Only Murders in the Building: Hello, Darkness (2022)
Disappointment after disappointment
This episode sucks. If you like this episode, sorry, I guess. There's nothing good about this episode. Nothing monumental happens, except for the reveal of glitter guy in the worst, most boring way possible. He/she get's bumped into and he moves his neck?! LAME!!! Also, (name) stalking them was SO CREEPY AND SAD. Like, why was (name) there? So unnecessary. I feel like the writers FLOPPED with this one. Thank god the episode after this one is so well made. 1/10, just for how disappointed I am.
Only Murders in the Building: Flipping the Pieces (2022)
Great character development
I'll be honest. Season 2 of Only Murders is turning out to be not as good as the first. However, there have been gems that I come back to, one of them being this episode. I love how everything seems to come together in this episode, and I also love the development we get between Mabel and Theo Dimas. There are so many moments between the two that just make me love both characters. The writers really nailed this episode. I rate this episode a 10/10 simply because I can't let it be lower/equal to the blackout episode (probably the most disappointing episode this season).
Only Murders in the Building: Sparring Partners (2022)
The best episode in a while
I don't know about any other fans of the show, but as Season 2 progressed, I was getting tired of the rinse and repeat filler that I feel we've been getting. Going into this episode, I didn't think it'd be any different, but I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I think Oliver's biological son storyline is brilliant, and I love how they showcased his and Teddy's crazed relationship. His confrontation in the elevator (and Howard hilariously being stuck in there with them), and their more peaceful, emotional talk over wine... I feel like this was an amazing way to close this story. Now for Mabel and Detective Kreps. I didn't exactly love how they presented Kreps as (probably) glitter guy last episode. I don't know if it was just me, or anyone else, who felt it was rushed and they could have executed it much smoother. In this episode, I loved seeing Kreps as the angry New Yorker he was shown as a bit last episode. He's such a terrible guy and I love how much I detest him. I also really love when he's walking away and tries to do a little jump pounce thing on Mabel and she doesn't flinch, it's really funny. Unlike previous lame reveals this season, the chicken shop Cinda Canning reveal was amazing, especially because Kreps actually hinted towards it clearly (possibly a bit TOO clearly, but it's still fantastic). Shockingly, Poppy turns out to be Betty, the missing girl! I didn't see this coming in the slightest, but that doesn't stop it from the fact that it makes SENSE. It's a reveal that catches you off guard, but it's not like it's out of nowhere. Brilliantly done, and I loved it. Now for my favorite part of the episode... the Charles part. I loved the unpeeling of the real Rose, and the well done retirement home website looks through. Her talk with him about his father and how she loved him even though he's not a good person was super emotional and it just felt really special. It was a moment between two characters that was just really needed in the show. Even now writing this and revisiting it, I can see how well they did this. Like, oh my god... can this show get any deeper? Anyway, I'm rating this episode a 10/10 because it's solid all around and I want this episode to get at least a 9/10, so that's why I'm going so high on the review. Thanks for reading!
