Schindler's List (1993)
Schindler's List
Before watching this movie I was told that it shows a very detailed depiction of what the holocaust was and what happend, and I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. The story itself was really good and entertaining to watch. Also that fact that it is based on a real man who went out of his way to save as many jews and holocaust victims he was good. Also I never really learned about what this man did and it was nice to see a way that people were standing up against the Naxi and discrimination against the jews. Which is why I rate this movie seven stars out of seven stars. It was really informative about the holocaust.
Selma (2014)
Selma
I enjoyed watching the movie Selma that shows more about what Martin Luther King did for the civil rights movement. The movie focuses on the events that took place during the American Civil Rights Movement in Alabama with long marches from a small town located on the banks of Alabama River, Selma, to the state capital, Montgomery, some 54 miles away. My favorite scene was when King and the other black marchers were accompanied by the white people and kneeled down to pray then left. The acting and the drama in the movie was really good and entertaining to watch. Which is why I rate this movie nine stars out of ten.
Cinderella Man (2005)
Cinderella Man
Cinderella man was a good movie; about the life of a boxer who boxes for money and his family during the great depression. After the main character and an accident and had to quit boxing and we got to get a look at other jobs he had and the way the home him and his family lived in change from a decent good looking one into a dingy dark place with only like one or two beds to emphasize their hards times was good cinematic imagery to me. Also the scene when his wife was talking about having to send their children away and him telling his son that he would never; then she does; and he does all he can to get them back was my favorite.
A League of Their Own (1992)
League of their own
A league of their own was a nice movie to watch; seeing how even when women are being allowed to do things that men were during the time period of this movie that some of the men only saw them as a replacement of entertainment when the men were at war. I didn't even know that this actually happened in history; and the scene when the women were being put into the baseball hall of fame (I don't really remember what it was) years later was nice to see. But one thing that made me just a tad bit confused was when the sisters were reuniting it made it seem like they haven't seen each other in was weird because you'd think that after the league was over they would eventually see each other or visit each other during it. Which is why I rate this movie seven stars.
Walk the Line (2005)
Walk The Line
I genuinely had no idea who Johnny Cash was prior to watching this movie, but he reminded me of Elvis Presly a lot; which is why it made sense when Elvis appeared in the movie. The movie itself was good but I wouldn't be able to rate the movie more than five stars because Johnny Cash and June Carter were both horrible people; I mean she was with him when he was married and even after meeting his wife and kids; and Johnny was just cheating on his wife before he even met June, which makes him worse. My favorite scene was when Johnny was introducing June To his wife and kids and Vivian told her not to touch or talk to her kids.
Elvis (2022)
Elvis Presley
Elvis was good but it wasn't what I was expecting it to be. The performance of Austin Butler, the costumes and the set designs were truly something to see. Tracing his roots as a poor white boy forced to live with his family in a black neighborhood where he finds his true calling for music; and lives his life starting and building on his career. Also Austin Butler did a great way of showcasing the way that Elvis Presley performed on stage and the way that people loved the way that he performed and why he was loved, and the movie itself tells a lot about Elvis's life. I did enjoy the movie, which is why I rate it 6 stars out of ten.
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ruan was good, I really liked the action and the overall plot of the movie. A part of the movie that I didn't like was when someone was cowering on the stairs instead of saving their friend's life and letting the enemy just walk past them; and after all that was one of the ones who survived. Also the opening and ending scenes were Ryan's aged and is looking back on his time in the war and thinking about all of the guys who died trying to find and save him so that his mother would have at least one son coming home. My favorite scene however is after they find Private Ryan and they ambush the German army amidst the rubble of a town. Which is why I rate this movie 8/10 stars.
Darkest Hour (2017)
The Darkest Hour
Darkest hour was an ok movie. There wasn't really a part of it that I enjoyed the most, but all and all it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but if I had to point out something about the movie that I found interesting in some way was the scene changes; the different scenes and the way that they were filmed was good to me; and the acting of the man (Gary Oldman) who was playing Churchill was nice to watch. I didn't know much about Churchill before watching the movie besides the basic things you learn in world history; but if the movie wasn't about a man named Winston Churchill and he wasn't the who the movie was most about of focused on the most and it was the girl who was helping him keep record of his speeches I feel like it would of been I lot more interesting to see all of the events that took place in her perspective. Which is why I give the movie a five out of ten for the acting and the scenery and not so much the plot.
Unbroken (2014)
Unbroken
I enjoyed the movie Unbroken. My favorite part was when he was in the olympics. I admire the actors for doing a good job immersing themselves in their roles, like the scenes when they're in the detention camp and them on the water for 47 days. It pictures a true story about a moment in time and something that actually happened in someone's life. The way that Louie still got back up when he was beaten in the camp was interesting to watch and the actor Jack O'Connell did an amazing job bringing to life the harsh life of a War veteran and Olympic runner. Which is why I rate this movie 7 stars. It was nice.
Dunkirk (2017)
Dunkirk Movie Review
This was an interesting movie. One thing about this movie that I didn't like was that to me the movie was confusing and I didn't know half of what was going on while watching it. Something that I did like was the acting and the cinematography that was being shown. The concept of there being three parts: land, sea, and air, was a cool concept to me and I liked the way it was done. Also the movie was based on events that happened during WWII. The movie itself wasn't a bad movie; I just didn't understand most of what was going on nor did I know any of the characters' names, which is why I rate this movie four stars out of ten stars.
12 Mighty Orphans (2021)
I Liked It
This was an interesting movie. One thing from this movie that I didn't like was the old man who was beating the orphans. Something that I did like was how it was based off of real life events and the lives of real people. Another thing about this movie that I liked was the comedic aspect of it. My favorite characters were Doc, and the coach from the other team who didn't want the boys to be able to play; with his stupid haircut, and the way he spoke. Another thing that I liked was that Rusty was also an orphan; and how he could share that with the boys. Also the fact that he just moved his entire family to live in an orphanage was kinda crazy to me.
The Grapes of Wrath (1940)
Wraith of grapes
This was an interesting movie. One thing from this movie that I didn't like was the old cinematography. The only thing I liked was how the family, no matter what they went through, stayed together through they're troubles, and the way it depicted the way life was like during the great depression, and showcased some of the things that people went through just to live and survive when unemployment was at a rate of 25%, like people losing their land, farms, and houses and having to find somewhere else to live or move to a different state and start their lives over, and some couldn't finds another home or ob and was left homeless.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Thou art where?
This was an interesting movie. One thing from this movie that I didn't like was that most of the time I didn't know what exactly was going on or what it was about, but besides all of that, It was a funny movie. In my opinion, the best parts of the movie were all of the comedic scenes. One of my favorite scenes was when Everett, Delmar, Pete, and Tommy went to the cabin to retrieve Penney's ring, and when they get there the lawman that has been chasing after them the entire movie is there with three black men digging three graves for Everett, Delmar, and Pete. They start to pray and ask God to get them out of the situation when a flood occurs and saves their lives.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
It's a wonderful life
It's a wonderful life was an ok movie to me but probably an amazing movie for it's time. The movie goes on to show how many little inconveniences in someone's life could lead to them forgetting their mind or suicide, the ol man at the begging who was younger George's boss would be a great example of someone losing their mind; as George of course would be the best example of things that go wrong in someone's life leading to them attempting to commit suicide, and I think that this was probably good for it's time because compared to modern day if you were suicidal and tried to take your own life you would just be put into an asylum; and they wouldn't try to help you get better.
Hidden Figures (2016)
Hidden Figures Was Amazing
As an African American hidden figures was one of the best movies I've ever seen about the trama black women had to face during segregation. The actresses Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle monae absolutely played their three characters so well. Hidden figures is about the lives of the black woman and all the hardships they faced in America while being black and woman. My favorite scene of the whole entire movie is when Taraji P. Henson's character is talking to the white men at the office of where she works about how she works as hard as she can, has to use the bathroom on the other side of town whenever she has to go, and drinks coffee from a pot that none of the men want to touch because she's black.

A Christmas Carol (2009)
Not bad
A christmas carol by disney wasn't bad. Scrooge starts off not liking christmas and being miserable which makes other around him miserable, then he's visited by the ghost of christmas past, present, and future so that he can see that there once was a time when he did enjoy christmas and what would happen in the future and what other think about him and him being remembered as a mean old man and nobody caring about him dying, people being hurt because of it and people using it to their advantage to say and do things they always wanted to do when they were around him when he was alive and could defend himself.
Bridge of Spies (2015)
Spies on a Bridge
The movie Bridge of Spies was interesting. At first it was a very slow paced film and the beginning was different from the middle and end, I can't really recall things that I disliked or enjoyed about, but i'd say that is wasn't a bad movie it was pretty entertaining for a movie about spies during the cold war, I will however say that the ending could of had more about what happened to able after he was returned to Germany. But over all nothing about was bad, one thing that was good that I can point out would probably be the acting, I think Tom Hanks did a great Job for this movie about a an american lawyer's interaction with a German spy.
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Ridge Hacksaw
The movie hacksaw ridge wasn't bad; I liked how at the end of the movie I could tell that Doss had finally won over his unit and that they started to show him the respect that he deserved ant the beginning of the movie. What I didn't like was the fact that he only got his respect at the end when he should of had it all along; also the fact that it took him saving people and risking his life for his unit to finally acknowledge and respect him, and with the ending I feel like the movie should of took inspiration from the fact that what happened to Doss at the end of the movie isn't what happened in real life; but other than that i still enjoyed it.
Red Tails (2012)
Redplanes
Red tails is a movie that I, as an African American in the United States, really enjoyed watching. Something I liked about the movie was how they were looking out for each other and helping each other no matter if it was in the sky or on the ground. Something that I didn't like seeing was the racism and the way that they were looked at everywhere they went, another thing was what happened to lighting at the end. That part of the movie I liked and disliked, because for the ending of the movie it was great, but the fact that what happened to the character happened right after him becoming engaged was sad to see. Which is why I gave the movie a rating of 10 stars.
1917 (2019)
nineteen-seventeen
The movie 1917 was interesting to watch. A part of the movie that I didn't like was when Schofield cut his hand on barbed wire then proceeded to stick his open wound inside the gut of a deadman. That was just disgusting to see, and all I could think about was all of the disease he must have gathered for it. A scene from the movie that I found interesting was when Schofield found the girl up under the house with a baby by herself in the midst of a war. All I could think about was how many other women, and children were still around the area of where the war happened and how many survived. I rated this movie seven stars because it's not something that I usally watch but I did find it interesting.
Harriet (2019)
HARRIET
Harriet Tubman is an inspiration, as a black girl who lives in the united states of america-present time-knowing that some of the things that Harriet did had there own way to play into the freeing of slaves officially, and forever. To me this movie was so far one of the best movies about slavery I've watched. Something that I really liked about it was the fact that the movie showed not only a women, but a string black women, from the times when women couldn't even vote, and to men were only good for babies, cooking, clothes, and sex, be shown as the brave, loyal, and courageous women she was. H.
Free State of Jones (2016)
Jones state free
In this movie I liked how it didn't censor the things that black people had to go through during those times. It even showed events that took place during the civil war, and how it not only affected black people and how some aspects of it affected the white people who didn't believe that slavery was a good thing or something that was needed in society. One thing that I didn't like about the movie was seeing what they had to go through, and how bad it was back then, and the way that they had to go through, and how bad it was back then, and the way that the black people had to deal with people who didn't see them as human beings and wanted the them dead when all they wanted was the basic human rights they deserved.
Lincoln (2012)
Lincoln Wasn't the Best
This movie definitely wasn't one of my favorites about the past. The dialogue in my opinion was too long and it was quite hard to keep up with what was going on. It definitely wasn't the worst, it just wasn't one that I would consider watching again unless I had too, for school, or anything else that could possibly require watching the movie. The cinematography was good, though the movie in general was quite dark, and someone probably wouldn't be able to get the main idea if they don't know at least the most common knowledge of who president lincoln was and what he did, also it gives insight on other important figures of that time.
Dances with Wolves (1990)
The native americans
The portal of native american in this film was probably the only one that I feel didn't give native americans negative attributes of killing the american settlers, but it showed what the settlers did to them first and how they retaliated. Also you got to see more into the way they lived and communicated with each other and American settlers. So I would say that this movie was pretty good and I actually enjoyed certain parts of it. I don't usually watch shows like this but this is one that I probably could see myself watching on my own time. Which is why I rated it 6/10 stars, and would recommend it to people who like to learn about the past.
