Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997)
Bad story for most of the thing, followed by fighting for 1/2 minute.
This movie starts out with a "martial arts" match between one of the power rangers[out of costume], and some other guy, in which the ranger is thrown from the ring, and hurts his leg or something. So they end up replacing him with his kid brother or something as equally stupid. When he morphs, he puts on the costume, then grows to the size o an adult. Anyway, they get new "zords", which are actually cars. Way to go, robots at least made the show seem cool, now they have cars. They have to rescue some little alien thing, which is the love child of an Ewok and Gizmo from gremlins. Along the way, the new pink ranger twists her ankle or something after falling into the water, and the alien heals her with his glowing finger. No ET rip off there. They take him...somewhere, and then they have this boat. The boat takes them to the island, where the rangers have to fight the old red and pink rangers who are being mind controlled. Did I mention that they have a sub plot going where bulk, skull, Jason and Kim are prisoners of the enemies? Well, yeah, they get mind controlled. During the fight, the big evil thing on the island is released, and the rangers can stop fighting Jason and Kim because the alien used his powers to fix their brains. The rangers go out to fight the big guy, who's being called all powerful, and being completely overhyped. They call out their cars, and start up this 8 minute sequence where the cars drive around, the rangers wave their hands around, and the cars go together to form a giant robot. They then proceed to hit the guy once. Once with the sword. That's all it takes, and he blows up. I sat through that whole movie, and that's the end? They kill him in one hit? The fight was shorter than the robot forming sequence. There is no excuse for that.
Legend of the Hidden City (1997)
Another one of those British seeming teen adventure shows.
This was one of those shows that seemed to star a host of British teens that get into some sort of magical and/or mystical adventure. So here's a basic run down. There are these teens that are the offspring of some archelogists/anthropologists that are looking for stuff in, I think, South America. They go for a chopper ride with this guy who's stealing artifacts, they get into a bit of a scuffle in mid-flight and they crash. The thief gets away in the jungle, and the teens are left to fend for themselves. The female teen falls from a cliff and the two guys assume she's dead and wander around, only to get caught by some people from "the hidden city". I don't remember the name of the city anymore. Anyways, the natives assume that they are "the chosen ones" and put them to the test. The evil queen hooks up with the thief and they plot against the teens, and eventually the long lost female reunites with the two males and it causes a stirr with the white male, who used to be going out with her, but has since hooked up with a princess.
Really now, it wasn't that bad of a show near the start, and the intro music was fairly good.
Die Another Day (2002)
Bond vs the giant space lazer? Can you say Goldeneye?
Wow, that movie had everything, commies, a space lazer, collaboration between British and American agents. When I put it that way, it seems a lot like Goldeneye, the only difference was that Goldeneye had Russians, and was considerably better. This film had it's points, and it wasn't all that bad, but someone should tell the people behind this movie that Die Hard called and they want their horrible blue screen effects back.
The Wizard (1989)
Bad puns + bad concept = Bad movie
Well, I sat down and watched this 2 hour long commercial for the first time in 1990, and it was hideous even then. The high point of the movie would have to be just before the worst movie line ever. "just keep your Power Gloves off her, pal". Once uttered, this phrase caused the movie to plummet into a downward spiral, eventually coming to rest in the "so bad it's funny" category alongside other titles such as "Santa with Muscles" or "Deathsport".
Hurricanes (1993)
It's about a soccer team?
The hurricanes was an animated series which was, thankfully, short lived. It followed the exploits of a soccer team that not only traveled around the world to compete in soccer games[and win every time as well], but also along the way they tended to solve mysteries or fight crime or something. It wasn't actually very good, but I'm sure there are a few people out there who liked it. I recommend avoiding it unless you're a fan of cartoons based on bad ideas.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
Such a rip off
This was a good movie, but it was better the first time. In a Japanese mini-series called Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, pretty much the exact same thing happened. The original was made in 1990, and the characters look exactly the same, they save the city by using the pendant around Nadia's neck to save the city.
